Wildyard, we'll take it! Toot, Toot. It's a UFO and it counts. Congratulations on a unique finish. I'm sure your granddaughter will be very happy. :)

It's a wall hanging I made for my granddaughter from her collection of karate belts she earned before moving her attention and focus to dancing. petthefabric, congrats on your finishes.

wildyard 07-22-2017 03:23 PM

Janice, I am noticing some posts being made in last years thread. Maybe one of the monitors could close that one to new additions? I am not sure how to stop posts yet still let people read it if they want. Hmmm...

petthefabric 07-22-2017 05:27 PM

I'm one of those 2016 persons. Just can't get into 2017 and here it's the end of July.

Guess it would help me to to close that thread to more posting.

If you know how, and have the power, lol, please do close the posting to 2016.

cherrybsixty 07-23-2017 01:56 AM

Good morning fellow UFO'ers, no wonder it's so quite on the thread, Wildyard is correct. It's more conversation on the 2016 thread than here. Hopefully, everyone will get straighten out. For myself I been a little productive but not in the UFO area. Even found other projects but really don't know how to classified them. When I do determined how to classify the work, I just might share pictures. That shared piece that I hand quilted turned out good. Have a good day and load up the 2017 thread with good works.

happylab 07-23-2017 04:21 PM

If you insist I post on this site, I guess I will, yes I followed suit and made a post on the old thread. LOL :D

I'm 30 minutes to finish a small wall hanging. Only 8 small leaves to machine quilt. I'll go back to it after I get done here and will post pics tomorrow.

I also need to pin my few blocks for my BHMQ. It's taking so long b/c I just love the colors. I'm deciding if I want to add another border and what fabric to add. I'm leaning toward 6.5" of lavender with multicolores to blend with the top, or a solid or reads as solid lavender fabric. Decisions, decisions. I'll go back on that site here on the board and see what other quilters did to get an idea.

anne2016 07-23-2017 07:00 PM

petthefabric...congrats on your finishes.

wildyard...a unique way to display the karate belts. I bet your granddaughter loved it.

QuilterMomma 07-24-2017 02:40 PM

Hello everyone. Yeah, I have been quiet. We left for vacation in June, then got back and have been husseling to get things caught up and then daughter got very sick. She was in hospital for a few days, Ecoli poisoning and kidney infection. Yeah, she was not a happy camper. She is on the mend now thankfully. Then nephew is living with us temporarily and he got a dog. So that is three dogs in my house. He just found out today that he will be paying me from now on for the dog food. It is not a small dog. I am at a point, you either pay rent or get out. Yes, he has been here for three months. My quilting money is obsolete right now. I have not finished any UFOs at all this month. Not good. I did get my row by row quilt turned in. Just enjoying time with hubby and getting my garden in order.

rryder 07-24-2017 06:17 PM

Oh ouch! Quiltermomma-- I hope Daughter is doing better and situation with nephew improves.

Rob

Janice McC 07-25-2017 03:04 PM

Thank you, Wildyard. I'd stopped following the 2016 thread so I was unaware of the posting over there. I just put a link up to this one, hopefully the posters over there will shift here. Any 2017 finishes over there haven't been logged in. Oh dear.

Have a UFO finished for July. Found the free pattern on the 'net. Like most of my quilts, it is a scrappy but can't remember the pattern name. Decided to SID around all the colored units...what a chore to do on my small machine! Took a long time to finish. Sorry about the too-big pics.

So pretty, anne! The SID quilting looks great.

cherrybsixty 07-27-2017 06:49 AM

Anne2016, that is gorgeous, I do love a scrappy and this one is great. I have one as a WIP that one my sewing machine. To me the picture is great I do like mine a little big so that I can see the details. Good work

jaba 07-27-2017 07:21 AM

It's beautiful! I love your mix of colors.

anne2016 07-27-2017 07:53 AM

Thx guys.
The second pic didn't open on my computer but it is there as an attachment...a click on the highlighted text gives me the pic.

QuilterMomma 07-27-2017 09:53 AM

Nice work Anne2016. Nice finish.

Thanks Rob. Good news, daughter is getting better and both the kids have a place now and will be moving out in mid August. Extra special news, my longarm is now in the house no more extreme hot days in the garage. Better light and loving it. My room is a bit crowded, but will live with that because the temperature will be so much nicer to use the machine. Now to get the rest organized. Will do that after I get caught up on customer quilts.

QuilterMomma 07-27-2017 09:55 AM

those art quilts are neat pethefabric. I like your abstract look of the second one. I do have that horse fabric as well, better get mine done. LOL

Sync 07-27-2017 05:07 PM

anne2016, sweet and scrappy ...... congrats on another finish.

Janice McC 07-28-2017 07:40 AM

Congratulations on your UFO finish! I love you color choices. Congratulations and TOOT, TOOT!

