Yes, this thread helps our decision to shop stash and buy only when needed. I've been pulling UFO's and getting the tops finished at least!
I also love seeing projects made from stash...they are a great morale booster for me, so keep them coming folks!

The short answer: Yes, I did stop at the LQS on my way to retreat. Yes, I did buy gifties for everyone. Yes, I did buy a set of FQs from Riley Blake for me. Yes I did go to the local LQS. Yes I did buy a patriotic jelly roll. But that's it. Not too bad compared to previous years.

Everyone is doing so great!
Yes to a 2018 thread. I find both the accountability very helpful but also love seeing all the wonderful ideas and pictures.
Now, I have a favour to ask. I tend not to keep little pieces of fabric as I don't like working in miniature -- I just toss them (heresy, right?). I used to keep them and make dog beds but the shelters in the town I now live use those fancy hammock type beds.
So... I've ended up with several file drawers of 1/4 - 3/4 yard pieces. Besides the Turning Twenty pattern, what ideas might you have for fast scrappy quilts using these sizes? I make charity quilts so like easy fast working patterns. D9p is one I use a lot, but don't like it made up purely scrappy. I just know this group will be able to give me some ideas for true scrappy quilts.

Belfrybat, Yellow Brick Road is a fast, easy quilt and I think it would work with your pieces that you have in your file drawer.

How about cutting the yardage into strips (2 1/2") - then sew the strips together and recut into triangles or squares. Alternate the direction when sewing rows together. Fast and fun.

A carpenter's star could be made scrap...here's one made with 6 1/2" cuts. Check out her other quilts for ideas.

I would love for you to continue this thread into next year. I have not bought as much fabric this year as I had in the past. I found if I don’t go to shop hops or bus trips I can save lots of money. Plus I have started and completed several projects from my stash. Only buying background and borderl and backing fabric. Which gives me more money for notions etc. like earlier this week I upgraded my EQ7 to EQ8. Need to down load it soon. I hear it’s suppose to be easier to use verse the old version. So thank-you paperprinces for this thread.

Yes to this thread next year! It helps me think about all my other stashes (thread, batting scraps, ribbon, rickrack, sequins, Angelina, paints of all kinds, Inktense pencils, oil pastels...you get my drift.....) in addition to my fabric stash! Thanks Paperprincess for hosting this thread!
Belfrybat- quilts made using the strip tube method work up real fast and they’re fun to do. You don’t have to have a strip tube ruler to make them. Check out Jenny Doan’s tutorial on the MSQC web site.

Thanks, all for your suggestions for easy quilts from scraps. I'd forgotten about the tube quilts. I made a couple several years ago. I also remembered a FQ friendly pattern I have called Chunky Quarters. It uses 8-1/2" squares and 4-1/2" strips so could be easily adapted to short pieces of yardage. I see a lot of cutting in my future!

Belfry, sounds like you got some good suggestions. I had to go and look up that Chunky Quarters pattern and it looks like a stash buster!
Today my husband need to go to the VA clinic to drop some paperwork off. Since we would be close by, he wanted to go to Port Huron and do a bit of shopping. He suggested we also go to some of the quilt shops in the area. I actually put the addresses in our GPS before we left, but when he was done with all his errands, I told him to skip the quilt shops. I really couldn't think of any fabric I really needed. Trying to separate those wants & needs...
