Well, maybe not "ugly" fabric but fabric we bought or is in our stash and we take it out to pet it but instead we put it back down and say to ourselves, "what WAS I thinking when I bought that?" (LOL)

STAR 01-18-2010 05:25 AM

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA usually in my stash when I pull out stuff like that I say what was GRANDMA thinking, since most of it was hers. But I gotcha, thats a good idea

My husband said, Now that you got this wonderful gift from your SA, would you want to go to town tomorrow and get something for your Angel? This from the men that had a fits about what I spent on my mystery quilt fabric. Go figure . . .It never stops amazing me how God hands guide people when you need them the most.
To my SA, you are a special Angel sent to me by God and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

And this is what this Secret Quilt Angel group should be all about. Really making a difference in each other's lives. This is the type of posting I prefer to read about.

OK Lightening: I am so happy that your SQA made such a difference in your life at such a sad time. Her timing was perfect. I hope you continue in your recovery from your surgery and your depression.

Tru and Gladgrams: Good thoughts to both of you also. I'm sure all of the angels are sending good thoughts to you.

My husband is home from the hospital and regaining color, I look like something the cat drug in... Insurance company will recontact us in a few days with new flight arrangements.

I have some UGLY fabrics in my stash that make me think I must have been on hallucinogens when I bought them! Need to enter an ugliest quilt contest and use'em all up.

Thanks for the warm thoughts and prayers.

STAR 01-18-2010 08:06 AM

maybe we should do an "ugly " fabric swap

Ah heck no! I have enough in my stash already, don't need to add more uglies!

Grama Lehr 01-18-2010 09:01 AM

You must remember, what one person thinks is UGLY, another might think is just BEAUTIFUL!!! I almost put my foot in my mouth with my aunt. I had some really UGLY fabric, she saw it and begged for some to make an apron. I was more than happy to make her day and give her the entire piece of fabric. If I would had said something negative, I would still have it

Chrickett 01-18-2010 09:10 AM

Where is Shadow Dancer, I have not seen anything from her in a while. Shadow how are you doing???

STAR 01-18-2010 09:18 AM

yes my mom told me that my grandma always said there is no such thng as ugly fabric. I have to agree that some look real ugly until they are cut up and put with something else

Ybridgegal 01-18-2010 01:33 PM

Grama Lehr 01-18-2010 01:36 PM

I got something for my Angel at the Road to California Quilt Show, I kinda want to tell her, when I send it, but I don't want her to figure out where it came from either. What should I do???

Chrickett 01-18-2010 02:57 PM

Wait until December when we reveal ourselves. Then tell
her where you got it.

I don't have any "ugly" fabric, just fabric I haven't found
a good use for yet.

I was just thinking the same thing OR wait until there's over 100 pages in this thread and send it to her. This way you know she may not want to go thru reading all the pages... LOL

sewnsewer2 01-18-2010 04:41 PM

Oh just send it to me, that way you won't have to worry. LOL

sandpat 01-18-2010 04:50 PM

 That was my solution too Sew!!

Janstar 01-18-2010 05:21 PM

Great minds think alike!

Grama Lehr 01-19-2010 07:46 AM

You guys are soooooo funny! Darn, I didn't even think about her reading it here. Duh! But, then I have never seen her here either! I will wait to Christmas to send it to her. Thank you for all of your help!!

Nancy in Louisiana 01-19-2010 11:24 AM

About the ugly fabric swap -- we should organize a swap where we send our ugly fabric to a partner and challenge them to return something they made from it.

Grama Lehr 01-19-2010 11:33 AM

WOW! That sounds good! What a great idea!!

Nancy in Louisiana 01-19-2010 11:50 AM

I've never organized a swap and don't know how. Anyone interested?

How many blocks would we need to do??

Nancy in Louisiana 01-19-2010 01:23 PM

Wouldn't necessarily have to be a block -- could be pin cushion, coaster, apron, wallhanging, potholder, anything at all as long as the "ugly" fabric is the focal fabric. Before and after pix would be appreciated. Swap members could vote for the best transformation or biggest challenge (that means "ugliest" fabric). We all have uglies in our closets -- let's bring 'em out into the light!!!!

Nancy in Louisiana 01-19-2010 01:25 PM

Sorry -- getting off subject. If there is interest, perhaps a new thread? Promise I won't get off subject again (bad girl, bad girl!)

laparshall 01-19-2010 01:40 PM

Let me know where/if you switch this ugly fabric swap discussion, I may be interested. I have some pretty ugly fabrics. I think it would be a fun challenge.

Linda

STAR 01-19-2010 01:42 PM

that definitely sounds fun!!

Ditter43 01-19-2010 03:07 PM

After opening envelope after envelope of fabric for a swap, the last envelope had the prettiest fabric but no name. When I read the card, it came from my SQA!!!! It was all for ME!!! And I love the fabric--makes me feel like a bug in a garden of ferns. It will be going into the batik quilt I'm doing. Thanks so much, Angel.

sewnsewer2 01-19-2010 03:50 PM

That's pretty fabric Nancy!

chewboo 01-19-2010 03:53 PM

Chrickett 01-19-2010 03:57 PM
