How fabulous that your husband started up this friendship. I have no doubt this little girl will always remember him and the wonderful gift you made for her. I still remember my first stamped cross stitch project which was given to me by a boarder who living with us while he was going to barber school. I was six and he gave me a simple "God Bless Out Home" stamped piece with floss and showed me how to do cross stitch. It was a wonderfully kind thing to do and it started me on a path of many, many cross stitch (including counted cross stitch) projects. Kudos to both of you!

bunbytes - Love your story of the boarder and how you got interested in cross stitch. With kids sometimes you never know what seeds of interest you might have sewn with a kind gesture like showing how to do cross stitch. Do you still have the sampler?
BTW, there are pics of the little one getting her bag here: http://www.quiltingboard.com/picture...g-t190567.html

To be honest I don't really remember what the exact dimensions were. I just started and DH decided that he wanted it larger than I had originally planned. It was almost as big as she is, but DH just saw her mom yesterday and she told him that Annie was putting everything in her bag! lol I believe that the front and back trimmed up at arounf 15 1/2 inches wide and about 12 1/2 or 13 inches top to bottom. I then squared off the bottom corners so that the sides ended up 2 inches wide. These measurements were after it was quilted. Hope this helps.
