Here are two more finishes. The first is made of swap blocks I participated in early last year. The second is my very first string quilt made when I first started quilting 6 years ago. I packed it away and had forgotten it. The first is a gift to someone on another board, the strings is a charity quilt.

I have a small finish for July but I am unable to take a picture right now due to traveling. It is a small quilt made from a "honey bun" I bought years ago. Once we stop long enough for a picture, I will post it.

Sandy I just love your finish. It is so pretty. You did a great job improving on the original top. I love your creativity. Good luck on your showing.:thumbup::thumbup:
I love all of the finishes this month. All so creative and candy for the eyes. I so enjoy this thread. I have a small panel ufo completed. I just had to do the quilting on the machine. As noted nothing fancy. I'm trying to practice my straight quilting. Now to put in in the closet, until next holiday. I also completed a lab dog pillowcase, not shown. I'm not going to post a pic of that. I also sent 3 UFO's to longarmer to get quilted. I figure next month for at least 2 finishes. So for this month's count, 1 UFO finish. I'm also trying to finish my UFO RWB table topper. I just need to layer the pieces and quilt the top. Next month finish. This month I'm still working on my BHMQ top. It should be finished next week. Unless I get side tracked. Which I do frequently. Happysewing/quilting everyone.:sew::sew::sew::wave::wave: |
You ladies and gents have been working on some lovely additions to the list. You can each be very proud of yourself. I am finding my confidence in FMQ which is a wonderful feeling. Hope to have something posted soon.
|
happylab...congrats on the finished panel quilt.
I know all about getting side-tracked. I am forcing myself to finish all the UFOs I have and not add to them, but it's a struggle. I already have plans to start 3 new patterns...a landscape one, either a fractured or a bargello pattern(probably fractured) and a simple pattern using scraps so I can practice FMQ.(that should be fun...or not!!) |

I have a last minute UFO finish for July, just under the wire. I got the binding on today! This is the Baby's First Year Quilt I made for my daughter's friend. The baby is 2 1/2 now, it's been a UFO for a while. LOL
|
wildyard like your First year baby quilt

wildyard....great job on the baby quilt. Congrats on the finish.
|
wildyard, how did you attach the clothes to the block? It is really cute. I have been asked about doing that with some baby clothes, but wasn't sure the process people are using. Thanks.
|
so cool to look at this thread and see 3 finishes posted yesterday:
Sandy- your redesign resulted in a beautiful quilt! Happylab- good use of a panel. I have several that have been hanging around for years because I never can figure out what to do with them. Yours turned out very well and has inspired me to pull mine out for a looksee. Wildyard- that is a seriously creative way to use the baby clothes! way cute baby quilt. Rob |

If you have any questions, feel free to ask! Oh, and I didn't use any underlayment for the items as I didn't want to add any extra bulk. |

Anne2016, can you please explain what you mean by fractured pattern? It sounds like something very interesting!
I will post a link to some photos. https://www.pinterest.com/pin/9570217932833989/ Here's the thread from a few years ago. https://www.quiltingboard.com/main-f...lt-t89962.html My gosh, it was back in 2011. How time flies! |
What's the total for July? Only my horse quilt counts for me...it went to another home for the binding. I'm closing in on finishing the other two. Probably by next week. And have 5 more to quilt.

It's a bit difficult for me to explain. Back a few years ago, someone on this board posted about fractured quilt patterns. I like the shimmering effect they have. Not sure if I can do it but want to move outside my comfort zone and I always wanted to try that type of pattern.

The quilting is finished. It's lying down flat to dry for blocking. Just the binding left.

Hi there, Sandy! Great jobs with your adaptations to the shape. Congratulations on your beautiful UFO finish! Toot, Toot!

I did not fall off the face of the earth but did finish my UFO from start to finish about 17 months! But I finished the label in mid July so this will add one more to the count for this month. Tomorrow I take it to enter in the County Fair. The original pattern called for it to be a square quilt and I do NOT like square quilts. Beds are not square. So I had to do adapting. I made my first center and did not like it so went with yo-yo's instead and like it much better. I put the first attempt at a center, which was the wrong size anyhow..on the back. Will add the pictures here so you can see front and back. Hope to get back to QB more when winter arrives.

