Lowe's used to offer two free cuts on any piece of plexiglass you bought, and they may still do that. If you make a template of the cut you want and take it to them they will probably cut it for you. You would have to know exactly where you want the cut to be made on the plexiglass, so it would fit your machine. I have had plexiglass templates cut at Lowe's and they did a good job.......and they didn't charge for the cuts, but that was a few years ago.

I actually purchased a professional one for my Bernina and then I broke it in half transporting it to a retreat. My husband the machinist used the legs from the original one and the pieces as a template to make me another one out of plexglass from his job. The only way to get around the fabric getting caught is to have a surface behind the machine that is the same level as the sewing surface. I have an adjustable folding table I set up behind my machine setup when I am doing something like sewing on the border to a bed size quilt. That having to drag around the quilt is one reason I don't machine quilt anything bigger than a Linus quilt.

Great job! To help with the drag of the quilt weight pull up an adjustable height ironing board along your left side and pile the quilt on it & then feed it onto the extension table. It's not perfect but it does help from catching & lifting the corner of the plastic.
