Sorry about your gout NoraB ouch! Though I did get a chuckle out of your thriftiness. I tell my husband when something seems a waste "do you know how many yards of fabric that is?!" I must say it a lot because he now says it back to me!
beckyw saving a special fabric I do a lot. I have to talk myself into using it then talk myself out of buying more. First month down I only bought the one yard of fabric. I'm very proud of myself.

. I feel your pain. I had my JoAnns flyer in my purse, intending to stop after dropping off the PL quilt, since I had to drive right by there on my way home. But I talked myself out of stopping and drove right on by.....

Well I for one am proud of you all for resisting temptation. Good going, ladies! Now we just need to actually use up what I have (and in my case finish UFOs).

One of my favorite internet stores is having a 50% off sale in honor of their birthday. So hard to resist. I've been sticking to only buying fabric for backing so far. I am up to an additional 5 yards for backings. Now to just match them up with the fronting. I'm going to my (not so) LQS to finish up machine classes and then I start to get a 10-20% discount at the store. Must resist.....

If you don't just remember that you are supporting the local economy and that's a good thing.

I am feeling so good about "shopping my stash". Yesterday I finished a project and of course wanted to start another. I looked a a few kits that I had, read the directions, and decided on one. I have a (large) number of kits that I purchased prior to retiring a couple years ago. Between that and the fabric on my wall, I should find enough to keep me busy for a few years. So far have only purchased 1 1/2 yards for a birthday gift for my DH and backing for one quilt. I am doing much better than I did last year at this time! Love reading of our progress!

I had to drop off a broken scant 1/4" foot at the lqs today. And I felt I was short some fabric for the next star flower quilt with sashing so I talked to the lady at the counter. We are becoming pretty good friends. She mentioned that if I put the two fabrics that I was planning on next to one another i'd have a very busy quilt. So we rearranged the fabrics so I didn't have to buy as much. Does that count as a negative purchase?...just saying...

I forgot to mention took my coupons to joann's and only came away with a large spool of cream quilting thread. Something I'll need sooner or later. feeling pretty good about that one.

I need solid fabric for my guild blocks. I don't have solid color fabrics. Or I can't find them. I think I will buy a few f-qtrs. And while I'm buying, I have decided to buy 2 Bonnie Hunter books. Does this count as going off the wagon? If I understand the guidelines, I should be fine.
