Have a little coffee today. Made this mug rug since I finished some UFOs, a cute project to brighten up my office desk at work. (Applique Corner) is the website in case you want to have some fun. SQUIRREL!!!!

QuilterMomma (#113), once again you have displayed beautiful work, such fun art.

Happy sewing day all

anne2016 05-19-2017 12:02 PM

QMomma, that is a delightful mug rug. So fun!

MadQuilter 05-19-2017 12:15 PM

Cute mug rug.

Sync 05-19-2017 01:49 PM

QuilterMomma, your mug rug is sew cute.

countrymaid 05-19-2017 05:00 PM

Nothing for me yet but I took a small top to the LA for quilting last Saturday. Had my folks estate auction on Wednesday so that is behind me. I'm getting my grandmother's maple dresser to store my fabric in. Can't wait to sort through and hopefully find a stack 'n whack top from 15 years ago that needs quilting. Finally ready to move forward again. You all inspire me.

cute mug rug

rryder 05-20-2017 04:23 AM

Cute mug rug. Of course I had just convinced myself an embroidery machine isn't one thing I would use and then you posted this.... LOL

Rob

MadQuilter 05-20-2017 09:24 AM

Rob, I was all gung-ho on getting an embroidery machine once and then I had to admit that I am not an embroidery kind of a gal. It is a lot of expense if you don't use it regularly. So for me it was a no.

anne2016 05-20-2017 10:08 AM

I have looked at a few em. machines but can't decide if I can justify the expense. I just don't know if I would use it much.

cherrybsixty 05-21-2017 05:17 AM

I was just reading all the discussion on QuilterMomma's little mug rug and enjoying the looks of it, a sweet job as always QM. I clean my apartment from all my quilting mess before I went to Georgia for two weeks. Could not get any thing done while I was there. My DGD add the QB site to my phone but, I couldn't post on the site. That was when my password would not connect. All I could do was lurk. Now, my plan visitors have made their house visit. My DGD has made her apartment inspection so now I can get back to the business at hand. "Working on some UFO," I have three of them sandwiched and two of them basted. Those two, I plan to machine quilt with the walking-foot on the 401A. The third one I plan on basting and hand quilting it. But, it's not a UFO, not mine to say. But, we have discussed this 'Scenario' before. The "Viral Quilting Weekend," is coming up the weekend of May 27-29 and I plan on being a part of that. So, I have all my UFO's and new patterns in place. I plan to alternate my projects so I don't get bored with one or the other project. Hopefully, it will make a path for a June finish and two new UFO's in the making. So everyone enjoy your Sunday service (if that is a part of you day). It makes my week go just a little smoother. And Happy Sewing

rryder 05-21-2017 05:46 AM

Martina and Ann2016- exactly my thinking on the embroidery machine, but I sure do get tempted every time I see a cute project like QM's mug rug.

Cherrybsixty- I spent yesterday pulling UFOs and getting them ready for the VQW too-- that's my excuse for the way my sewing space looks today and I'm sticking to it LOL.

QM- yesterday the "squirrel" part of my brain was definitely in overdrive-- between gardening and sorting through UFOs to work on for the VQW (which involved also discovering some orphan blocks and playing around with them on the design wall, and trying to figure out if I can use one of my UFOs to do a "convergence" quilt which would allow me to start something new and complete a UFO at the same time....). I also worked on my temperature quilt and played around in my stash thinking about all those projects that have been running through my head--- well, you get the picture--which is the real reason for why my sewing space looks like several drive by fabric drop offs and a fabric bomb happened in there---- I swear there was absolutely no sugar involved and only a little caffeine.

There are a few embroidery machines out there that dont cost an arm and leg. Mine is a used one thru newspaper. Also shops have used ones that are nice. It is a matter of searching and asking. I have not used mine to its full potential yet. When i make tge next wearable art piece, it will be used for sure, not to mention daughter's wedding dress. I have two fish quilts to be done that are ufos. Working on the other projects at same time.
One year i made potholders for all my coworkers for Christmas.

DJ 05-22-2017 07:43 PM

Really cute mug rug!

I invested a small amount in a Brother PE embroidery machine. Didn't know how much I'd use it, but I have amazed myself at all the things I've made with it ... toys for my grandchildren, designs on shirts, little zip pouches, organza flowers, Christmas ornaments, eye glass cases .... the list goes on!

anne2016 05-23-2017 04:05 AM

Had some news last night and now have to travel to be with a relative. I will take my quilt that I am hand quilting. Hope to be able to check in here every so often.

cherrybsixty 05-23-2017 01:09 PM

Praying for you Anne2016, and your family. Praying for traveling grace for you and peace of mind to do the handwork while you are waiting for a better outcome for your family.

Happy Sewing

QuilterMomma 05-24-2017 12:18 PM

Now if i could figure out to post photos with phone i could show you another finish. My Boom 17 is complete with binding.

