Congratulations on the finish, anne2016! That binding is a great touch.

Sync 10-30-2017 11:13 AM

anne2016, congrats on the finish. BTW, love that binding.

cherrybsixty 10-30-2017 12:14 PM

Anne2016, I haven't had much to say in a while, I am loving your circles, and your binding is really fun to look at. Congrats on the finish.
Janice. we will miss you as our fearless conductor around here.
And to every one have a very productive finish.

rryder 10-31-2017 03:53 AM

Congratulations Anne2016! Those quilted circles are the perfect foil for the square pattern!

Rob

QuilterMomma 10-31-2017 08:43 AM

That is so pretty Sophie! So glad you got it finished. Looks worth the effort.

Anne2016, awesome finish as well.

Starting to feel like a slow poke here. I do not have much time to get anything finished because surgery is coming in November and I will be out of commission for a bit. I keep trying to get mine quilted and then a customer quilt comes in or now a formal for daughter at the Navy Ball she is going to. Oh well, they will be there waiting for their turn I guess.

Janice McC 10-31-2017 10:38 AM

Way to go, Anne! Your circles look great :). Toot, toot and congratulations!

OK, 3 days into November so I'll go ahead and post October's info. Thanks go to Belfrybat, Oksewglad, Glojean48, Happylab, Kristakz, Rryder, Sophie2, Anne2016 and Jaba for their combined 18 UFO finishes to bring us to a total of 245 for the year.

Great job, everyone! It's getting close to the holidays and I know we are all busy with life so it's nice that so many of you were able to pull off a finish last month. Can we make 300 for the year? Might be tough. But yet I wonder...

Yes Janice, these are 2.5” blocks. I have been swapping for a few years. Over the next few years I will be making several projects to start using up some of my sqs. This project was started as a project over a year ago. I had originally placed a pumpkin in the center space, but I didn’t like it. So While I was sorting out my sewing room I found the center block fabric. I thought the colors of the block went well with the other blocks. So I finished the wallinghanging.

I plan to have several more projects done this month. I just need to put on binding on 2 quilts. I’l Post pics when they are done. I have 3 small projects almost done as well.

rryder 11-04-2017 05:15 AM

I’ve got several things that should be doable in the next two months. Probably 3 or 4 anyway.....

Jaba, love the DP4! I have one of those among my UFO's. Maybe it will be next. I just finished this one from 5 years ago. It started with a remnant that I used to experiment with 4-Patch Posey. Then it was hard to come up with a use for those 5 blocks, especially since they were not in colors that I'd usually pick and I don't know too many people who would have a place for it in their home. It's 60", a good size for a couch, but who wants purple, orange and yellow for that? Then just as I finished and put this in the washer my husband brought in the mail and I got a card from an old friend who moved away in 2000. She said she'd had both knees replaced recently. I knew immediately who should be getting all these cheerful colors, and it's on its way to her. I quilted this on my Babylock embroidery machine, except for the outer border, which has just simple channel quilting.

Kassaundra 11-04-2017 03:11 PM

For 10 or more years my living room was eggplant purple and sunshine yellow. I changed it a few years ago and now it is orange / brown (sparingly) and blue, and the bedroom is citrus orange / yellow / green w/ tiny touches of blue. Your quilt is lovely so glad it found a forever home.

Thank you, Kassaundra!

I should have added to my post that I hope it's okay to jump on this thread so belatedly! Can it really be November already?! Anyway, I finished a couple of other UFO's this year. One was a baby quilt that I started for my grandson 7 years ago. Luckily my niece recently had a boy. I don't have a picture. The other wasn't my UFO, but one from my SIL's long deceased relative. Nobody even knew who made it. I posted it on the main picture thread awhile back, and had forgotten about this thread. I think taking on that project as well as hitting one of those milestone birthdays acted as a bit of a spur to get myself thinking about the fact that life doesn't go on forever and who knows whether I'll have enough time to actually get all these projects done, especially if I don't get in gear.

Kassaundra 11-04-2017 04:11 PM

I jumped in late last year and didn't "get in trouble" lol lol lol. Here's to believing you have plenty of time to finish all the UFO'S and then some.

Very pretty, Rose_P! And no it's never too late to join us.

WMUTeach 11-04-2017 05:15 PM

Rose_P what a sweet story. More than once in the past few years, I have made quilts with not particular destination for them. Then Poof, right in front of me is the perfect quilt for the circumstance. Your generosity will be rewarded with blessings when you least expect it.

retiredteacher09 11-04-2017 05:56 PM

Rose: Your quilt is very pretty! I took a screenshot of your embroidery because I have only added some small designs and I like your bigger ones.

Beautiful finish, Rose! And welcome to the UFO thread. If you’ve got pics of your other UFO finishes for this year post them or if no pics, then post the the number you’ve completed so far so Janice can addd them to this year’s total.

Nice finish, Rose. Lovely story too. So glad it found a forever home.

oksewglad 11-05-2017 08:03 AM

I'm not getting complete quilts done, but on a a quest to get projects into finished tops..do half UFO's count?:D;)...I'm working on a house quilt started in 2012. I never did get to 365 houses, but have 225+ done and over half through setting them into a large quilt. It takes a long time to sew 3" blocks into a quilt! Stitch by stitch. I also pulled out Tula Pink's sampler quilt a (2013 start) and have now finished the blocks and have a setting planned and the strip sets sewn ready for background piecing. Another top finished is a BH quilt called RicRac9's, a top that uses over 200 9P's cut from 2" squares. I feel I've been pretty productive since September...I don't think they will be compete finishes for 2017, but a good start for 2018.

Another UFO finish!

I started this little quilt early last year, thinking I'd get a jump start on what I donate to Friends of Alaska CASA silent quilt auction in November - finished it just a few days ago, just over a week before the deadline.:-) I hand-embroidered the little bird and machine-quilted the borders. A November finish, Janice.

Thanks to all who mentioned my quilt and made me feel welcome here!

I'm pretty sure I have only finished two of my UFO's this year, but finished a few quilts that were started this year, at least not adding to the UFO pile. I'm hoping to get one more UFO done before the end of the year.

I found I did have a picture of this little I-spy quilt that I started in April of 2012 and finished in April of 2017. I gave it to a grand nephew, who was born last fall. His twin sister got another quilt that had been in the UFO bin for some time, but it was finally finished a couple of years ago and kept in case anyone had a girl. I think this is about 42" square, all sewn on the machine. No excuse for it not getting done sooner, but it was kind of nice having something partly ready when I needed a baby gift.

Connie, Thanks. The larger designs I used were from www.embroideryonline.com . The leaf design in the striped border is the biggest one in this quilt. It was only about 5", but I enlarged it on my machine to 6" in order to make the repeats fit the length of the border. That website has quite a few designs for quilting. I used a 50 wt cotton thread specifically recommended for machine embroidery.

Rose_P 11-05-2017 09:34 PM

Glojean, The little bird quilt is adorable! It's sure to do very well in the auction.

Kassaundra 11-06-2017 04:29 AM

Rose what fun fabric for your I spy, I like that the I spy items are bigger.

Kassaundra 11-06-2017 04:30 AM

Glojean, I love the embroider work you did on your finish.

anne2016 11-06-2017 04:46 AM

Glojean....your wall hanging is adorable! Hope it brings lots of $$$.

Rose..nice finish. Tilted blocks for an I spy quilt...good idea. I am going to add it to my 'baby quilt patterns' folder.
