CPMaple - your quilt is just beautiful! Congrats on the finish.

narnianquilter 04-08-2013 06:33 AM

Wow I disappear for a few days and everyone goes nuts! All of these look great you guys, both the March and April finishes! Hopefully I can get my April done in the next few days...it is my last UFO technically. Then I can start on all my new projects!

carriem 04-08-2013 07:27 AM

michelleoc--good job on this heart quilt; like the ric-rack...that makes it fun.

cpmaple--nice to see this BOTM finished. It looks good. I started but didn't like some of the blocks so ended up changing to a different pattern for some of the blocks....mine is still a UFO and not very high on the list right now.

QuilterMomma 04-08-2013 08:40 AM

I am so loving these finishes ladies. That heart quilt is so adorable. I would hang that on my anyday of the week. That blue string quilt is so fabulous. Oh my Oh My Oh My.

QuilterMomma 04-08-2013 08:41 AM

I have to get the binding on them, but quilted up two of my own yesterday. Goofed on the customer quilt so have to rip some, buggers, so put on a couple of mine just for some mindless work. Felt so good to just let loose and meander for a change. Will post photos hopefully this week if I get my binding done.

Thanks everyone! I am really trying to finish one unfinished project a month! I have a list and love love that I got to check 3 off that list - one for each month so far!

That strip quilt took a Bali pop, which is 40 - 2.5" strips cut the width of the fabric! Then of course you have to add a border or two!

missgigglewings 04-09-2013 11:42 AM

Lovely quilts ladies..Bojangles: is that pattern called Tradewinds?....I want to make that quilt! Darn purple cast comes off my hand next Monday.....I will be so happy!!

QuilterMomma 04-09-2013 12:39 PM

Love that quilt Nancy!!!

I finished up two UFOs that were hanging, well I have binding to do. No, I did not photo them, yes I should, but in a quick rush right now. Just popping in to see how the finishes are going. Yesterday I bought 14 yards of fabric at $5 per yard at the LQS so I was able to get the rest of my UFOs that are hanging up to quilt ready for the machine. I have some customer quilts first but this way I can put one of mine on to practice some new stuff on quilts and not ruin a customers. Or at least rip out stitches messed up. Will be nice to get the done. There are only five of them sitting there still. One I need a back for yet so have to find something else. Well, back to work.

Nancy

I love this one! So much color and your piecing looks amazing. Was it hard to choose the border fabrics? I often have a hard time with borders for scrappy quilts. Yours are perfect.

asimplelife 04-10-2013 07:30 AM

michelleoc--I love your Heart Quilt. I think applique on patchwork is such a pretty look!

cpmaple--Good for you on your BOM finish! I have a hard time assembling blocks that aren't similar for some reason... yours looks great.

There is so much going on in this thread... I think I need to check in daily to keep up (and that's a good thing!). Way to go UFO Busters!

Well at last the March UFO is done. The lattice is the top and the strips are the back. Used nothing but stash to make this one. It measure 105 X 105 it wasn't to hard to quilt on my Brother1500S but it is hard to hang because of its weight so I took pictures on the floor.
I have been working on my April UFO, yet another bed size quilt. The front is pieced except for the borders.

Emma S 04-10-2013 07:55 AM

Forgot to mention and thank the people that helped me add pizazz to the border. I asked people for suggestions to make the border more interesting and got some great suggestions. Love this board.

oksewglad 04-10-2013 07:57 AM

BoJangles--the orange border showcases all the brights in your quilt--nice!
EmmaS--really like the star scrappy:thumbup:

narnianquilter 04-10-2013 08:01 AM

Wow! That is beautiful! I love the color scheme on this one!

kaelynangelfoot 04-10-2013 11:41 AM

Beautiful quilt Emma, nice finish!

carriem 04-10-2013 04:32 PM

Emma--a couple pretty quilts. I really like the corners on the 2nd one.

dublb 04-10-2013 05:04 PM

Oh, oh, oh Emma that's lovely!

Sherryquilts 04-10-2013 05:44 PM

I finally finished my cat quilt. I used fairly simple quilting designs so it finished off quite quickly in the end.

carriem 04-11-2013 01:29 AM

Rose---that cat quilt is very cute. I like the textured look of the cat fabric.

BoJangles 04-11-2013 04:23 AM

Oksewglad, the border was from my stash. I think the orange did work out nicely! I am going to donate that strip quilt to our horse patrol's fund raiser this year.

Rose the cat is really cute! It looks so real staring off into the night!

Emma, I love your quilt! Amazing job on the piecing, but the back really impresses me too . . . . . what a great way to use up your scraps/stash to strip piece the back! Now, I want to do a back like that! Yes, and the front is amazingly pieced, is the fabric the Stonehenge line?

I don't remember the name of that quilt, but it is from Brenda Henning's book "Strip Therapy 6." I was in a strip club last year, and we did every quilt in that book! That was the only one I had left unfinished until now!

Emma S 04-11-2013 06:00 AM

Thank you everyone for the compliments! My kids are fighting over who gets it, so that makes me happy. It has some of the crispness of the modern quilts but a lot more fun to piece. Bojangles, no the fabric is not stonehenge, although I really love that fabric line. This quilt is a scrappy, strictly pieced from my stash, what your seeing is probably my poor photography. It is really much brighter than the picture shows.

michelleoc 04-11-2013 06:48 AM

Emma: your quilts are beautiful!
Rose: the kitty is so cute!

Great finishes y'all!

Lara122 04-11-2013 05:00 PM

Bev, did you say "hand" quilt? wow . . .

emma, those stars are gorgeous, you did a great job balancing 'scrappy'!!

I am constantly awed by the gorgeous things on this board! That cat quilt?!! wow!!!
amazing work ladies, as always!!

dublb 04-11-2013 06:01 PM

Yes Lara. Hand quiltin' is my first love in the quiltin' world. I have needed a hand quiltin' project for a while. I have been workin' on a GFG for a bit & am gittin' a bit bored w/it. I'm gonna make my self do 1 petal on the GMF before I can hand quilt. Reward myself. :) I do my hand work at totally different times. My hand work is while I wait. Like while at a Dr.s office, or when someone is in the hospital, or when travelin' as a passenger. :)