Well, I'm glad you were able to manage a finish as we need them for July. I'm impressed with your art quilts as I'm firmly stuck in a "box", usually a 12 1/2 inch square, conventionally pieced box. Congratulations and Toot, Toot Rob for another UFO finish! :)

Well, I was beginning to think I wasn't going to get a finish for July, but I finally managed to get this one finished. It has been hanging around for well over a year because I just wasn't happy with it. Finally I decided to just quilt the layers together so I could remove the safety pins. That was last week. Then I decided I still didn't like it. So I decided to crop it. After cutting it into a number of different pieces I didn't like any of them. So I decided to sew them back together, but not like they were when it was whole. Then I decided it needed some thread scribbling-- don't know if that showed up on the photo. Anyway, after letting it sit all day yesterday and today, I have decided it is done. :D It's approximately 31" x 42"

Congratulations on your Horse Quilt in post 1401. (I didn't realize it was a UFO finish as you stated it was not yet quilted.) Toot, Toot!
As for totals, I usually give it a few days into the next month before I make the tally announcement to give people time to post their last minute finishes. Look for the tally in a day or two. Thanks.

But it's not a UFO any longer! Congratulations and Toot, Toot on a fun and adorable UFO finish. :)

Sophie, we'll take your word for it :) We'd love to see a pic when you have an opportunity to post one. In the meantime, Toot, Toot and Congratulations on your UFO finish. :)

OK, train riders! I believe I'm all caught up. I've been a bit swamped with database problems and had to re-create a section of it but I think I'm all set now. If anyone posted a finish and didn't receive an acknowledgement, please let me know. FYI, it's VERY easy for me to miss UFOs finishes if they are not marked UFOs finishes! PLEASE do me a favor: In caps or bold print, type UFO finish. Thank you so much for your help!
Let's see if there are any more last minute July finishes that just haven't been posted. Tally for July tomorrow or Friday. |
Correction: Not yet bound!

I thought getting it out of my projects by giving it to someone else, counted as a finish?
At our comfort quilt group, I'm considered the designer. So I made the top and quilted it. Then the group welcomes my tops and quilted to complete/finish the quilt. |
Absolutely it is! I just need clarity on what is and isn't a UFO finish. if someone posts a pic and and in some way indicates it's not finished, I don't count it as it appears to be an "in progress" picture. .If it's being given away as is, that's a finish. That's precisely why I ask that each UFO finish be identified as such. Some people do post "in progress" pix. I just ask that everyone be clear so there isn't any confusion. Thanks!

Here is "1Stripes and Squares". Quilted, blocked, threads cut, bound, labeled and rod pocket finished. Also giving a close up to show the quilting. The design within the triangles was inspired by a print in the fabric. Also, the large on point square is quilted with trees inspired by the stripe design surrounding the square. The design around the large square uses both the front and back of the fabric.
Sorry got the wrong photo and now the correct one won't load. I'll try again. |

Thanks for the information, wildyard. I will give it a try when I get home. It sounds like an easy way to do baby clothes.

We finally stopped long enough in our travels so that I was able to take a couple pictures of finished projects. This is my July finish. It was a Moda package of 2 1/2" squares and a roll of Honey Buns. I can use it as a table topper or a wall hanging.

Yesterday we spend 8 hours driving. Gave me plenty of time to stitch the binding down and add the hanging sleeve to these to wall hangings. I have had them in my stash since the mid 80's. Nice to have more items out of my drawer of UFO's.

Sophie I like the fall colors in your table topper and the pattern that you used to make it all come together. Fishes are adorable, makes me even more ready to come to Florida for the winter:)
|
Yay another finish for July! Good work Sophie.
I love those Fishes--good job. Rob |
Sophie...congrats on the finishes.
I like the fishes! The other one would be perfect as an autumn wall hanging or table topper. Beautiful colors. |
Wow, love these finishes. Really cool rryder. Love the quilting on yours petthefabric, Sophie, you did great. Love the little ones. There were more, and I noticed them all. Wow, I am very behind on UFO finishes. Daughter had to have surgery, Sunday she was in extreme pain, took her into ER, kidney stone. It was lodged so they had to do surgery to remove it. Hopefully that is all we have to deal with.
You all are doing great on your finishes, keep it up, you can do it. |
For the count, the fish are actually August finishes. Guess it doesn't really matter which month they get counted in.
|
What fun to see all these finishes! Hopefully I can add something soon....too much summer and visitors...oh well that's good too!
|
Yup! I've got you down for two. :) :)
