Just completed a couple of things since I was busy remodeling my quilt studio most of the month!A girlfriend gave me this panel and I just added some fabric to it. It's my first time making a flange, as well as mitering the border.Daisies, Dogs and Ducks pattern. I used Kabnet Wax paper and traced a duck onto it, pinned one to each block, FMQ'd and then tore the paper away. I ended up liking the back better than the front!

Michelleoc your finished quilts are great. Love those little duckies! Will have to try that on a quilt sometime.

Deedum- Such cute baby quilts! Your FMQ is just great. Great finishes!

bcross- good for you and your finishes! Prairie points are so cute and take some careful attention. But they add so much cuteness.

Michelleoc- What cute quilts! The panel one is just darling and i'm sure the flange adds a nice finishing detail. And the baby quilt with the ducks is just darling. What a good idea to use the paper as a template for quilting.

I'm still working on my sewing room makeover/cleanup, trying to find the right spot for my new Tiara. Have been taking breaks from cleaning to practice and to cut some scraps on the GO. My blocks for DDIL are snoozing on the design wall and I will get back to them asap. I fear I won't have a post by Monday, but at least I'm inching forward!

Ah, I finished a UFO just yesterday....well except that when I started quilting it three days ago, I thought it was a "scratch" quilt that I could use to practice quilting. I was pleased enough with the finished product that I want to go back and "fix" some of the scratches that were a little too scratchy.

Here's a pic of it before binding. Since the quilt was pretty repetitious I put a different quilting motif in each block. Some worked really well, some not as much. The lower left is an insect. Someone called it a dragonfly, but for me, it's some other imaginary species ;-).

And here's one of the binding. You'll have to trust me that the binding is sewn all the way around. This is the first quilt I've finished in about SEVENTEEN years, so proud. (I'd taken a quilting hiatus for that long). I literally had to re-learn how to do binding...sigh. But I was THRILLED with the outcome.

The quilt uses slightly "pre-vintage" fabrics, circa 1997. Since I plan to go back and fix some of the quilted blocks, I call this a FWE, which stands for "fix whenever". Fixing it is not high priority ;-).
