This is for people who can't get to a printer 1. Cut out a rectangle 4-1/2 X 2-1/2 inches. 2. Fold one corner over to other side to make a triangle. Flip paper and repeat so you have 2 diagonal lines. 3 mark 1/4 inch on the outside of both folds. 4 cut on the lines you just drew and you have your template.

Thank you for this. It helped tremendously! I have done practices before using kraft paper. But these angles got to me!

Mine won't look like an illusion but a nightmare. Maybe if my wooden mallet holds together I might get them all scrunched together, forget about quilting, is tying allowed? It is fun though. I think Bonnie is an angel or a glutton for punishment for doing this for us. I can't imagine her doing it more than once. Hang in there everyone!!!
LOL. I have this image of someone hammering away with a wooden mallet, like I use for a meat tenderizer, trying to flatten those darned seams. Do post pictures though. We'd love to see where you are. Diamonds are new for me too.

I wish I would have seen this earlier. It took me watching 2 episodes of A Touch of Frost on YouTube to mark 400 of those pesky 2.5 squares. Was going to mark for the smaller triangle. It just wanted to be done.

I did it like Rose Prairie Quilts did it, with the strips, and it has turned out great so far! And easier than the squares & rectangles. Thanks so much for posting that link.

I have 9 broken dishes units sewn together! It shouldn't be hard now to decide on neutrals. Tomorrow I will try making the template and start cutting!

Finished cutting all my rectangles and squares and made a practice unit since this is the first time I'm making this particular shape. Tomorrow ... the drudgery of marking the backs of all those squares!!

Discovered a neat thing about this group. Every now and then I spot one of the same fabrics I'm using.

This is my first MQ. I'm loving it. Never used the Easy Angle Ruler before but it's great. Finished with clue 1. I have all my pieces cut for 2 with one sample. Really enjoying this

I like to sew this way too, Sophie2. I sew a few, press, square up and back to sewing. Seeing the progress motivates me to keep going

I have to have visuals, so I marked my paper template, showing me where to sew the triangles. Too easy to mess up blocks with angles!

Nanny: Great job of getting those points. Joy: I had the dickens of a time with the Chevrons in the Celtic Solistice, no points or line ups in the whole quilt. When it was put together the design was incredibly forgiving. Just keep on keeping on it all comes out fine in the end.
Its true that Bonnie's designs are very labor intensive but in the end, when you put them together, the result is worth the work. With Clue #2 we've completed almost half of the quilt.
