I chose to start with the Fire Department. Because When I asked myself what is the first thing I think of when I think of the Fourth of July. It was Fire Safety and I wanted my 3-P Quilt to be a safe town. So that is where I got the idea. Didnt want to create any Fireworks without the Fire Department on Watch

As for my back and hip. My car was totaled by an elderly lady driver who was chatting with her friends instead of paying attention to the road she ran a red light at approx 60 mph <my estimate> and hit my car. The muscles were torn away from the bones in my hip and created lots of problems with the nerves in my lower back. My muscles tighten/ stiffen up badly sometimes and the Moist Heat helps. Ice usually helps numb but then I still have the problem of not being able to move. So physical therapist recommends Moist Heat for me and lots of stretching. Im hoping once the court case is settled I will have enough money to go to a specialist. At this time Im told there is nothing operable they can do for me. So its all pain management. Quilting sometimes helps me keep my mind off the pain. So I try to focus on it when I can. But there are the bad days. Oh well, so go's life.
I'll tell him. He was totally dedicated and committed to serving. In fact, he is involved in Fire teaching to give back. He worked his way through every rank and the last 5 years of of his career he was the Fire Chief of his department. (I'm a proud wife for sure!)

That is so great that you have the fire department in your quilt town to keep watch!

Sorry to hear about your accident and that the case is going to court. That is such a lengthy process (I worked for a Litigation attorney for 6 years as his paralegal)-and can be so hard on you, especially when you've suffered. Good that you are on top of your pain management and doing what your physical therapist recommends!! Every injury seems different. I hope you have more relief every day!

PS-I didn't see your MQ6 in the Pictures!! (I'm about 1/2 way done with mine....I've been lagging behind on that one as I have several other projects in the works). Didn't get any sewing done today as my DD and my 3 DGbabies (5, 2, & 1) were here and it was chaotic for much of the day (but fun too!) Love spending time with them and get to see them again tomorrow for Father's Day and celebrating my birthday, which is next Tues! I'll also get to see my DS, wife and my other GS as well! Fun with the grandbabies!!

    Whoooooooooaaaaa Girl!!!
(fits with the "take over the reins" comment!)

    Oh no
W4Me ... I cannot take over the reins from you ... you're stuck with that job for LIFE!!!!!!! Thanks re my FWS .... yes I so want to get at Monty. First must finish the FWS' sleeve, then I promise ... though work doesn't seem to be settling as it normally does at this time of the year. ggrrrr!!! But I won't complain as I take it, when I can get it ... and enjoy it when it's quiet, as that's when I get to quilt without regrets for work that needs to be done.

Canada D'Eh looks even better than I had anticipated ... and I know it'd be even better IRL!
Nowwwwwwww if I could persuade you to take it outside for another pic, I bet you'd get that as close to IRL as possible!! Puhleeeeeeeease? Purdy Puhleeaaaaaaase?

Perfect job done on all those leaves!!

And I can't wait to see what you create with your O Canada fabric!!

QuiltE - I was holding off showing the fire engine until all the smaller pieces are sewed on. I will show it before I move on to making the flowers and vines. I must say that your FWS is SEW awesome..really It's just beautiful.

W4me - Yes I have been busy on the board, I am at my limit of projects at the moment so will not be starting anything else new until I have completed whats on my project board at the moment. I dont plan on signing on for anything new until Fall most likely.

Yayaquilts - I use coffee filters as a stabilizer to help prevent shrinkage. I have the spray baste but I use it very sparingly. I posted my MQ6 in the media section where everyone is posting their finished pictures of MQ6

Well I have dozed off about three times while trying to write this... I suppose I will go lay down until meds from yesterday get out of my system. Im not sleeping away another day hopefully. :/

Thank you all for you kind words and advisement on my pain issues. I slept on ice yesterday with a heavy blanket on top of me. Think I will go lay down now just feel asleep again at the keyboard.. LOL

I give up. Hugs my friends. Have a Wonderful day.
    Have an awesome day!

aaaaaha! you're using the Muv instalment plan to keep us intrigued!!! Oh what FUN!!!
I finished my FWS hanging sleeve last night and was so inspired that I started the long awaited sleeve for my OBW. This morning I was figuring out the wording for my FWS Label that MaryKatherine (lives nearby, met her via QB) will do all nice and fancy on her embroidery machine! THEN Mr. Monty!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Do take care ... and if your weather is like ours today, it's a good day to do nothing but lay low and let your back settle!

Jeanie - Have ya tried some therapy? If ya can strengthen your core muscles then ya won't use the back muscles & they can heal better. It takes a while but could be an essential part of your healing. Well it was for me. I sure hope ya can git past this painful time soon. I also use ice, regularly go ta the chiropractor, still do my exercises, & I had an epidural w/a steroid. All of 'em tagether helped me. I do have a disc problem, & I understand how debilitating pain can be. I know that the epidural won't help ya but the other things might. I see that I'm rambling. I hope that this makes sense ta you.

Alrighty now Im awake ..... two hours later or so... Yes Dublb I have been in weekly physical therapy for some time now. The accident was over two years ago. So I have been dealing with this for awhile now. Its just a sad situation. Two of the elderly ladies that were in the car that hit me have already passed away, not from the accident but from old age Im told. This coming October will be three years. The court process will hopefully be completed by then. Anyways I will have bouts where my pain levels are worse than others. Its just the way things are.. so.... SEW its all good. Pain is back to a reasonable level for now; sew Im going to get busy and work on the firetruck so I can show you all the front. Much more fun to chat about quilting.

Time to .... Meet Our Man Monty!
(and I can hear W4Me saying, "It's about time!")

