I now have to figure out what blocks I want to do. I ironically hate the process. I love when it is done and I can enjoy the finished product but I drag my feet on doing the actual sewing. Dumb huh? I get bored with the sewing the blocks together. I like making the Bostons and the Star Points etc but sewing the blocks into rows is boring to me. I would love to jump over that part but it doesn't work that way! LOL

In 12 years I have made hundreds of hotpads which is where I got started doing the 6 x 6 grid and I drag my feet on the middle part every time! LOL

If you'd kept all those hot pads and sewn them together, your quilt might be bigger than Texas! ... well maybe!

Well you figure I made about a dozen hot pads every 2 to 3 weeks for 12 years and that is alot of hotpads! LOL

In the beginning they were simple patterns such as 9 patch or Shoofly etc. then as they sold more and she was willing to pay more I started doing more of the small stuff and they were all a 6 x 6 grid using the 1 1/2" template to make a 6 1/2" quilt block and adding borders to make them 8 1/2".
I could do them in my sleep. :hunf: :XD:

That is why I tend to use the 6 x 6 grid mostly. It is what I am used to doing. And it fits most projects from quilt blocks to coin purses.

It is going to be strange to make a 12 1/2" quilt block. I am going from making a 6 1/2" which I have done for ever to making a 12 1/2".

I'm glad you all enjoy the quilt blocks. I found this site by accident or divine guiding. I wasn't looking for a forum just following links on some blogs and found myself here.
Then I wasn't looking to teach just to find fresh inspiration for my hotpads etc. Then I wasn't aware of ebooks until Konstantin asked me to write one. I said no I didn't have time. Then changed my mind and decided to try it after praying about it.

So the Lord has led me here for a reason. And he keeps opening paths before me so I am doing what he has given me to do.

I am having such a blast making friends and enjoying the company of those who understand my work.

I posted on the paper template wings block tutorial

http://www.quiltingboard.com/t-104927-2.htm

but wanted to paste here too in case not everyone had gone there. I used the paper templates for the smaller block to try them out and I got a 1 1/2" wing block. That was so easy, even I can do it.
:D Try it, you'll like it.
