May has been a busy month for me... I finally finished a UFO yesterday and am hand sewing the binding on another one now.
This is Shabby Strings - made from blocks swapped with 2 online friends from another quilting forum back in 2007 or 2008. I had it professionally quilted in March and was disappointed to find that my LAQ had switched the backings on the quilts accidentally. After putting them away for a few months I decided to leave them as they are and finish them. I'll post more about that when I post pictures of the 2nd one in a few days. Then I'll go back in this thread and catch up on all the great UFOs I've missed in May! |
asimplelife---this is another great finish for you.
|
Love the soft colors. a simplelife.

Asimplelife: Love string quilts and yours uses beautiful colors. My next UFO is a string quilt that I started using the quilt as you go method. I stopped working on it because I didn't like the way the connections looked. Well decided to rip all the intersections and start joining them again. The quilt is made with Batik strings so it is very colorful.
The attached quilt is my April UFO. It is bed size and only the third quilt I have FM. Yes I am still trying to complete one a month. Way behind |
Emma--pretty quilt and great quilting!
|
asimplelife: beautiful quilt. I love the colors.
emma - your quilt is amazing, the quilting really stands out. |

My UFO for May. I can see the pattern in my mind, it was one of those patterns that comes in the small plastic bag, but for the life of me I can't find it! So, I can't tell you the name of the pattern, sorry. I started this about two years ago and put it aside when it was ready to be quilted. I did diagonal straight line quilting of varying widths, and I did broken glass FMQ on the border.
|
michelleoc--this is a fun quilt!
I have mine done for May....just need to get my "quilt holders" rounded up so I can take a picture. |

May finished project: Roxanne's Log Cabin
|
Carriem, very pretty.
|
Wow, alot of beautiful finishes. Such gorgeous colors. Michelle your quilt glows, love that stained glass effect. Carrie love your purple and green. Two of my favorite combinations, then with that pop of gold. Nice work.
The best I can say about my May project is I actually picked it up again before May was over. Clinging to the fact that I have completed four bed size UFO's this year. |
Congrats to those that have checked off somemore UFO's...bowing head in shame....I have only completed a few doll quilts & a few table runners...and they weren't on my UFO list.
|
carrie - your quilt is beautiful
Emma - four bed-sized quilts completed already? You're doing great! craftiladi - we've got a few more months in the year, you still have an opportunity to compete some UFO's. |
May Finish

This was started last Sept...the pattern search! I started a thread here and got lots of ideas. This was a 9 patch wonky star that I just sorta made up as I went along. It was done and presented May 23rd...just no time for pictures. I wanted the colors to sparkle and the quilt to be a happy one because that is what my friend, Jessie does, she just sparkles with life...so I named her quilt Sparkle Stars for Jessie!

Lovely missgigglewings!
|
What a bright fun quilt missgigglewings! I am sure it will be loved by your friend.

missgigglewings - the quilt is stunning! Your friend will love it.

Missgigglewings: What a lovely quilt. Really like the way the lattice work looks.
|
Emma - I love the colours you've used and the quilting looks really impressive.
|
Asimplelifequilts - love the colours that you've used. The quilt looks really peaceful.
|
I was so enthusiastic at this posting at the beginning of the year! Now we are in June and I HAVE taken 3 UFO's out of the drawer and done a little bit on each - still no further grrrrrrrrr!!!!!
how do I save this thread to find it again? |
Just by posting it should show up on your subscribed thread list. Good luck at getting those 3 UFO's done!
|
Think positive, SandiGrove! At least you worked on them!

Nice job girls. Love these finishes. You have done well!!!!! I have been around, just not checking this thread. Now I can say I finally finished a few thing.
|
QM---very nice finishes!
|
3 diverse projects QMomma--nicely done.
|
The double wedding ring runner is over 10 years old, the triangle runner I started six years ago. Uh you think I was a little slow on making them. LOL. I am hoping to show some more ufos that are in the finishing stages. I have five waiting to be quilted, four baby quilts almost done and ready to quilt. Praying they all come together real soon. Tired of looking at them.
You think back surgery worked? Now lets talk about some more that are waiting on binding. LOL Four of those behind the television set. |
I am loving this one. You did a nice job.

QM: Great finishes. Really well aged projects. Glad to hear that your surgery made a positive difference.
|
At least they are not as old as me. My MIL gave me a grandmother's garden quilt to hand stitch. That was approximately 10 or more years ago. Yep, it is still there waiting for me to do some mroe on it. Since then she has given it to me. Hand quilting is not my thing, but I will finish it sometime. It is 1/3 done.
|
QM: great finishes! Your projects are very pretty and you must feel such a sense of accomplishment for having completed them, especially considering how long they've been hanging around!
|
Yes I do. I have been working hard to finish up all those projects I started. One gal in my quilt group wonders why I am doing. She asked me once if I was afraid then I would not have anything left to do. Imagine that. You have a a stash of fabric and you finish all your ufos, and nothing to do?
