So... this year so far I'm holding to my fabric buying just fine but I think I'm going to change some emphasis. I still intend to work with my Civil War and Metallic stash collections, but I'm really becoming inspired by my bag of hand dyes I bought (and admitted to) last year now that the work of fixing the dyes has been done and I still have all this fabric left after the Frolic Mystery project.

I'm picky about my workmanship and I didn't make my super fancy-dancy Mariner's Compass or Pickle Dish or New York Beauty or whatever master quilt before my eyesight became more challenging, but I think I can make something pretty spectacular with my remaining fabrics and the cover quilt of this book for inspiration:

One of the ladies in my Tuesday group brought the book to pass on to the others and I took it awhile ago but you know how it goes... it got covered by fabric but I found it again the other day. Actually the hand dye stack was on top of it. As designed it's a more of a medallion setting for me, 46" square made with 2.25" strips, going to play with it some at 3" cut and some border options. This is doable for me, basically careful fabric selection and just a lone star with some PP blocks, I can do this level of PP and maybe it would make me feel better about working on the blocks for that Darn Barn quilt (that's the current name "darn barn").

Also in my planned and kitted out sets of fabric is a Lone Star Sampler, made from I think 2" strips and 3 stars across for 9 total. That one will be using blue and white snowflake fabrics.

Cool finishes Ok and Teen.

I leaned over the side of the wagon on Tuesday, but it was a planned lean and I didn't actually fall off. I needed to buy fabric for a class and also replenish my lights and lightish mediums. I ended up with 13 and a half yards of fabric, mostly in remnant pieces. 3 and a quarter yards are for the class project and will be used up within the next couple of months. The rest of the pieces are batiks that will work as light or light-med. blenders. I saw lots of fabric that I really loved, but was able to resist buying any "just because" pieces (even from the remnant pile). Five or Six years ago, (before I discovered the fabric moratorium) I would have come home with a lot more fabric and only a small portion of it would have been useful pieces to replenish gaps in my stash. Yippee!

I went into the lion's den today. Only Hobby Lobby, not my LQS. We have a new Marine in the family, so I need to make a quilt. I sent all my patriotic fabrics to Jane in VA who does QOVs. They had nothing. So it's either check the LQS or wait until Tuesday when I travel 50 miles to see my physical therapist. The facility is in the same mall as JoAnn's. I don't need much - I will mix in a lot of my scraps, so it won't be too serious.

Iceblossom, I made that quilt & love it! Mine isn't perfect, it has some ripples, but I don't care. It hangs on the wall in my bedroom.

Rob, good job on purchasing thoughtfully. It's nice to know this moratorium helps us buy mindfully.

I did go into my LQS yesterday but walked out with notions that I needed, bees wax for my quilting thread and two thimbles. I did not even look at the fabric! Looking forward to constructing something new soon.....from my stash.

FQ Bundle challenge is getting down to bits and pieces with a few colors that are larger. I thought I would be sick of this bundle after 11 projects but I love this bundle. Here is Project 11.... drew this out on draft paper so I could end up with an 18" pillow. I made my pillow form using an old sheet...an idea from someone from the "Mission Organization" thread. Brilliant idea....

I also went into Joann's. I feel very victorious. I'd bought a shirt and looked for a long time for something to make it special. Had to discard a few ideas that would have cost about the same as the shirt. And I have an idea to make an over shirt. Bought just enough to do this.

It's a success because I stepped into temptation and didn't fall.Now if I do that with food.

I feel the same way. Doing well now with the food temptation but boy do I want a Pecan Sandie or a Windmill Cookie!
