Whew! My UFO top is done and it will now wait for me to get the courage to quilt it. It’s going to be my summer quilt for my bed. It’s 87” square and I can’t figure out how I want to make it longer. I only have scraps of the solid rose/pink, mint (looks white in picture), and the rose pink design fabric. I don’t want to add any more of the green with pink flowers which I plan to use for the backing. My niece and I thought a mint colored king size sheet could go under the quilt to give it an illusion of being bigger. Now I’m leaning toward a little darker color and maybe rose/pink. I guess time will only tell. . Suggestions welcome.

It’s history: 2015-did 25 blocks in a BOW; 2016-online person added 24 more blocks for a BOW; 2017- I purchased dashing; 2018-put blocks and horizontal sashing together; 2019-finished the top.

Soon you can call it a finish, retiredT... A maxim shared by a guild member was to go darker the further one goes out..maybe you can find a marble type fabric (or Grunge) that matches the dark fabric in the border and blocks, then use that as a binding. Thanks for sharing your timeline.

Tax appt is a thing of the past...now what...haha. Our accountant teased me about going down the street to "shop"...he knows me too well...bonus is it is one building closer as CPA moved into a larger building next door! And yes I stopped, but that's a story for another thread!

Default UFO progress

Think I will be able to finish this 3-D block wall hanging in February. Worked on mitered borders.

Will do simple quilting, really want to finish this in February.

Oksewglad: I had not heard that maxim. It makes a lot of sense. Thanks for sharing. I was wondering about a grunge fabric. My LQS is getting Grunge in stock now. I better write myself a note to take it with me next week to a class so I can ‘audition’ some fabrics. If it gets much bigger, I may need to have the LQS long arm it. . Wahoo for your taxes being done! Lots of time invested in record keeping for farmers.

sewbizgirl: Thanks! The gal hosting it had us make tubes and then cut the triangle shape. Not sure if I explained that correctly. . It was a new concept for me. I bought my die cutter between the 2 HST Challenge years but I didn’t have the right dies or the expertise to figure it out. I’m much better now and would probably just use a different block size according to my dies. Lol!

judy: I’m cheering for you to finish it. You can do it! Looking forward to pictures.

On a side note: A friend from church called today and asked me if I would come to her house when I had time because she couldn’t get her needle in her machine. I got there and put the needle in quickly (her fingers are stiff and she thinks she was putting it in backwards). Then she told me her needle threader wasn’t working correctly. I quickly realized she had her pressure foot down and that was one of the problems. I also think she wasn’t putting the needle at the right height. My heart hurts for her as I have seen her slow down quite a bit this winter. She was so thankful and I finished a block to make sure the machine ran and put a drop of oil in the shuttle area. She said ‘thank you, Ray.’ Her late husband maintained her machines so that was a special compliment because he was a dear man.

UFO diverted!!!! The recent Dresden quilt I made with scraps was going to hang incomplete for awhile since my fabric is packed and I refused to buy more fabric when a I know I have something. This is going to hospice so I chatted it up with the gals in the guild who are collecting the hospice quilts and one of them said.."just give it to me...I'll finish it for you". Woohoo.... So so nice of her...delivering it to her tomorrow. I felt guilty so I did prepare the batting and binding for her. She just has to do the backing with stash and quilt it. Yea!