One good thing about having a heat wave ... my sewing room is nice and cool and refreshing and my office not! So when I can't handle it anymore, I have no alternative to seek refuge!!! Last night got the first round of cutting done. Tonight, hopefully get the background cutting done ... maybe even some stitching?

So here heeeeeere's Monty .....Stage One .........

    Name: IntlPatriotic 002.jpg
Views: 155
Size: 1.50 MB

You can see I am still auditioning his hat fabric. Am using some pleather ... hope I don't regret that!! Any tips on that, are welcome. The background fabric is draped to the side ... it has the words to O Canada printed on it! His skin is looking a little too ruddy, so I'm going to stash dive for something better. Already wondering if I can leave his eyes/nose/mouth out? And just let the mustache represent the face?

BTW ... the heat wave? ... it's 32C here again today, with a humidex of 43C! Yesterday I was on the road, so my truck a/c kept me nice and comfy between meetings. Today not so lucky ... stuck in the office, and all I have are some fans! Can you guess why? ... I'm cutting the day short and I'm outta here!

Woo hoo! Yippee! Yee ha! Hi Monty. You are a handsome devil, aren't you?

It looks like Monty should go together quite quickly. Personally, I think the 'stache works well to represent the face.

You know he's going to need a horse next year, don't you?

Summer is trying to arrive here but not doing too good a job of it. 7 degrees when I left for work this morning. Supposed to be nice today and I think tomorrow and then back to a cool Spring Friday.

    Monty says hello, Ladies!
We had a good night together ... and some good progress made. Slow going, as the background fabric is directional, and the pattern does not take that into account. Have found a couple of pieces where the pattern measurements are wrong!! Just slowed me down a little with some frog stitching and new cutting.

    Thanks
JenniKy ... it's kind of a fun project!!!

    W4Me
... Funny thing ... I was thinking now how could I put a horse in there? So, find me a horse that I can put with him, and I could incorporate it in this year's !!!!!!! Another hot hot day tmro/Thursday and then they tell us it will cool off, though I don't think quite so cool as you have it now! I like your idea of a 'stache only face too!!

No worries QuiltE I just love making horses.. and depending upon what you wanted I could possibly try to make you a pattern. But I would need to have an image in my head of how you want the horse positioned next to Monty frontal or standing behind Monty. IDK just a thought. The ones I have done so far have only been head, neck and shoulders. So more of a body would be a challenge.. and you know me and a challenge..LOL

My thought was a horse standing beside Monty (to the right. I don't know why, but to the right when you are looking at Monty.). Only front of the horse would be visible, head, chest and front legs. Well, maybe the tail peeking around the body. But, it isn't my quilt panel. That is, IF it is incorporated into this year's panel. Otherwise, a separate full horsey with a Canadian flag on a pole beside him.

Monty is quite handsome and the 'stache only works!! LIke the head and shoulders of a horse near him. You are so clever!

Maybe the horse might need to wait for next years panel .. It doesnt really look like there is anymore room on that board for a horse next to Monty. He might have to go solo.. only his creator knows. LOL

That's what I was thinking Jenniky. Monty becoming a set of panels that stand independently but can be tunred into a larger wall quilt at any time.
    -Monty 2012
    -Horse 2013
    -Flag 2014
That way, QuiltE has a hope of finishing Monty in time for this year but has projects ready and waiting for the next two year's challenges.

Having FUN without me? ... or should I say with me?

You ladis are all too funny!!!!!!!!
I was thinking a bit on this today ... I think
W4Me and I are spending too much time "with" each other as I'm starting to think like her. Granted .... the horse would be on Monty's right as you mount your steed from his left! And too I was thinking of a straight on view, kind of like Monty. Then I was thinking of Monty riding the horse in the Musical Ride!!!!!!!!

And for any who have never seen our RCMP Musical Ride .... take a look ............
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_LjwhZ9Y5pU

JenniKy ... this would be SO much fun .. you designing and all of us making it, to our own interpretation! And with our own patriotic pride and colours!! Seriously, I'll promise to make it if you create it .... and being that W4Me and I seem to be sharing a brain lately, but have two sewing machines and four hands .... I'll promise for her too! Decision made!!!!!!!!!

BTW ... has anyone seen or heard from
Muv lately ... it seems to me that she's disappeared. Maybe spending too much time down at the local Pub !!!!

    Miss you,
Muv! ... and guess what, the MM will be part of MtheM! (to distinguish between the two!

Yes, this is scary. I, too was thinking musical ride but figured I would be shot if I mentioned it. I wonder if there has ever been musical ride fabric? Hmmm.

Alright I have put Monty and Mount on my project board. I totally enjoyed watching the musical ride and No I have never seen it before. When do you want the design pattern ready by.. I like having a deadline. Also I need to know what the finished size of the panel will be. This is going to be a blast.

Glad you enjoyed the Musical Ride. It really is a hit no matter where, and I can never see it often enough. They do tour the USAm though I see they only have one stop this year, in Maine. Guess their Britain and Germany trip cut short their USA travels this time round. If we're going to Canadianize you, JenniKy ... here's the place the offical Mountie scoop!!!!!
    http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/mr-ce/index-eng.htm

No rush JenniKy ... I won't look a gift horse in the mouth (pun intended)!!!!!!! Size ... I'd say that's your call! I just think that this is so exciting that you'd want to get creative and come up with something!! Bless You!!!!!

Seeing that my left coast brain is thinking I may not finish this, I'll prove her wrong, and finish this one up as is. Though I am at a stalemate til I find some flesh for the man!!! And then can have a new project with yours!

Monty as honour guard. Wonderful idea. Next year he can be promoted and get a horse.
