K & I are currently each working on a quilt which we hope to finish by tomorrow. She's ready to trim & bind a log cabin of her daughter's. It's not a usual LC. No blocks, just I huge continuous top of strips added in the LC manner. It must have been an early top, with many waves in it. Her daughter had no lessons so just sewed fabric she liked. Her seams go from 1/16" to 1/2" and her cutting wasn't always real straight. We've had this before, making for interesting quilting. This time we pinned pleats in a few places which made it much flatter & K sewed them down as part of the quilting. She said it made it much easier than some of the others. I took a new one delivered to us last week & decided to knock out 2 tops in 1 quilt. I used 1 top as the back! The top is bright orange & white, & the other has orange blocks. I'm practicing FMQ on it with my new Baby Lock. I'm almost through with that & will trim & bind today I hope. I'll have our July total tomorrow. I'm at her house from 10 or so until 4, so my cats think I have a job!

Rob, we are having fun. I arrived this morning to find K had trimmed & bound her quilt by herself! Usually she has me trim them. But she was on a roll with the LC & just finished! I had cut & pressed the binding for it before I left. I'm almost through quilting the one I'm working on. It was slower than I hoped today. K wants to bind it, so when I finish quilting, I'll cut the binding & hand it to her. We make a good team. We prepped her next top & the pieces for the back. She also got the 40' by 90" roll of batting she ordered! Many more quilts can be sandwiched now...

Mets quilt - 50x70. Fleece backing.
Actually my SILs UFO/ never started. I started quilting in 2018 and was having so much fun that my SIL said "ok - I'll try it. I want to make a Mets quilt for my father in law" and we worked together on a design - figured out the fabric and bought it....
....And then she.moved to Florida before ever starting the.project. I took the fabric.
And then my particular version of COVID anxiety took over and I decided to just make the darned thing....and here we are.
FYI - Newby quilters and lurkers. This was a nice simple quilt to piece and finish. I hope you can see the quilting pattern. Super easy and fast. Yes you can do it!

Some good finishes for July! I'll have the final count for the UFOs K & I completed by tomorrow. We dug in her daughter's old room today to seek more backing fabric. We found some, too, & brought it & the rest of the tops down to our sewing area. She has a huge table, 8 X 3 feet, built by her husband. We have our machines st opposite ends, on the long sides, so our quilts have the table as support while we work. We use the table to cut binding, trim, & sandwich the quilts. The table sure makes quilting easier.
