Nice quilt Krista. I have looked at that pattern and thought twice about it, but your colors makes it so appealing to try.
Simplelife, ring ring again! Nice job ladies. I am feeling left out because I have not finished any ufos since the end of last year. I still have nearly 30 to go, but slow at moving on them. My daughter did make a quilt for her boyfriend in Ravens and Broncos fabrics and quilted it this weekend. I got the Denver Bronco quilt cut out for the neighbor, his valor quilt before he leaves overseas, and then my row robins are coming along. I suppose the DQ I made for November's swap can count as a ufo because I was late on it, then I did finish the table runner for the swap and mailed on time though. Ah, I will get in gear here after tax stuff is done. I can tell I do not have a goal this year so I am going to have to sit down and set myself some goals and get me a plan so i stay on track of finishing up the UFOs and scraps. |

My first UFO is into Flimsy form! I just have to decide what to do for the quilting.

I love rail fence quilts and yours is no exception cattailsquilts! And, I think your hanging method for photos is quite ingenious too... do you mind sharing what you are using?

I just use some pant/skirt hangers & hook them on the moulding around the door to my studio. It lets me hang decent size quilts, though anything larger than that will have to be hung off the balcony... Eep!
Here's two coasters that I just finished, that are truly out of the UFO pile now! :) |
cattailsquilts...I really like your rail fence quilt and coasters...great to finish those little UFOs too!!

My FIRST finish of 2013.
I am making 29 scrappy quilts out of my MIL's stash. She's 90years old and was worried about what would become of her treasure. I suggested quilts for each of her children and grandchildren. I will name them all "From Grandma's Closet". This pattern is from the Stash Buster Scrappy MYSTERY QUILT Mini-train Ride hosted by PaintMeJudy. Sorry it's so bright.. but it is...bright... lol yipee fuchsia! This was my first ever attempt at free-motion quilting. I was sooo scared! It all puckers in the wash though so... (That's going to be my motto for the next 28 quilts...It all puckers in the wash...) I quilted stars and swirls in the star, free motion in the 9patches and a heart/flower/heart in the sashing. It was my second attempt at mitered binding. I was nervous through the whole sewing process. It's almost like grandma's fabric whispers to me. I remember many of the pieces. |
Fabulous rail fence and nine patch stars! Love the story and sentiment SheriR.
This is the best thread and company around. :) |
I definitely need to join this! Like the rest of you my UFO stack just keeps growing. I have several different stages of completion going on so my goal is to get each one to the next stage. That may be figuring out what sashing goes with a set of blocks and getting them to a completed top, sandwiching and pinning the top so it is ready to quilt, actually doing the quilting, or sewing on the binding. I currently have one that I just have one more side of the binding to do and it will be completely finished. Should have that one done in the next day or two. It is the one from the ugly fabric challenge. Really like how it came out. If I can figure out how to get pictures from this phone to resize I will gladly post a picture when it's all done.

Ringing the bell for meeee!!!!! Yayyyyy, I sent off the first complete version of the pattern for my Focus Point quilt to the Alpha tester. Now I just have to wait to hear what changes I need to make for the final copy!!

Great finishes everyone! I thought I'd share a button I made for my blog... this is my mantra for 2013!
|
I finished my first FMQ quilt ...a square sort of crib size. this was my first attempt of any thing this large and everything previously had been straight line (and some wavy lines) with my walking foot. It's far from perfect but I did it and now have some confidence built up for the next one! I discovered that marking on the " golden threads" paper was a big help in conquering spaces. Can't wait To do some more.

Cute quilt Shadowirish! Love those colors.
Here is UFO Finish #7 - Shabby Roses! The pattern I used is called "Down the Garden Path" from an April 2002 issue of McCall's Quilting. This quilt was inspired by a set of fat quarters I bought from Keepsake Quilting. The fabric line is Tudor Garden by Faye Burgos for Marcus Brothers. This quilt was pieced in 2005 and professionally quilted in Dec. 2012. I had to scramble to piece a backing large enough when I realized I had not purchased enough of the large floral on green. Fortunately I found the matching large floral on tan in my stash and had enough leftovers from the top to make it work! |
Oh I love your colors. Roses are a favorite o' mine. :) Ring the bell & sing the song.

asimplelife you are just burning through those UFOs! High 5.

