Carriem - your quilt is gorgeous. The flange is really nice, that's a new technique that i've been wanting to try out.

I'm pretty proud of this UFO Finish... at 60.5" by 72.5" it is the biggest top I have quilted myself by far. And, I'd do it again!
The blocks are from an online swap at the HGTV Forum years ago (2006 or so). I assembled the top right after the blocks arrived and bought backing for it intending it to send it out for quilting at some point. I'm going to keep it in my car to use at outdoor sporting events for a cuddle quilt. |
Oh, as, it's a great finish. I really love it.
|
Nice job. 9 patches are so versatile.

simplelife--another great finish! I'm tackling my UFO pile--no I won't count them--would take too much time:D
Today spray basted a 2009 UFO and will be quilting that later this week. Finished the binding on this Christmas wall hanging. It's small enough for a table topper too. Guess I shouldn't have used the gray back ground--quilt attached to the fleece so nicely though! |
I think it looks good with the gray.

September's finish is from a 12 block swap in 2009! I finally know someone who is into Hot air Balloons!
|
Well, dang, had I known you were looking, I would have volunteered ages ago. We crewed for a hot air balloon pilot for about 8 years before moving from Ohio to New York. What a wonderful time that was! A free ride for every 10 times of crewing.
|
Wow great finishes this month!! I hope to have a couple more small runners done to share by the end of Sept. I am just glad the airplane quilt got finished!
|
oksewglad - Beautiful finish! I love the how the diamond grid of white squares sets off the other blocks.
missgigglewings - Adorable hot air balloons... how fun! I went hot air ballooning in Napa Valley 2 years ago - something I always wanted to do. Loved every minute! |
All of the finishes are so pretty...I'd better get busy!
|
A very striking quilt, glad you finished. Makes me think I better get busy on my ufo's
|
So excited to see the airplane quilt done. You have been diligent to get it finished, awesome job!!!!
Nice ninepatch quilt. It feels so good to get those swap blocks done. I would love to fly with your hot air baloon quilt, just pm me and I will send my address on over. LOL Fantastic finishes ladies. I do not have any right now. I am going to have to catch up with you. I am going to have a couple here in the next week or so, as soon as I can get some of my own quilting done. So busy with customers and garden that mine are on the back burners. |

Didn't take much for me to finish this--but glad that it's done and ready for Valentines Day. Measures 20 x 38. Look--big blocks!!

OK. Nicely designed table runner. I could picture it in many different fabrics, which would change the mood entirely. Congrats on the finish!
|
Oh WOW! Everyone is getting busy getting these UFOs done.... Yeah.
asimplelife-- love the 9-patch. Aren't they fun? Yours will make a perfect cuddle quilt. oksewglad-- You've been really busy... 2UFOs finished. I love them both. X-mas quilts are favorites of mine..... great wall hanging. And your tablerunner is just too cute. I love the fabric..... cute little characters. missgigglewings-- Hot air balloons are a great subject for a quilt.... and each one is different. Beautiful! We once had a hot air balloon land in our front yard... the dog was going crazy. When they landed, they whipped out wine glasses and a bottle of champagne and toasted us for being the landowners. That was probably 30 years ago but a fantastic memory. And the champagne wasn't bad either. I'm still working on my next UFO.... have to sandwich it together and quilt it..... takes me awhile...... |
It really is a good feeling to get those pesky UFO's done isn't it?
re: hot air balloons--this has me thinking. Brother assists on a balloon crew in NM. Hmmm maybe an idea for him? |

oksewglad - That is the cutest fabric! I like how you have really shown it off.
This UFO has been the worst of the worst - A Stalled UFO! I have had it on my quarterly finishing challenge for Q1, Q2 AND Q3. It was orginally a twin size quilt from the book "Open a Can of Worms" by Debbie Caffrey. The coins were from an online swap and had been sewn together in 2006. But I just wasn't feeling it anymore... so I decided to downsize it into a Project Linus size (about 48" x 60"). I used the leftover coins to make a pieced backing. Now that it is FINALLY done I'm kind of loving it again! I really like how the quilting turned out on this one so I'm including a closeup pic. |
I really like your simple quilting lines; asimplelife. A cute backing as well.

Well here it is, she measures 130 X 130. Never say never, but it is going to be a long time before I make another king sized quilt. Thank you everyone for "listening" to be moan month after month after .......! The best thing about this one is that its done.
Finally I can go to the next UFO, a blue and white Irish Chain. Only 98 X 98. |
Emma - your quilt is stunning!! It's bright, but earthy, the way you have combined the colors. Very nice!.
|
asimplelife: I love the soft yellow you used on that precious little quilt! Someone is going to love it! And Emma your quilt is lovely! I would love to do that pattern in blues and greens...maybe a little purple thrown in with some soft colors...Bucket List item!
|
Oh my goodness Emma, no wonder it took so long and you stuck with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
130 x 130, wow, you had some determination. So proud of you. Congrats, did I say it enough OMG! Great Job!! Love the table runner and that coin quilt is so adorable, anyone who gets tthat will love it. Who says you have to wait till Valentines day to enjoy the runner? Not me. |
Now that was a huge accomplishment Emma! Well done.
|
Wow Emma S! That is hugely gorgeous.
|
"Only 98x98"! :)
Your continent is lovely. |
Thanks everyone! I have been so close to it for so long that I can't even tell what it looks like anymore. I'm hoping that after I wash it and let it age for a while I'll like it again too. It's for my daughter, she probably has given up on it by now.
|
ASL, very cute. The fabrics in this one are awesome..... why didn't you like it? And your backing is perfect. I always fret about the backing when I really shouldn't..... it's a backing. Using some of the blocks is a great idea. I'll have to try that.
|
Oh Emma.... your quilt is wonderful. I love those colors and the brown around the blocks really pulls everything together. I know what you mean by not wanting to make a king size again. I made one for my DGD when she married and I said never again, too. So far, I've been able to keep that promise....... really don't like having to quilt one that big.
|
Looks like we've had a busy week. Congrats everyone on all the finishes, they are lovely!

Once I made a decision and put the reduced version together I did like it but I think it works better as a smaller quilt. |

Oh My EMMA!! Hugely gorgeous is so right! That counts as 6-7 finishes in my typical size. It is beautiful but I can't get over the size...
I have a (ahem...little) finish - UFO# 40 for the year is ABC Charms. The alphabet charms came from a swap on another forum about 5 years ago. It is always amazing to me how well swap quilts turn out! I'm giving this one to a 3 year old boy in my extended family. |
Yippee you are at #40. Almost there girl.
|
ASL.... it's an adorable quilt. It is perfect for a little boy..... in fact, I need to make a little boy quilt for my cousin's new GBaby..... hmmm makes me think. What size are the squares before you put the sashing around them? I love the stripe fabric..... really cute.
|
asimplelife - LOVE the ABC charms. What a darling quilt. It's funny, isn't it...you look at a bunch of fabrics and wonder how they are going to look together, then once it's done it's beautiful!
|
asimplelife.....that is an adorable coin quilt. I'd take/make it in a minute (wish that were literal, I'd actually take me a long time based on how well I get things done). Good job.
Emma, that thing is huge! I made a quilt 120 x 120 and thought that was big. Your daughter will have plenty to cover her pillows with. I do love string quilts. I'm collecting strings to make one eventually, but not that big. |

That little boys quilt is adorable!
|
Wow some more great finishes since I checked in. I got the binding done on a table runner while away on a trip...camera is still packed, but I will share a picture in the next couple days. Might even get another runner binding done by the end of the month.
|
ASL, that striped border is perfect for your quilt! Congrats on finish #40.