Just thought this group would like to see how this piece turned out, "the collaborative quilt," that I did finish earlier in July. Janice, you don't have to count as a UFO finish, I thought I would let everyone see it.

rryder 07-29-2017 04:01 AM

Lots of finishes recently!

Wildyard- cool, unique solution for how to display those karate belts.

petthefabric-neat art quilts! I love the variation in these pieces. PS- I used that same horse fabric one Christmas to make quilted tote bags for some of my barn friends

anne2016- neat pattern, very pretty scrappy!

Cherrybsixty- thanks for letting us see how your collaboration turned out. Good job!

Rob

Thanks Rob, you always have kind words for everyone. My part on this piece was only the hand quilting, trying to do more of that type of work, along with walking foot domestic machine quilting.

Belfrybat 07-29-2017 09:57 AM

I too went onto the old thread before realising my mistake. I wish it could be taken off the sticky list. Is there a reason it is on that list but the current 2017 thread isn't? It does get confusing at times.

Lots of wonderful finishes being done. I don't think I'll have one for this month. I've pieced two tops and quilted three others, but haven't bound any. But when I get the other two quilted, I'll bind away all at one time, so hopefully will have a few to show for next month.

In the meantime, I'm enjoying the quilting eye candy posted here.

Janice McC 07-29-2017 10:24 AM

Good afternoon! I've emailed PatriceJ to see if we can get the correct thread "stuck". Unfortunately, I was unaware of the issue since the 2017 thread is bookmarked in my devices and that's how I always get in. Thank you for alerting me to the problem!

Wow! You have had a busy summer. Glad to hear your daughter is doing better. Sounds scarey! Three bigger dogs inside in the house! With people moving out in August is that the first time in years it will be just you, hubby and the 2 dogs? Nice to have the longarm in the house. I have a hard time with working in the garages and such because the temperature tends to flux too much due to lack of insulation. Good to hear from you.

QM, nice landscape...that is one thing I have never tried, well that and paper pieced beauty.
I swore to myself this year these UFO's were going to be done so they could be donated to a worthy cause. Here's 2 more to add to the 3 I just posted. These were made from the candy swap too. Sewed the binding on or they wouldn't be done. Have to show you a pic our littlest grand daughter. She's been walking for about 2 1/2 weeks and going great guns! Myla will be a year old July31st. Can't wait, she'll be here for 8 days on the 30th of this month

I love all the quilts everyone posted! Jaba your granddaughter is so stinking cute! Her outfit is adorable too.

Finally, A July UFO finish!

1 Attachment(s)
Well, I was beginning to think I wasn't going to get a finish for July, but I finally managed to get this one finished. It has been hanging around for well over a year because I just wasn't happy with it. Finally I decided to just quilt the layers together so I could remove the safety pins. That was last week. Then I decided I still didn't like it. So I decided to crop it. After cutting it into a number of different pieces I didn't like any of them. So I decided to sew them back together, but not like they were when it was whole. Then I decided it needed some thread scribbling-- don't know if that showed up on the photo. Anyway, after letting it sit all day yesterday and today, I have decided it is done. :D It's approximately 31" x 42"

Rob

anne2016 07-29-2017 06:56 PM

Rob...a unique piece of art! Congrats on the finish.
cherrybsixty... so great that you were able to take part in the finishing of that beauty. Thanks for sharing.

cherrybsixty 07-30-2017 02:21 AM

Rob, once again you were able to produce a beautiful work of art, awesome.

Anne2016, thanks for your kind words, this the only thread on the board that I am active with, oh I'm sorry beside the VWQ that occurs once a month. In fact, I completed this piece during July's VWQ. Really can't wait until August's workout. Though a couple my sewing machine are not that anxious.

Have a good day fellow UFO'ers

ube quilting 07-30-2017 04:19 AM

I'm so far behind on my projects it took me seven months to find this thread.:D Will subscribe and get incentive from everyone.

Rob, I took a look at your album and like what you do. Your new black piece would make a lovely one of a kind, original evening clutch. I hope this isn't a distasteful idea but it is a beautiful piece and that is how I see it. Good work.

elly66 07-30-2017 07:21 AM

WOW Rob that is great! Kind of hypnotic too. Think i"ll just sit and stare a little longer.:)

Sync 07-30-2017 02:56 PM

I did not fall off the face of the earth but did finish my UFO from start to finish about 17 months! But I finished the label in mid July so this will add one more to the count for this month. Tomorrow I take it to enter in the County Fair. The original pattern called for it to be a square quilt and I do NOT like square quilts. Beds are not square. So I had to do adapting. I made my first center and did not like it so went with yo-yo's instead and like it much better. I put the first attempt at a center, which was the wrong size anyhow..on the back. Will add the pictures here so you can see front and back. Hope to get back to QB more when winter arrives.

anne2016 07-31-2017 02:33 AM

Hi SandyinZ4. Your quilt is beautiful. Great idea to put first center version on the back. It may have taken 17 months to finish but was worth it. Hope you win a ribbon at the fair.
