Today, while K sewed binding on a UFO, I sewed binding on my Scrappy Stars, a pattern from Pat Sloan. I think she called hers Little Wishes. Mine is 67 X 81, and almost all from my scraps. I did buy sashing/binding fabric & a queen-size sheet from a thrift store. I calculate about 4 yards of stash fabric in scraps. I'll send it to a cousin in south Texas who fell a month ago & broke her hip just a week before her 73rd birthday. She's been in either hospital or a rehab facility with no visitors ever since. I hope it cheers her up.

One of my favorite LQS closed lasted week. They had a month going out of business sell. 25-30% the 1st 2 weeks and 75% the last 2 weeks. Due to the situation of coronavirus, she decided to retire, so everything was sold, including furniture, etc. So I felt obligated to help her out on her new retirement adventure and bought fabric and furniture. That’s my story and I’m sticking with it. LOL.

I see that as wise shopping. I would do the same and have done so in the past. After a while you know your likes and dislikes in fabric and can dive into a sale and make smart purchases that will be used and not just stack up. Good for you for being a smart shopper. Too bad the shop had to close. Small business owners are important to our economy, community and our craft.

Latest report on evacuation. It's been lifted and we're home again. It's still a shock. It's very smoky so hard to work very hard. We've box fan filters going and 24 hrs now and still smoke. I think the air quality is very unhealthy range. Need to do laundry and put things away. Then start cleaning. While at DS got a little fabric to complete a project from scraps and want to start on that probably thursday. Much of the forest around us is burned, sad. On the up note-we'll probably not have another fire in our area for many years.

Pet....So glad your home was spared and sympathetic that your ordeal continues with air quality issues and clean up.

Came back safely from my trip, smoke in central Oregon was really really thick, could only see about a football field. Air wasn't bad at all near Grants Pass, better than Seattle. After that though in the Phoenix/Ashland area an entire mobile home park was burned completely to the ground, there wasn't even any little mounds of appliances, just flat rectangles of ash. Starting in California we could see actual sky and clouds instead of just grey haze. In Sacramento the air was much better than we had at home. As we started back, again smoke from nearby fires around Petaluma and Santa Rosa, but once we got to the coast things were in pretty good shape.

The BnB we stayed at on our last night back (near Springfield, OR) was untouched but the valley had been evacuated during our trip and they had just been allowed back in the day before our arrival.

Am very happy to find decent air back here at home, and I was concerned about the smoke getting into my fabric but they seem ok based on my initial sniff tests. It rained quite a bit last night and this morning, it should be a beautiful day.

Fabric Confession: Not much to report! Did indeed go past Jordan Fabrics in Grants Pass but they remain closed to non-mail orders. There was a Goodwill just off the road somewhere along the way in Northern California and we popped in, there was nothing in the fabric section or the craft section, but the hubby wanted to pick up a shirt and while we were in line I noticed three large bags of fabric near the exit... one of those is mine now, including a number of 60s/early 70s 4 patches and as I say "a piece big enough for a back". Yeah, and a bunch of junky scraps but that happens.

That was my souvenir shopping other than a couple of magnets for the fridge, hubby got a Redwood calendar for us for next year, and we did do some food tourism too.

Ice blossom glad your trip was a successful one- with all that’s going on it can be challenging. Sounds like yours was fairly uneventful ( stress wise) . Hopefully the rain will wash away the residual smoke and you will enjoy some sunny days.

My LQS is closing. A marijuana shop is going into the basement under the store and the owner won't expose the fabrics to the smells. Her out of town landlord won't renew her lease - he must have a better offer. I intensely dislike this!!!! We need the store and downtown needs nice busineses. I am not a fan of recreational marijuana being legal - only medical. And certainly not a fan of putting it in downtown in a pretty tourist town. There are plenty of other locations.
