Beautiful quilt QM. Those feathers are neat-- I like the different variations you used through the quilt.

Another winner QMomma...your practice stitching is soooooo much better than mine.
Tonight I got the scrap quilt quilted. I FMQ zigs and zags across the top. I have a long way to go in this quilting journey. I love Elmer's glue basting. I used a lightweight fleece on the back as well as an 80/20 batting...no tucks at all. Making binding now and thinking I'm ready to quilt another...I have 5 tops paired with batting and backing ready to glue baste. |
Wowzer! two more really unique and beautiful quilts!
I am blown away and green with envy (in a good way!) I am not sure i'll get anything all the way finished, myself, before the last day of this month. two at the quilter's; one that needs a border fixed before i can sandwich it for quilting; one that's sandwiched and pinned; and one that needs binding. i am really enjoying this challenge. it got me off my butt and busy with all those UFOs i had piled up. this has been a great idea since it started. |
Very cool finish, Kassaundra!
Beautiful, QuilterMomma! |

I have a Finish! This UFO has been sitting for a little over a year. It is now done and hanging in the local art gallery. I used Lutradur for the top, did some decorative stitches on it, then collaged leftover fabric to the backside, sandwiched it with a layer of cotton batting scraps and used a piece of black craft felt from stash as the backing. Quilted it, then took outside and used a heat gun to "lace" the Lutradur... first time for me doing that on an actual piece and got a little heavy handed in some places, but that's ok. Then did a quilted grid to make sure it all held together. You can zoom in to see the Lutradur lacing. It's 36" x 24" I think....

I'll need to check this fabric and the process out...interesting...and yeah a finish!
|
Rryder, cool art work I had to look up lutradur
|
Thanks for the word of the day rryder. That's my something new for today. Great finish.
|
Rryder, that is a cool finish. You make wonderful art quilts.

Love the name! The front is so bold! Congratulations on a wonderful finish. Toot, Toot!

I'm so excited The Mullet is finally finished. It is 1.5 years late (was suppose to be a wedding gift). It is made from denim weight fabric on the front and fleece on the back. The couple that it is made for he is a huge Boston Celtic fan (even though he is a life long Okie). She is an absolute minimalist, her nick name is "Captain OCD" It is hard to see in the pics but there are two cream fabrics and two blues, they are solid, tot, and textured. I kept the front very minimalist w/ large graphic patterns. It is assembled and quilted QAYG. I call it "The Mullet" b/c it is business up front and party in the back.

QM, another UFO finish and it's as though each is prettier than the last. The quilting is beautiful. Congratulations and Toot, Toot!

Here is a finish for me finally. One of the two drunkard paths is done. Was practicing some more feathers that I learned from Bethanne Nemesh at a class when she was here in Spokane. Onto the next one. Yippeee.

Rryder :) :) :) (I'm not at all familiar with Lutradur so I guess there's some googling to be done.) Congratulations and Toot, Toot for a lovely and unique UFO finish.

Finally, the pix of the finish for March. Thank heaven for the granddaughter.
|
Yahoo, another fine finish, cherry
|
Great job on your bright and happy quilt Cherry.
|
Ok Cherry, I needed those fresh flowers to cheer me up on this drizzly day. Spring rains bring flowers in May right? Oh, it is only March, but that is ok, I will still keep those pretties in my mind.
|
Thank you everyone for your cheers on my little quilt, the top has been finished for about two years now and I was going to machine quilt it with a walking foot on my 401 and that would not work, so I hand quilted in a month and bind it in a week and it's my March finish. As I stated before I'm working on hand quilting a hand embroidery series for a wall hanging. This is my first pix post in this forum with the aide of my (adult) granddaughter, who is a techno-nerd.
Congratulation to Kassaundra, Quilter Momma, and Rryder (Rob) on your beautiful finishes. May March be a great finishing month. Happy Sewing gang |
Hey everyone, thanks for the kind words on my UFO finish for this month.
Cherrybsixty--I love the cheerful flowers--congratulations on a beautiful finish. |
Kassundra that's a lovely quilt. Bacl for him and front (minimalist) for her!
QM I love your quilting and those colors are beautiful. Rob, your artistry is fantastic. cherrybsixty makes me excited for spring! Lovely flowers. |

Here are 2 finishes for the month..first is the UFO that I deconstructed and used the sky piece in the mini for the February mini swap. The second is the Lego quilt...first a closeup of my Fmq zigzags...nothing fancy that's for sure. I didn't cut fabric for the Lego quilt...just used from the 1 1/2" strip bin. I estimate 90% of the fabric is gifted fabric. I used a light weight sweatshirt fleece left over from a project for DGD over 10 years ago. Yep that's a Lego on the floor from DGS..binding is from stash as well.

Great way to deal with a UFO--- in my book deconstructing a UFO and using it to make a finished piece counts as a UFO finish since it is no longer on your UFO pile.
good job on using scraps and stash for the legs quilt. Doesn't it feel good to watch those piles get smaller?:) |
QuilterMomma, Just love your quilt (637).
Oksewglad (661), to borrow a term, "WOWZER" That should go on the scrappy thread also, I just love scrappy quilts. Thanks for sharing your wonderful craftsmanship guys. Karen |
rryder (645) That is lovely. Your artistry is just WOW. Thanks for sharing.

Wow, there are some amazing quilts! I might be late for work this morning as I have spent too much time scrolling through the photos! I am so impressed with all of them!
I will have a UFO to add to the list this month. It has to be done this month because I put March 2017 on the quilt label. That is my motivation. |
Grinch, whatever works! You can do it :)

Rob, your work is always fascinating. Congratulations on a great finish!
Cherry, that's such a pretty charity quilt; your hand quilting is lovely! Okesewglad, your little landscape is charming, and what a fun Lego quilt! |
Oksewglad that is a wonderful scrap quilt! The mini is cute as well. Wonderful finishes
|
Thanks for the pictures of the lovely quilts being finished here. I have a small contribution.
I just finished this 18" throw pillow cover for DD#1 for her birthday. I've worked on and off on the cross stitch since May of 2015. The chart is from the Spring 2014 issue of Stoney Creek Magazine. I changed the birds that were in the circle to an eagle motif, since this is going to Alaska. I used my new Westalee ruler templates to quilt it. I even designed my own border motif with one of the templates. I didn't have an 18" pillow to insert for the pictures, so I just stuffed it with one of my bed pillows. http://i64.tinypic.com/29dajv4.jpg |
Oh gosh DJ, that is beautiful!!!.
|
WOW DJ that is wonderful!
|
Thanks you Lisa for your encouraging words.
DJ that's an awesome pillow finish Everyone have a good sewing day, I'm off to the doctor man for annual check. Lots of pix when I return. |
Very pretty, DJ and the eagle looks like it should be there...
|
Nice pillow! I have some pillow forms that are asking for a cover.
|
That's a pretty pillow DJ. Good job customizing and quilting it.
Rob |
A terrific mini landscape, a fun lego quilt, and a beautiful pillow too! Great finishes ladies!
|
Just a little funny that I'd share with you this evening. So after the doctor's appointment I go to the Center to check on the sewing group that I socializes with once a week. My cousin is my long arm artist and she spear-head two or three of us to do the charity quilt for the local children hospital and a batter shelter. Today, she hands me a bag that has two the quilts that she just can't get finish. Bless her heart, that another story, one of the quilt top is one that I put together in '15. How about that a UFO came back home to be finish by it's original creator. How about that one???
