Oh, don't do that! I have a closet full of tops so when I get on a quilting binge the finishes come quickly since I machine bind my Project Linus tops too. I look back and wonder what I was thinking while I was piecing all those tops... were they magically going to quilt themselves???
Now if I had 60 UFOs that were all king sized projects I'd be crawling into a dark shaft or just waving the white flag and looking for a new hobby. LOL |
Oh but they could be flying geese, Lara. There are always loads of different ways of making up quilt blocks - I just happened to use a way that didn't involve flying geese.
|
Jacki they are gorgeous. Really striking colours. Well done.
|
Jacki, what a great job on the pillows! Those would look great in my guest room, which is done in lavenders and purples!
Nancy |
Jacki: Oohh, now you have got me curious. I'm looking forward to seeing your ugly completed UFO!
Emma: So sorry about your bump in the road, but I'm glad you've taken a page from Scarlett O'Hara's book. Think of how much greater the accomplishment will feel when the quilt is completely finished. Hoping that today is better for you... |

This reply contains a warning! There will be some serious whining.
I was in the process of putting the three layers together when I noticed that one row was backwards. The lights have been turned off and there will be some TV watching in my near future. Tomorrow is another day. At least it was noticed before the layers were basted together. |
OMG!!!!! Surpised is what I was when I got this B E A U T I F U L quilt in the mail from my wonderful sister. How very lucky am I to receive such a thoughtful gift. I'm not sure if this qualifies as a UFO - I made it last year using quilt as you go so all that needed doing was the binding. It's taken me six months to sew the binding on, but I'm so pleased that it's finished at last.

Ok I just found this swap too and I want to count this as my February UFO lolol. I have no idea when I made this top. I pieced it and it has been hanging in my closet waiting to go to the quilter. Quilted September 2012 then sitting in bedroom waiting for someone (me) to bind it :o/ Ok bound in Feb 2013 tada finished :o) Happy dancing made it for no reason loved the pattern can't remember what it's called but it is finished!!!! Now to do a March UFO
|
DoriDeS - BEAUTIFUL quilt. I love the colors!
|
March UFO completed!

Here's a UFO for March. It's a fall table topper and there are a lot of "firsts" with this one. First time using glue to sandwich and to bind; first time doing an actual binding rather than pulling the back to the front (I really need to practice mitering!); and first time FMQ on DSM without frame, doing something other than meandering.
|
Simple Life: I feel your pain. My "fix" went smoothly and didn't take as long as I had thought it would, hope your's goes the same way.
Dori: Love your color selections, what a beautiful quilt. Congrads on the finish. Michelle: Your table runner is gorgeous. Yet another great finish. |
What a pretty table topper. I like the cornerstones - nice touch. Really pretty fabric.
|
Thanks, DoriDes. Your quilt sounds great. I've never joined in a fabric swap - sounds like it's time I tried one!
|
Gorgeous quilt - really rich fabrics.
|
Wow!! I looked back a few pages and you all are doing such a great job getting those UFOs finished. Can anyone join in at any time? Do you have to get one done every month? I'll have to start checking this post every day. I need the inspiration!!!
|
nanna-up-north: Join us! It's very helpful to see what everyone is accomplishing. I know it's made me get with it and stop wasting so much time!
|
nanna-up-north, yes you just jump on this UFO train and we will toot the whistle in welcome!! We set our goal at one UFO a month, but that is just a guideline. You will set your own goals and we will cheer you on, offer encouragement and support (and advice if asked).
Each of us works at our own pace as life and body allow. So welcomeeeeee to our wonderful group, and we are so happy to have you. Whoooooooooooooooooooohooooooooooooooo............ .. the train whistle blows for youuuuu. We have a sister thread where you can show the projects you are working on and talk about them there. This thread is for showing the finished piece and celebrating your accomplishment! |

Well, finally - I have a couple of finishes. I had good intentions last year and I did start AND finish some projects that I had to do (like baby quilts and Christmas presents) but UFOs, not so much. Life and work got busy and as you can see by the dates on the labels I did 'finish' these last year, but I finally took the time to make the labels and finish the last two feet of binding. Gumballs is 104"x104", and quilted on my Bernina. Log cabin was QAYG, about 78"x91".