Lovely quilt Shadowirish!
Love your roses asimplelife! The colours are wonderful and the quilt is just beautiful. Well done both of you. |

Missgigglewings...love your handle BTW...here is a description from Amazon:
Golden Threads Quilting Paper tears away cleanly without pulling your stitches, and stabilizes all weights of fabric. Create your own stencils with the no-marking method! You can use it for trapunto, sketching and tracing, applique, machine embroidery, altering, garment embellishment, paper piecing, duplicating and designing patterns, bobbin work, home decor sewing, and much more! Complete instructions included. 20ydx12" At first I tried drawing my pattern on just plain paper, but it was a pain to remove the paper...so I tried the GTQP and it really does tear away pretty cleanly. The directions say to stitch you pattern on the paper and then use the pounce pad to mark your quilt...I just drew my pattern directly on the paper and then positioned it on the quilt. Now if I could only draw better! I just haven't got the hang of meandering without some guidance.....need more practice! |

OK, I'm back. I was a regular on the boards till about 6 months ago, but since then have had some time away from my sewing machine - not sure why - it wasn't a conscious decision. I just needed a rest and got distracted by other things, I suppose.
For the past week or two I've been picking up my sewing again, and yesterday I decided to sort out all the UFOs - I have far more of those than I do finished projects! I've made a list of all 31 of them on my blog http://annes-threads.blogspot.co.uk/...-and-usos.html and am now feeling inspired to get back to work on them. I can rarely work steadily on one until I finish, because a tight budget often means something has to be put aside until I can afford the materials I need to continue with it, but I've decided to go as far as I can, note what I need to buy, then pick up another one in the meantime. There are enough that I'm unlikely to find myself without anything to do! The first one is this one which needs borders adding. Then it'll have to wait until I can get some black wadding. |
annesthreads, very pretty.

I am working on a quilt that I am up to tying it. I tried to do some free motion quilting but my thread kept breaking every 2 inches. So now I am tying it. I will post a picture when I am finished.

Looks like lots more finishes this past week...yay!!
I still might get mine done...if this pesky headache would just stay away...maybe after a nap! |
Well I need this group. My goal this year is to finish one UFO a month. I generally hand quilt which is very time consuming. So I am now trying QAYG. See if that helps me get going. LOL. The Quilt I am working on to finish this month has gone through several errors. I forgot to square up the blocks before assembly and quilting and you know what happened. I had to take the entire quilt apart and redo. But I am happy with it now and it seems to lie smoothly which it was all wonky before. LOL. Live and learn. Kudos to all of you who have already completed a ufo.

Whootttttttttttt whoottttttttttt .... the train whistlesssss welcome to all our new members and wow, we are sure happy to have you joining us!
If you need help, encouragement or just someone to listen when you need to let off some steam, you are in the right place!!! We are here to do everything except enable you to have more UFOs.... well lol, who am I kidding? Most of us will always have more UFOs... just hopefully we will learn to keep them to managable numbers once we tame the ones we have now. Not that all of us are hopelessly buried under masses of UFOs. Some just have a few and want to learn from the examples of others and catch them before they overwhelm. Whatever your situations, we are delighted to have you with us and look forward to seeing your finished projects. Also, don't forget our sister thread where you can share photos and discussions of your UFO's in progress and you plans on tackling your projects. Hugsssss and smilesssss |

I've added borders to one of my UFOs today. It's been put away for now, to wait till I can get batting, backing fabric and thread. On to the next one!

Annesthreads that is looking great! Hooray for progress !

I have had this quilt in progress for over a year. I bought the fabric in November 2011. I cut it out before retreat in March 2012. I think I finished piecing the top in October. I just hung it in a closet because I was sick to death of it. It is my third UFO for the month and the only one I have a picture of. My DIL sent the picture via her cell phone. So, please forgive the quality.
http://i962.photobucket.com/albums/a.../IMG950385.jpg The good news is she absolutely loves it. It is from the Cattails and Clover collection by Kansas Troubles. As soon as I saw the fabric it said, "SARAH!" So, I made this for her from it. |

My January finishes......Front flimsy first, then the pieced flannel back.
Funky cat top from the 2011 swap. The strip down the middle is made from a couple of receiving blankets that came home from the hospital with my daughter. I wanted to keep them, but in a useful way. So, I put them in this quilt for her, along with the "label," which is a preprinted block that I wrote on. |
