Now aren't those just way too cute?
carriem and a simplelife you both did a wonderful job!
what a great idea for a holiday table runner! they'll hate to pack it up when christmas is over!!
Carriem and asimplelife: beautiful completed projects for April. Foxflower - darling table runner! I love anything Christmas...
I did finish FMQing TWO quilts for my daughter in April, despite a new grand baby and one set of kids invading for a few days before their move from Florida to North Dakota. I have one last quilt for DD to finish. I'm half done and loving them all even though I'm pretty new to quilting by myself. I need a LOT of practice but hey...TWO finished thrills me. I'll post pictures as soon as I finish the third quilt. :D
Well, I totally missed the April UFO...but I finished 4-5 in Feb/March so that counts for something right? Go with it.
Right now I need a kick in the pants ladies! I am almost 42 weeks pregnant and can't get the energy up to do anything! And i need to finish 2 quilts by June 20th! Here's hoping! |
LOL You don't need a kick in the pants, you need to have that baby. Congratulations! Do you know what you are having?
Great finishes this week and last!
Remember even if you didn't finish your "April UFO" you can finish it in May and still call it done. :) Just have fun and don't stress!! My May project has more left that previous months, so I might be telling myself this come June 1st! Only time will tell. |

Three finishes for April-May. I think I counted them as March too... LOL
My daughter's family went to Disney World last spring. 2012. Each of her three children had a clipboard with fabric squares which they used to collect the character signatures. She whipped them into quilts as soon as she got home then left them with me. Long story, short... the lady who was suppose to quilt them fell through so I stepped up. I had this great idea of putting Mickey Mouse ears all over them. First pic is the first finish. 84"x68". Big Mickey on the siggi and many many Mickey ears everywhere else. Second pic, second finish. 92"x78". Pink Disney, yes for Princess GD. Echo Mickeys over siggis and flowers and hearts for filler. Third pic, third finish. 94"x72". Star-burst Mickeys on siggis. Straight lines in four directions for filler and castles w/fireworks on the border. I LOVE them all. I feel bad I got better as I went, and more creative. Truly, I am a beginner at free motion. The first quilt was JUST Mickey ears. Then I got more bold and creative as I went on. The castle border I printed as clip art, pinned the picture in it's spot, and sewed over the outline, then spent today removing paper 40 castles total, I think. |
Sheri: What a great job on all three, good memories captured. So you don't have enough UFOs of your own so you have to have other people start them for you? LOL

I tried to get this finished for April but between physical issues & having grands here it didn't happen. But it worked out well because I changed my plan. The patchwork was from a lap quilt I made back in 1970 when I was 15yr & recovering from surgery. It was tied & so easy to take apart. My plan was to leave it as a lap quilt & FMQ but in an email from FaveQuilts there were directions for a sewing machine cover that just tied on & was reversible. I knew it was right for my patchwork!
The other scrappy side is made from scraps left over from Craftsy BOM 2012. The neat thing is when I look at the patchwork I can recall clothes I had made from the fabrics. I started making my clothes when I was 12 so that's when my addiction to fabric really started-LOL. I may make another cover with the other half I have left from the patchwork. Joyce--both are very pretty. Can we see a picture of one on your machine?
It's 1 piece, just reversible. I'll get a pic of it on my machine & post. I made this for my big Babylock Esante but the nice thing about it not being fitted is that if I want to use it on another one I can or even use it for a different machine.
Joyce: What a great idea. Like Carriem, I would like to see them on a machine so that I understand how they fit. Love that they hold memories. Wish I had got an earlier start.
That's a great idea and looks terrific.

Here's the reversible sewing machine cover on the machine. It has ties on either side but it's heavy enough that I can just lay it over it & it stays. It was a quick project once I decided to get it done.
MiniK that is super cute and such a great idea!
Looks great Joyce! Its especially nice you can use them for any machine. Thanks for the photos.

How special to use that and make the whole thing reversible. great Job.
Sheri, you Disney quilts are marvelous!
Joyce, that's such a pretty cover whichever way you use it. What a great idea.
everyone's projects look great! I'm going to wait until the end of the month to post mine, hopefully I'll have more than one finished before then!
asimplelife hasn't posted since 5/1. She's usually finished with at least 4 UFO's by this time of the month. I hope she is alright and either on vacation or just working on a very big UFO! |
I agree, I hope she is ok. Boy, I am not on with the challenge this month. I still have the five UFOs to quilt. I am hoping this weekend I can finish up some so I can show something.
Oh, boy! A way to get my UFO's done. I'll take the challenge. Maybe this will be a way for me to sow something new every month at my craft group.
Sorry "sew". Typo error.
Welcome quiltinglady. I know I have completed more quilts this year than ever before.

I haven't posted what I am working on even though I have completed at least one UFO every month, so far this year. This month I am making a special quilt for a special friend. I call it Jessie's Sparkle Stars, It is bright and pretty and sparkles just like my friend Jessie. This is the only picture I have taken so far...you can see what I did! I have un-sewn the foot from the quilt and am happily quilting away on it today! Hope you get a smile from this...I will post a completed picture as soon as it is!
