Those bordered jelly roll quilts look great.

Janice McC 03-15-2017 05:11 PM

My apologies...I've been distracted by some family stuff and I am finishing up a swap. I'll be checking back in by the weekend. :)

Janice McC 03-16-2017 11:04 AM

Motorcyclemad, FOUR quilts? My gosh! Are they completed? I'm guessing yes bc you posted them but they don't yet look quilted in the pix. Just say the word and I'll add them to the tally. Thank you!

Well, we're quiet this month. Who is working on a UFO? I have a couple on hold since my quilting mojo isn't strong right now. Too much happening outside quilting life. I even pulled out a mini, just a bunch of hsts and a border yet I can't make myself finish it. Help!

What's your story?

The first pic is one of the strip quilts sans borders, then the 3 with borders. The final pictures are of the jelly roll quilt with pieced borders.

Hang in their Janice, it will come back. It always does. When life gets busy, it messes with the creative.

Here is a finish for March, my hexi table runner that was started two to three years ago. I love the fabric. Not perfect, but still enjoyable this time of year waiting for winter to get over.

oksewglad 03-16-2017 04:13 PM

I should dig out some almost finished smaller ones and get them bound while watching NCCA March Madness!

rryder 03-17-2017 09:38 AM

I've got one UFO sandwiched and ready to quilt, then I've got to heat it until the top layer laces (it's an art quilt and the top layer is Lutradur which melts into a lacey effect when heated). I'm hoping it will lace around all the decorative stitches and the quilting stitches. If it does, then I'll have a finish this weekend. If it doesn't then I'll have to do something else to it.

Rob

MadQuilter 03-17-2017 09:42 AM

Nice topper QM.

Rob, that sounds intriguing.

Sync 03-17-2017 12:03 PM

Great idea oksewglad. I have one of my minis in my lap hoop ready for quilting during the games. Watched two of my teams sail through the first round yesterday and waiting for two more teams to play today!

These have been languishing in pieces for almost 2 years. They are for emergency gifts and done for now. The pieced border jelly roll lacks only binding and will be done this week, so definitely increase our numbers!

retiredteacher09 03-19-2017 05:48 PM

I started the year out with 2 UFO's and still have them. Lol! I did work on one of them but just can't get myself to sandwich and finish it. Maybe I will get it done over spring break in April.

I have been sewing but I need to get busy with the last step of Bonnie Hunter's mystery and get that top finished because I don't want it to go into the UFO pile.

oksewglad 03-19-2017 06:43 PM

Over on the moratorium thread I posted a picture of a small scrap quilt....the blocks were finished last fall..it'll be a good car quilt as it's 50x60...when I get it quilted I hope to post by next week...

Connie, I can understand you completely, the two quilts that I really want to finish I have not touch at all. One of the two I want to have professionally machine embroidered and the other I just can't decide on a backing. This is only March maybe later in the year. On with the one that I am working with, plan on finishing it by May.

Thank you Rob for your congratulations on my March finish and soon we will get a post.

Kassaundra 03-20-2017 07:04 AM

That melting lacing thing sound interesting I look forward to seeing it. Great finishes you guys. I have in my head to finally finish The Mullet today, everything that could go wrong has, the machine messed up, got it fixed, the batting wasn't right, fixed it, the thread in the machine was all wrong, but didn't notice until I had everything exactly where I wanted it, then had to disturb everything to wind bobbin and put correct thread, get everything settled again. Finally got back to sewing on it almost to the end of the first 70 inch strip and it is 1.5 inches to short!!!!!!! I measured and measured it. This may drive me to drink in the morning!!!!

Well this is new for me. I have been a member since I think 2010 but have never posted a picture.

Just finished one of my 2917 UFO's and my SIL's father seems to like it. Thanks for your patience.
Karen

QuilterMomma 03-20-2017 07:37 AM

Great job Bug Lady. Love the brickwork. You did great on your colors.

Kassaundra 03-20-2017 07:46 AM

Great finish Buglady. Just 2916 to go! lol

Bug Lady 03-20-2017 07:51 AM

Kassaundra, Unfortunately you are correct. Feels like a million more to go. Thanks.

DJ 03-20-2017 08:08 AM

I’m late! It took you guys a while to get over here to the Pacific Northwest LOL

As I strolled through the coach looking for an empty seat, I saw some terrific finishes! You quilters rock as you roll!

I'm taking a ruler work class this coming weekend and hope it will inspire me to finish more of these projects.

Apparently the UFOs are not limited to quilts? I did see a poncho … In that spirit, I’ll go ahead here and list my UFOs from all previous years (I do keep a list)…and I have noted which ones I have completed this year...

*UFOs from 2009 and prior:
~~2 Watercolor quilts [from class (DD#1 made one of them) . . . I want to add appliqué flowers and make them into wall hangings for the guest bedroom]
~~Knit purse][just needs lining and maybe a handle and/or closure]
~~David's crochet afghan [Started by DM over 40 years ago]

*UFOs from 2010:
~~Hide & Seek Quilt

*UFOs from 2011:
~~Monthly “chats” CCS motifs ][This may soon become a TOAD (Trashed Object Abandoned in Disgust … although not really in disgust. It’s just that it was originally planned as a gift for DD#2, but she has since let me know that CCS doesn’t fit her decorating style. So unless I come up with some great use for these, I don’t really see a need to work to complete them.]

*UFOs from 2012:
~~Moda Terrain quilt & shams

*UFOs from 2013:
~~Teal pinwheel quilt

*UFOs from 2014:
~~Nature’s Harmony CCS for Pillow cover for DD#1

*UFOs from 2016:
~~Growth chart for Julia DONE!
~~Go West quilt for DD#2 DONE!
~~Project Linus quilt
~~Convergence quilt (wall hanging for guest room)
~~Wander quilt (for travel trailer)
~~Grapes table runner

DJ, Oh my! Although after thinking about your list, I still think I have more UFO's than you--it's depressing, but...
Karen

Sync 03-20-2017 12:09 PM

Congrats on the finish, Bug Lady.

MadQuilter 03-20-2017 12:57 PM

Bug Lady, that's a great quilt. Congrats for the finish.

DJ - looks like you'll be busy for a while and I'll be right beside you. I actually refuse to list all of mine.

oksewglad 03-20-2017 02:32 PM

Bug lady, now that you've got the picture posting down, we expect to see more pictures, cuz we like pictures...very nice brick quilt BTW:thumbup:...

DJ...welcome aboard...as mentioned above...we like pictures. I'm with Martina on listing UFO'S....they would scare me out of the sewing room!

I don't really find it depressing. Since I've started keeping a list, you can see that I only have 1 UFO each from 2012, '13 and '14, and none left form '15. And the one from 2014 is now a WIP and could be finished by the end of next week. It's intended to be a birthday gift for DD's April 6th birthday. That's actually quite good for me!

rryder 03-21-2017 03:21 AM

Nice finish BugLady!

DJ- welcome!

I'm so excited The Mullet is finally finished. It is 1.5 years late (was suppose to be a wedding gift). It is made from denim weight fabric on the front and fleece on the back. The couple that it is made for he is a huge Boston Celtic fan (even though he is a life long Okie). She is an absolute minimalist, her nick name is "Captain OCD" It is hard to see in the pics but there are two cream fabrics and two blues, they are solid, tot, and textured. I kept the front very minimalist w/ large graphic patterns. It is assembled and quilted QAYG. I call it "The Mullet" b/c it is business up front and party in the back.
