Lots of lovely finishes. I really like seeing what everyone is working on.
I have two small finishes that count as UFOs as I started them last Christmas and just finished them. |
Nice table runners, Belfrybat!
|
Belfrybat.....Congrats on the finishes.
Every time I see a runner using the Triangle Frenzy pattern I want to try it but I have yet to do so. |
Kristakz, your gift package tree is wonderful. :) Congratulations and Toot, Toot on your UFO finish!

I'm on a Christmas run. Not gifts, but Christmas projects I've had hanging around the house for a while. First up, my Christmas Tree. The block pattern is "All Wrapped Up" - done in 1/2 scale, using charm pack rather than a layer cake. The layout is my own, because I just couldn't bear to do a boring old standard grid with the blocks once i finished them. Started this at a retreat last November, and finally pulled it out and quilted it yesterday.
Next up - 2 more Christmas projects already loaded on the longarms, so I'm committed to finishing them this weekend (at least to the point of ready for binding). |
Rob, congratulations on another UFO finish. Love the colors and fabrics you selected. :) Toot, Toot!

Hey all,
I have another finish for November. I got the top all pieced in May of 2016 during a VQW and then it went into the UFO pile. Well, now it's done YAY! Here's a pic. Rob |
This looks so warm and comfy :) Congratulations and Toot, Toot on your UFO finish!

Two finishes done just in time for the holidays! Congratulations and Toot, Toot Belfrybat.

Reminder to everyone, we're looking for someone to host next year's UFO Challenge. My term ends on New Year's Eve and I hope someone will step up. I've enjoyed these last two years but my diminishing time prevents me from doing as good a job here as I'd like. Perhaps someone else would like to take over? I'll be happy to show anyone "my system" (but it's really just a spreadsheet). Let me know! Thank you!

Krista, your all wrapped up layout is brilliant! Such lovely colors, too.
Congrats on your beanie finishes, Rob, and that quilt is wonderful! |
Beautiful finish, Sophie2!
Belfrybat, those are so pretty. Was the top floral a border print? It looks so nice with the bit of dark around each side of the flowers. |

Last UFO finished. ...at least for 2017. Do have one more but waiting until Jauary to finish that one. Then I will be caught up and start another pile of UFOs. LOL.
Thank you to members who took part in the 2017 UFO Challenge. I am grateful for your encouragement. It helped to have someone comment on a finished project even if they just said 'congrats' or 'nice job'. It kept me on track. Many thanks again to our leader Janice. Janice...you did a wonderful job. My DH always says that he is even busier since he retired. I have already started a new quilt...wonder if that will become a UFO! This one was a snap to finish. Been hidden away for over a year b/c it needed binding which I had left undone. Sorry for the poor quality of the photo. It is hit or miss with my camera...or with the photographer! |
Sew bright, anne2016! Why do we let something small like the binding prevent us from finishing a quilt? We all are guilty of it!
|
Those are neat Belfrybat.
cool quilt Anne2016! |

I finally figured out how to get my pictures off of my camera and resized. Here is a picture of the baby quilt I told you all about last, Jan or Feb?. It has already been counted.

I love the great finishes! I started with 2 this year and now it has become 3 because the Bonnie Hunter one isn’t finished from last year. I should say it hasn’t been touched for most of the year either.

Quilts for Kids done
3 Attachment(s)
I really caught fire this month. I have finished these three Quilt For Kids quilts. They are small - about 45 x 36 or so. I set them aside a few years ago, not sure how long it has been (I don't want to know). But they are done!!

I love those table runners. Great job. Jeanine |
Jewel Tones Dragonfly Quilt
1 Attachment(s)
I finished this one yesterday. It's been many years on the back burner. In fact, it started out as someone else's UFO. I bought many of the 4" strips at a garage sale maybe more than 15 years ago (!) from a gal who said she'd decided to move on to other crafts. You just know she probably had those strips around for at least a few months before that. I liked the fabrics, but didn't have any idea what to make. Eventually I learned about Jelly Roll Race quilts, and this is somewhat inspired by that, though wasn't done entirely that way.
There are 45 different fabrics, some of which were added fairly recently. The dragonflies were done on the embroidery machine from a design I bought on Etsy from seller, sophieslittlebits. It's for a queen bed, but oversized to accommodate the taller mattresses, 100" square, the biggest quilt I have ever completed. It carries a lot of evidence of the battle I did with it (and didn't always win), but at least it's a quilt at long last. It's going home with my daughter after Thanksgiving. |
(Dragon fly quilt) What a beautiful quilt. I love the colors. Good job.
|
Jeanine those kids quilts are wonderful.
RoseP you did a great job of putting those colors together. Did you leave the strips 4" or cut them down to jelly roll size at 2.5? |
Congratulations, Anne2016! Toot Toot on your final UFO finish of this year. By my count, that's 11. TERRIFIC!

