QM and Jaba your UFO finishes are great. Love the bibs and the purple quilts.

I may have a UFO finish for June, a tee shirt quilt. At least it will be out of my UFO pile. I had it for over 2 years. I'll be glad when it is done and out of the house. I decided doing tee shirts quilts are not my cup of tea.

I'm also working on 2 small wall hangings UFOs for next month. Just have to find them again.

JuanitaBean 05-08-2017 06:38 PM

Great quilt, bibs, booties.QM

rryder 05-09-2017 05:08 AM

Leta-what Quiltermomma said....life happens, we're all rooting for you no matter how many UFOs you get done.

QM-- cool quilt, the bibs and booties are a great addition! Now I'm going to go back to squirreling around (thanks for that new to me phrase) LOL

It is so good to be able to be back with you ladies, long story short my computer IP would not match with the Board. Now, that I have all that computer tangled mess all straighten out. I can get back on the train again. I felt like someone kicked me 0ff the train or I got Off at the wrong stop. I do have a couple finishes that I would like to share with you ladies. They were finished in March but since I stopped at the wrong stop I couldn't share that I had these little lovelies finished. So, we will just count them as May finishes. Once again I will have my DGD transfer the pix and back on the train I shall be. I do have some finishes that I am working on for June and this summer I will be home here in the 'wheatland' and I can get something done beside just hand sewing. I'm off to the Center for my day with the Quilting Ladies, I'll get caught up with them and then I will try to get a little something done on my UFO's. You ladies have a good sew day.

While I couldn't post on the site, I was able to lurk and I did see some very lovely finishes, congratulations to all that was able to empty up their UFO piles. Great job ladies, a lot went on while I was at the wrong stop.

QuilterMomma 05-09-2017 12:26 PM

Glad you are safe though Cherrybsixty. Sometimes can be a little spooky standing and waiting for the correct train to pull up again.

QuilterMomma 05-09-2017 12:28 PM

You are so welcome Rob. I picked it up from the movie "UP". Such a cute movie. Now for me to get fiesty like the old guy against the car dealership that will not fix my daughter's car correctly. Poor thing, has owned it for six months and has had issues since the beginning. Been in there four times and only replaced parts and sent her on her way with the same issue still there. Not once have they even contacted the warranty company saying there is a problem. Well, I got ahold of the Attorney General as well on this matter. They have messed with the wrong daughter, momma claws have come out.

I'm so happy to see these two Boom UFOs done! They're both beautiful, Jaba. Congratulations and toot, toot!

Darling finishes! Is the quilt the only UFO? I'm reading it that way. Toot, toot and congratulations. :)

Here is the baby quilt finished with the other baby items I made for the couple. Glad to see this UFO done. Now you can see how cute it was. I am going to make more bibs to have as easy baby gifts. Using up the scrap minkie fabric from the backings of quilts I have made.

Yeah QuilterMomma, it was getting a little lonely out there, tried to stay motivated but, I couldn't overcome not matching up to the write train. I hope you get that mechanic on the right track. Happy Mother's Day to everyone.

I have a finish for May. I started these placemats for summer last year and ran out of fabric for the back of two. So they got put aside and never finished. I dug through my stash last month, found some fabrics that would work, and stitched them up. Then I sewed on the binding last week.

I should have another finish for this month. Just need a little time to finish stitching the binding on that one.

anne2016 05-09-2017 05:48 PM

Great placemats. Congrats on the finish.

Kassaundra 05-09-2017 08:06 PM

Grinch those placemats look bright and happy

the bibs were fun to do. Love my embroidery machine.

Thank you, QM! I needed that affirmation!

My LA guild meets this weekend, and I will be taking a UFO Lone Star (in Carolina Panthers colors - black, silver, teal and white) for what we call "throw down". That is, it gets spread out for everyone to see and give ideas on the quilting patterns.
I'm going to try to attach a pic of the design that I'm thinking about using for the big, open corners of the Lone Star. I used Lisa Calle's method of "Divide and Design" to come up with this design. Is this too fussy? It will be on black fabric, and I'm thinking of using black silk thread.

Leta, I think that looks great, not too fussy in my book. If you have enough fabric you could do a quilted sample- 1 corner would be enough, then lay it over the quilt to see how it looks to you.

QuilterMomma, thanks for posting photos of the baby gifts. They must have been thrilled with them!

Those are so pretty, Grinch!

cherrybsixty 05-10-2017 07:01 AM

Good morning fellow quilters, and a 'happy mother's day,' this weekend.

Grinch (#1052), love those very summery placemats, maybe it was meant to wait for the right follow up.

Leta (#1056), love that plan for that quilting design, if we're taking a vote mine is for that one.

Happy sew day guys and dolls

Janice McC 05-10-2017 07:40 AM

Progress report for me on my UFO. I've finally gotten my extra blocks done and QAYG quilting has begun. (Pic a few pages back.). I'm pretty slow compared to some but I hope to have them quilted in the next week. Fingers crossed.

Janice McC 05-10-2017 07:43 AM

Excellent job on your placemats. Stash busting AND a UFO finish in one. Congratulations and Toot, Toot!

Ditto what QM said. Life has a way of interfering with quilting. You've not let us down. We're just glad you are back!

Kassaundra 05-10-2017 08:06 AM

That quilt design layout looks pretty awesome to me, well beyond my quilting ability. (I am much more into the piecing then the actual quilting).