Sherry, They are both beautiful. .... and so BIG! WoW!!
|
Sherry beautiful quilts! Love them both but that log cabin has such lovely colors.
|
Wow, I really really need this thread. Please, please let me join, even if this month and some more I will be working on baby items: crib skirt, bumper pads, diaper holder, wall hanging, quilt, recieving blanklets, baby feeding blanket, and such, do see what I mean. I'm going to be a new grandma can you tell, the first one woo hoo! So I will show you what I make then on to finish the UFO's Thanks Robbi
|
Sherry--great quilts! So happy for you to get them both finished!!
|
Sherry! Great finishes. Your quilts are both beautiful.

alright - here is the stupid star. "Kindergarten Star" lol. I should have given it away, I was so unhappy finishing it; it is terrible up close!!
Quilt police do *not* exist, or I would be IN jail! grrr |

I did a basket weave one, that isn't as (technically) bad, and I got it finished too. I did put some fleece in the center of it. I (finally) finished a pieced one in January (before I found the Challenge, yay me), but I didn't put anything between the layers, and I just turned it right side out. I did two that way, and one looks awful! Would it be bad to go back now, and try to quilt it somehow? A pillow? ugh . . .
these are the scraps from the second star I made -- the 'real' one. I gave it to my mil two or three Christmases ago! Definitely, these (were) UFOs! It is washed and dried, but not ironed. Thinking about what to do with it is just depressing! Think I could get ten bucks for it on cl? lol |
Great job ladies on some more finishes this weekend!
Lara--don't be too hard on yourself. Doesn't feel good to at least have these things finished! I like your striped binding on your star. Krista--I think your quilting makes the "twisted log cabin"...might have to hunt for that tutorial...do you still have the link by any chance? |

here is the basket weave one. I used the flange technique to machine bind it. This was my first try at mitering borders. Sick of it, I was.
|
I love the twisted log cabin too! tempted . . . . lol
I appreciate the encouragement, but what in the world do I do with these? I would not want to give them to people I know, I would be embarrassed that they'd think it was the best I could do!! lol my piecework on the green and mauve one is ok, but I finished it terribly! I should seam rip and it and re do it, honestly. =/ |
Krista, they are both lovely. I wouldn't have thought that the first one was log cabin until I looked more closely. Gorgeous colours.
|
Lara122-don't be so hard on yourself. I think we all have projects that we are not ultimately happy with. My thoughts, put them aside and move on! You accomplished a lot for the month. Back away from the seam ripper....
|
Krista: Your quilts are beautiful. I just love the first one, the quilting really emphasises the shapes.
Robbi: Guessed from your list of to dos that you have a baby in your future, I know, I am a real brain trust. Congrads and have fun. Baby things are so sweet. Lara: You need a talking to. Everyone does things that turn out not to be quite what they hoped. I really like your "Kindergarten Star". If your sewing area allows I would put it on the wall, I think its great. Every single thing you do makes you a better quilter. Its the journey not the destination. Great finishes. I am still on schedule with my March UFO. |
you guys are so sweet. and smart. you are right, Emma. I did enjoy piecing that star, and I did learn from doing it! It did make me better! Thank you very much!! love this board!
|
Such great finishes ladies. Kudos to you all. Keep up the great work. You can do it, I know you can.
|
Ohhh! I go outta town & ya'll got sooo busy! Great finishes! I love 'em all. :)

Hello All. I help with coordinating donated quilts and recipients herein the UK for ProjectLinus. Lara - you can be assured that quilts that you are not happy with will be loved in a new home. Older children don't want pretty pretty quilts but love the idea that someone has made it. We find good homes for everything. Mind you, it would look pretty good in my conservatory.......
My current ugly UFO project is showing no sign of improvement but I will finish it! |

This is finally completed. It was a RR on this board in 2010/2011. It is called Cosmic Dreams and now will go in my grandangel's big-boy room. He picked it out of my UFO bin himself...incentive for me to get it done! I love the work the members of this RR put into it...absolutely gorgeous!
Its big, so I couldn't get a really good picture. |
Wow that is lovely. Those fabrics really zing, don't they.
|
missgigglewings - that quilt is beautiful! Great job.
