2016 Fabric Moratorium
#221
It's the end of January and I haven't bought any new (or old) fabric yet! Just some batting to finish a project. I have 2 baby blankets almost done. Just hand sewing the binding on both!

Well I didn't last long. Connecting threads and I have this relationship....it's a on again off again thing. So I hope the wagon you all are on isn't too far ahead of me!

I fell last night, but only a little. I needed some fabric to finish a birthday gift for my DH and then also bought some backing fabric for my Bonnie Hunter MQ in order to get free shipping. Since it was for specific projects, I think I am OK. (As long as I end up using them soon.)

I didn't join the moratorium until just now! I have gone thru my December fabric receipts and those are done, paid and "forgotten" since they are from 2015. Since today is the last day of January, 2016....I realized I have NOT purchased any fabric this month! Yipee! So, I'm joining this group! After looking what I spent last year in fabric.....I REALLY need to join this group! It will help me stay focused on what I have! Thanks!
Month one......successful!

OK, last day of the month, time to reckon up! Thanks to your encouragement, I was able to resist the Thimbleberries' BOM. I did make one trip to JoAnns for backings and basics (muslin and Kona for backgrounds) oh and a bit for binding. However, 3 one-yard pieces of solids ended up in the cart because I have re-connected with the Project Linus group and want to make some quilts for them and didn't have many solids on hand to go with the prints in my stash. So, (I"m telling myself) I have a PURPOSE for the fabric I bought. Hope that counts to the good!! At least I just didn't go hog wild. Haha.

If I continue at the rate I'm going I'm going to be the fall off queen of the thread. 10 1/2 yards added to my stash just this month. All of last year I only added 57 yards. so egads.

Welcome newbies...NoraB...once you realize how much you've spent it takes you back a bit doesn't it? Ask me how I know...well maybe you shouldn't. The shop hops are what test my spending habits...

I used a big chunk on "Dirty Laundry" - haven't measured yet but it is at least 90x115 (if not bigger). UGH! Don't even want to think about the basting.

I only bought backing fabric for a throw and enough fabric for 2 pillows cases. Then I bought 2 blocks for a batik BOM. Pics to follow after it's completed. A few years from now.
Love all of the projects and completed projects. Congrats to all who stayed on the wagon. Keep sharing your buys from all the other members. I figure the more you buy, the less I can buy. LOL