My Provence de' Noir is making progress. All 8 (4 front and back sets) of borders are made 2 (sets) are attatched and quilted. So just 2 sets of borders and the binding to go.

QuilterMomma 05-10-2017 09:16 AM

I think that design is going to be fabulous Leta, go for it! I truly want to see this one finished. If you get real brave, use a little metallic for the circles and on the star points. Just a thought. That is if you are ready for that. It looks to me like you are. It would give some pop and in the quilt colors.

Yes, Janice, only one UFO, the baby quilt. I had posted the blocks and told you it was done. Daughter got a pic with the expecting couple so thought I would share the visual of the finished product.

My "squirrel" syndrome is kicking in. The garden is calling and we have some beautiful sunshine going on right now that I want to take advantage of it. Will get the tilling done tonight and plant the spinach, collards, arugula, and lettuce. This way when the rains come this weekend, will be all done and the weeds won't be staring at me and hubby will calm himself. He is the weed killer.

Love those placemats!!! They are so cheerful.

Way to go Janice, you can do it! Rah Rah Rah

Jaba, love how those boom swap quilts turned out. I see my block in there. I am with thinking our blocks should count as finished ufos if we see them in someone else's quilt. Yah, we can say we have another finish. HA HA

Grinch 05-10-2017 01:35 PM

I am slow as well, Janice. But I enjoy it when I am slow and take my time, so that is what I do. It is low stress when I take my time. I get stressed when I try to rush because I mess up and get frustrated.

I also am a piecier, that likes to take my time in putting projects together, it's more calming when I do that. So enjoy the process. Happy Sewing day

anne2016 05-11-2017 08:59 AM

I also enjoy the piecing and procranstinate when it comes to sandwiching and quilting.
The quilt I am doing this month.....the quilting is finished and now I need to do the binding...hope to have it finished and donated by next Friday.

Thanks everyone!
Rob, I thinks that's a great idea for me to try the design on scrap then set it over the real quilt!
QuilterMomma, I like the idea of metallic thread as well... I'm pretty sure I have some, so now Rob's idea is working double-duty - testing the design, and testing my ability with metallics as well.
Kassaundra, I HIGHLY recommend Lisa Calle's "Divide and Design", or "Mastering the Mini - Wholecloth That Is" DVD's. I'm not affiliated with her in any way, just a super-happy customer. Her techniques make it SO easy to come up with design ideas, and then taking those ideas back to the longarm (or even your DSM). She's a great teacher!

QM, our garden is going gangbusters too - I already have bunches of little tomatoes!!

Well, gotta go for now - I have an interview in just a little while. Keep your fingers crossed for me!!

oksewglad 05-11-2017 10:48 AM

Very nice, cherry....my favorite is the cross stitch...sew cute.

These weren't a big project, but they are finished. I consider anything I had before the beginning of 2017 a UFO. Just prior to retiring, three years ago, I purchased a lot of kits as well as yardage. Now I am trying to work my way thru all the kits and fabric. It will be some time before I get thru them all! Will just keep plugging along. This thread has really helped me get some done.

Thank you Oksewglad and Sync for the lovely compliment on my finishes, it keep me encouraged.

Sophie2. those clutches are really cute.

anne2016 05-12-2017 02:43 AM

cherry...great finishes. I really like the one with the cross stitching....so pretty!

Sophie....nice bags.
I started a bag a few years ago. I had the pieces cut and then got bogged down because I didn't understand the pattern directions. I gave the pieces and pattern to a local guild. I don't know if it ever got finished.

That design is gorgeous! If you have the patience to do it, and do the rest of the star in equally dense quilting, I think it will look absolutely fabulous! I can't wait to see the end result. My only concern is that black on black won't be visible, so much of your work will be lost to the casual viewer. I might be tempted to use a charcoal grey, or something just off-black so the stitching is visible. Maybe quilt a sample, as someone suggested.

elly66 05-12-2017 04:55 AM

Now how had I missed several pages when I looked through a few days ago?! Sure glad I found them this morning. Just gorgeous completed projects everyone.

Can't believe I have completed no UFOs this year. Did better last year when I was in a walking boot on one leg and a knee brace on the other! I sure hope as soon as I get what seems like my never ending bargello projects done I can whip up two that are in the needing sandwiching phase.

joe'smom 05-12-2017 06:19 AM

Those are lovely finishes, cherry! The animals are darling (sometimes the animals on baby quilts strike me as a tad bit scary, LOL).

Pretty bags, Sophie!

This is such a wonderful, busy thread! 108 pages! WOW!

Here's my latest UFO finish.

I couldn't resist this "Wander" fabric at JoAnns, so I made it into a quilt for our travel trailer. Finished it just in time for our upcoming glamping trip.

The pattern is Twisted Happy Blocks Quilt, a free pattern from MaryQuilts.com. (Check out her website for some great free quilt patterns.) I adjusted the block size to accommodate my fussy-cut squares. DH had a 9" plexiglass square cut for me at a local shop. They only charged him $1, and it was perfect for me to use to square up the blocks.

The quilting is SID and ruler work. I used the Westalee Sew Steady 5.5" Spinning Wheel 36 template to stitch the centers of the blocks.

I also made a couple of pillow covers. I'm going to give one of them to a neighbor.

OK, so here is my one and only finish so far this year :(
It is embroidered animals, with some 3D effects for the lion's mane, the giraffe's mane and the other animals' whiskers.
I have to finish the binding, which I'll do tonight, so I consider this one FINISHED!!

anne2016 05-12-2017 09:31 AM