Jeanine, Wow, great job! Three in one month. Please pat yourself on your back for us. Toot, Toot and congratulations on your 3 UFO finishes.

Rose, the colors are beautiful and I loved your comment about the "evidence of the battle". Boy, I get that! Happily, your battles may be evident to you but not to me or likely anyone else. Congratulations on a fine UFO finish! Toot, Toot! Love the dragonflies :)

Jeanine- congratulations on your 3colorful finishes! I love bright colors and that last one really calls to me!

Rose- great finish on the dragonfly quilt. That’s a neat pattern, I love the way the dragon flies look like they’re fluttering around the quilt!

About those 3 QFKs quilts: The program sent me a box of remennts, I just paid postage. They were various sizes, mostly skinny Some were 1" x 20" some were 1/2" x 10"+ It was challenging! But I love creating something out of what I have (or in this case, what I was given). The family had to use the back door while I was sorting and planning them using our living room. They were there a long time. I would walk past and move them around a bit until I said "Enough is enough" and began to sew.

Quilt for me

Another finish. It is twin size. I actually finished it on November 1. I started it in 2011. Long time coming. Finishing that one is what lit my fire! I am not starting anything new until I finish all of my UFO, at least that is the plan. On to the next one.

Ann and Rose P -- lovely finishes. I really like the strip dragonfly quilt. The small blocks adds a lot of interest to what would have been an ordinary (but quite nice) quilt.
Jeanine -- my words, but you are on fire! |
Rose P and Jeanine, wonderful finishes.

Janice, I have 2 finishes for this month. They both are spiral table runners that were started last year. Needed a quick b-day present yesterday for a neighbor and forgot to take a picture. The other one is packed and ready to move to the new house. 3 more to go that have been around for a while. I don't know if I have posted this on the thread or not but we have bought a house and are selling the double wide trailer so I am packing and between putting this trailer up for sale and picking out new furniture its been pretty busy. We close on December 6th, they deliver all the new furniture on the 7th, so it will be a little chaotic for the month of December. I'll try to get them done before the years end.
|
jaba---and that's why we have UFO's...so we can make a quick gift in a flash!

Thanks for the likes! I'm really enjoying this board. There are so many nice quilts to look at, and it keeps me mindful of all my UFO's.
Oksewglad, there isn't the slightest chance I would try to make smaller strips out of those 4" ones. :D I'm one lazy quilter and was pleased someone had picked a bunch of fabrics I liked and had already done all that cutting. Over the years it was in the back of my mind and if I happened to see a fabric I thought would go with the others, I'd buy it. I know there were only 2-3 from the original bunch that I didn't use, either because I raided them for something else or I didn't like them in this because they were juvenile prints, little fishies and hot air balloons (nice for something else, someday). Today I finished a couple of pillow shams that match the quilt. Maybe they should count as another finish? They certainly gave me a lot of trouble for such a simple project. The tops of them were done several months ago, testing the plan for the quilt. One of the booboos I made today was new even to me. I got one sham completely done before I realized I'd sewn two soft sides of the velcro into the same sham. I also made some pillowcases from the leftover backing, but I don't have a picture of those (not a UFO, anyway). |
Rose_P....beautiful quilt! I always like shams or pillowcases to go with a quilt but don't often do them because they do take a lot of extra fabric. Nice that you had enough strips to make both shams and pillowcases.
Jeanine....congrats on all the finishes. |
I'd better get in here. I have sympathy for the poster with 60 UFOs. I do not want to count mine. I'll just mention a few: a Giant Dahlia, a jelly roll of batiks that was cut wrong, a green and gold star......a tree quilt with not enough trees. Heaven help me!!! I'll post some pics later.
|
Rose_P, when I get scraps I usually like to use the size they are given in, too. I can tell by the last picture that you kept them the original size...nice job on the shams, but had to chuckle about the velcro...that sounds like something I would do, too.
