BettyB, I might have to borrow that idea - particularly since it started from a free pattern. WAY TO GO!

It's great to see the front and back on the quilt, judy.

Default Checking in....

I thought I'd better jump in and say Happy February or something before everyone thinks I have abandoned ship! My latest 2 quilt starts are keeping me busy along with working on 3 UFO's. Hopefully the 2 starts will be completed tops by the end of the weekend...then they can join the stack of un-quilted UFO's...lol One of the UFO's only needs the binding turned and stitched, will do that tomorrow and hopefully post a pic. Okay....back too it and really love seeing and hearing about all the finishes!

Yea!! I can finally lay claim to one UFO done!!! I made this along with other members of my guild. We started in 2011 and finished in 2012 with just the top. I made the backing for mine using some orphan blocks I received from a friend who didn't want them so I incorporated them into the backing. Got it back from the LA quilter a couple months ago. However, she did not echo stitch to the edges of the block that I wanted echo stitched. So, I had to try and do that myself but first I had to order some matching (sort of) thread as I had none in gold color. It is 75 x 90 so was hard to wrestle it with my DSM. Now that it is done, it really doesn't look too bad and much better with stitching going clear to the edges, don't you agree. It was a Fons & Porter pattern but I can't remember the name so I just called mine "Stars and Stripes". Trying to keep everyone happy, I am adding pictures of blocks before and after, back and front.

Sandy: I totally agree, that echo quilting needed to go all the way to the edge. It's a really fun quilt, could even be an I spy quilt. Great job, both front and back. I really think I would frequently turn it over. Congrats on the finish.

Wow. Great job. And I agree I like the echo quilting to hedge of that block. Funny how on that Hugh quilt we feel we have to have that block perfect. Bet you are drawn there every time you look at your quilt

An amazing sampler quilt perfect for a patriotic bedroom. Lots of work and so worth it. Great quilt!

What amazing quilts you guys are finishing! I have one finish in January that I gave away and just got a picture. It's a simple patchwork ISpy quilt that has 100 different fabrics. Instead of binding, I used the envelope? Method to see the layers together. Then I topstitched and sewed some straight lines corner to corner. So 1 finish for January!
