Because he has a twin bed I took the last yellow border off and used the fabric for the binding! Worked perfectly....and he loves it! It is called Cosmic Dreams and I love what everyone added to make this an exciting and vibrant quilt!

Stunnin'! Just Stunnin'!!

OK guys, this is the week of UFOs! I just mailed out a quilt that has been gathering dust for weeks and started on the final quilting for my daughters baby quilt (she is now 18 months old!). After that, Friday and Saturday are dedicated to quilting 2 Christmas quilts that did not get finished, and then ALL MY UFOS ARE DONE!! Be watching as pics hopefully will follow tomorrow and the days to follow!

Hi Mary-haven't seen you on board for a while. Thanks for the complement.
Oh and to have only 3 UFO's, narnianquilter! Wow.

Emma S 03-19-2013 05:23 PM

Narnianquilter, I am so envious! How many did you start with?

Here is baby quilt I made from Boom 8 blocks! It is for a little girl due on March 30th...along with her twin brother! He gets his own quilt!

top row: okDarla, JeannetteA, girlscout1
2nd row: Wendsy, dotcomdtc, oma7
3rd row: SherrieW, wandalou, roseysue

Butterfly on back: the only one I didn't get marked...please tell me if you are the creator of this beautiful applique block!

Fraew 03-19-2013 05:39 PM

Well at the first of the year I had 6 to finish...but the problem is I have 6 more quilts waiting in the wings. One is a commission piece for a college student, one a memory quilt for my sister in law, one a gift for my husband, and three are wedding gifts. The deadlines for those are May 17th, whenever, July 11th, September 13th, December 21st and one unknown that may spill over into next year...so I HAVE to to get these UFOs off my table to so my incoming works can replace them!

Awesome!!!!

Emma S 03-19-2013 06:31 PM

Narnian: Well my UFOs are more like fourteen with no deadlines so I guess I am lucky, except my kids have all placed dibbs on their favorites. I keep telling them that I will be a better quilter as I go along so the last quilt will be the best. Not sure they agree but may keep my son in place because he got the first one.

Sherryquilts 03-19-2013 06:53 PM

Oksewglad, those are so cute! I have been working on some NICU items as well - receiving blankets, crocheted hats and quilts. I remember going to visit our GS and having a cheery new quilt or a cute new hat, it really brightened our day!

Well those little items take a lot less time than the beauties you posted earlier. So pretty.

My UFO to Hotmess

I started this one a number of years ago. Started hand quilting it but had issues and finally required surgery on a thumb joint. This sat FOREVER, picked it up again and decided to finish it on the machine. It was a very early project and I had no idea what I was doing. So last week it finally went from UFO to a Hot Mess, lol.

That is beautiful! I have always wanted to do a quilt like that...I just can't decide on colors. So far I want a pink one a green one and purple one....

And at last here is my longest running UFO complete! Just wrapped it up this morning. Pic still has the unsnipped threads, but it is done and ready to go!

oksewglad 03-20-2013 07:24 AM

Yeah two more off someones lists!

michelleoc 03-20-2013 08:16 AM

Louise607 - doesn't look like a hot mess to me. It's really pretty...congratulations on finishing it.
Narnianquilter-your quilt is pretty. Are the ladybugs appliqued on?

dublb 03-20-2013 09:08 AM

Louise - I just love the Irish Chain & yours is no exception! It's lovely.
Narian - Such a sunshiny quilt. So bright & cheerful.

And another one's down, and another one's down, and another one bites the dust!

Actually the lady bugs, vines, flowers and sun are all appliqued and hand stitched. I started this project before I ever got a sewing machine and part of the reason it ended up a UFO is because when I did get a machine I was too scared to try and machine quilt it after I had put so many hours in by hand.

Lara122 03-21-2013 03:33 AM

wow, Narnia! you started with with that!? fantastic job. your learning curve must be a straight line!! lol

omacookie 03-21-2013 04:52 AM

My local Guild began the Finish the UFO project about 2 years ago. We now show them at show and tell also we are entered in a drawing for a gift card at Christmas. It is getting us to clean out the bags of ufo's and make love gifts of them. Thank God. Hugs

narnianquilter 03-21-2013 03:38 PM

Thanks Lara! I had a friend who walked me through things step by step for a while and that really helped. Then we moved and I had a few issue- until I found this board! I am learning things I didn't even know were possible! (Like the fact that you could use 2 different colors of thread for the top/bottom of the quilt) My next project after the UFOs are some FM QAYG!

mom-6 03-21-2013 07:14 PM

This is the most awesome board! Great people, fantastic pool of knowledge, fabulous willingness to share, and wonderful encouragement. What more could anyone ask for?

Oh, I don't know, quilting elves? Never mind, they probably wouldn't do it like I wanted anyway. How about copious amounts of pasteries that don't make you fat or unhealthy? ;) They say it never hurts to ask.....

Well, the weekend of UFO's is going slowly. My husband is gone and I was going to pass my daughter off to a friend for the day so I could get some serious quilting done. Then my daughter ended up sick, and we've been battling fever for the last 3 days. However, 2 of the 3 projects I wanted to complete are done! I posted my daughters quilt earlier this week (it's already been initiated by being puked on) and I just finished up a quilt for a friend. The only thing left to do is a few things I want to applique onto the top! One more to go, and I have 3 hours before the husband gets home!

Emma S 03-23-2013 01:02 PM

Narnian: Love your quilt, think the binding in that purpley color really frames the whole thing. Really a neat quilt.

michelleoc 03-24-2013 09:02 AM

Everyone's projects looks great! I can't tell you how much I appreciate this board - it keeps me motivated to finish all my UFOs. I've finished one project for March, but am hoping to have a couple more done before the end of the month. Just putting it out there, hoping that I don't jinx my sewing machines or anything!

dublb 03-24-2013 11:55 AM

Start ringin' the bells & sin'in the song!!!! Ya ladie's are doin' great.
I've been workin' so much on several things that I don't want ta become UFO's. LOL
This is one o' 'em. My PC block exchange. :)

If ya notice there are 2 squares at the bottom that are red. I took the bottom row off & sewed it back on wrong again. LOL I now have that fixed & have put one border on. A tiny turquoise one. I plan on a 2" black one then a tiny red one & another 2" black one. Then I'll bind it in turquoise. I have been also workin' on my DGD's quilt. I don't have a pict o' that loaded onta my computer yet. Maybe These won't become UFO's. :)

Wow, I haven't been in here for a while to look at all your finishes! I love them all! Congratulations everyone! I have been very busy with an ill FIL all month! I didn't think I'd get a finish this month, but I am going to try to quilt a strip quilt top that is ready to be quilted, hopefully tomorrow! I did get a finish in January and February, but March is going to be iffy! You all really inspire me to get back into my sewing room and get another UFO done before Easter!

Nancy