Janice McC 05-24-2017 01:44 PM

Progress report: This hasn't been as productive a couple of weeks as I'd hoped BUT I've got 10 of 12 blue floral QAYG blocks quilted. I'm chomping at the bit to put a few sashings on just to give it a try. I think I've got my layout decided upon so I might just do it. We'll see. It will not be finished in May but June is likely. That's still excellent considering my record. :)

Re: an embroidery machine...I've thought about it too but I've barely got enough time to work on my regular machine so maybe it'll be something for the future.

Anne2016, I hope all will be well.

QM, you know I'm very excited to see your Boom 17 quilt. :) I will be patient!

Now hubby is battling kidney stones which doesn't make for happy quilting vibes. I hope that June will be more productive for me.

Here is the one Boom 17 swap that I did. I even used scrappy binding. I love the Irish Chain setting blocks, made them so much more cohesive. Yeah, another UFO done for me. Now onto the next one that is on the design wall as we type. It is another scrappy that I started last April, 2016.

Sync 05-24-2017 05:11 PM

anne2016, I will keep you and your family in my thoughts.

Sync 05-24-2017 05:12 PM

QuilterMomma, love your Boom 17 swap quilt. Great finish.

WMUTeach 05-24-2017 05:19 PM

I have not been on here in several months, but I did finish two UFOs. Just need to take photos. I have a pile of quilts to be finished before I retire in December. I want to gift my nearest and dearest colleagues with something quilty. They have been so patient with me and my obsession. So, the result is I have not delved into my UFO basket. Did pull one out to use as a colleague gift. Good for me! Just wanted 'yall to know that I have not disappeared only had my nose to the sewing machine but not on our particular thread (Tee-Hee, Thread!) UFO's.

zozee 05-24-2017 05:45 PM

WMUTeach, so glad you're back !

QuilterMomma, #1140, that's another one of your gorgeous productions that Boom 17 is out of this world.

WMUTeach, #1143, congratulations on your up coming retirement

For myself, I am setting the format for my 'viral quilting weekend,' happy sewing everyone.

oksewglad 05-25-2017 02:08 PM

Cute rug....chains rely pull the Boom quilt together...nice job.

Just got back from loving our new twin grandsons...a sink full of dishes, an overgrown lawn, and garden work to do equals no sewing!

Also like the purses. Love the use of bl/lgt/gray fabrics. Is there a pattern for the bag?

cherrybsixty 05-26-2017 04:27 AM

Good morning, while I am on the board just thought that I would stop at this point and wish everyone a good sewing holiday, rained overnight in Kansas and hope that it didn't dampen too many plans. I hopefully plan to get started on the two UFO's that I want to DSM quilt. It's a good day for it. The sun is coming up and that puts a lot light in this small apartment. (I'm a empty-nester), My DGD and her family are on vacation so I don't have to stop and go visit them. Maybe I can pry myself from the key board and get some sewing completed.

Happy Sewing everyone

Anoka Quilter 05-26-2017 01:22 PM

I would love to spend some time sewing; however all the yard work is calling my name, so unless it rains I will be outdoors trying to get caught up on everything from sun up to sun down.

Happy Memorial Day everyone.

Kassaundra #1151, that is just simply gorgeous.

I did get one of the charity quilt DSM quilted. I can tell I am out of practice, maybe tomorrow it will get better with the second one.

Happy sewing everyone

happylab 05-26-2017 03:40 PM

Love all of the posted tops/quilts, such inspiration. Thank-you everyone. I just love all the pics.

Kassaundra, just love you BH MQ. I have 6 big blocks completed and 10 small saching portions sewn.

Life got in the way for me to complete this quilt top. I had to complete 2 major training projects at work. Unexpected medical issues flaired up preventing me from doing much anywhere. I figure in another week or 2, I will be able to get back to some sewing, Yea. Right now I'm a little too medicated to do much.

I did make some progress on a UFO. A tee shirt top is made and waiting for my long armer to finish the top. I was going to give her another top to finish for me at the same time. Unfortunately, she will be out of town for another 6 weeks. so that slowed down my progress on my Tops. I guess I will work on another project or 2-3.

Thank-you for the reminder of the VQA this weekend.

Janice McC 05-26-2017 05:04 PM

Kassaundra, Your En Provence de Noir is beautiful and unique! I haven't seen one like it. Wonderful UFO finish so congratulations and a big Toot, Toot for you. :).

That's wonderful, Kassaundra! The blues really glow. It looks very mysterious.

WOW, what an amazing quilt. Quite stunning.

zozee 05-26-2017 08:30 PM

Kassaundra, that's stunning! Really love the deep jewel tones and the "mood" of the quilt.

rryder 05-27-2017 03:51 AM

Kassaundra- very cool and unique take on the BH quilt. Neat way to quilt it, I like the way you used the lighter thread to ditch around the small diagonal squares becomes so that element of the quilt becomes an interesting focal point on the back. Good job!

Finally have some time to post my May finishes, 3 quilts, these needed quilting and binding, 2 table spiral runners, had them sewn together but needed quilted and binding. Bill's family was all here the past 4 days for graduation. This scrappy was the last quilt his Mother was doing before she passed away. 4 kids, so I cut it in 4 pieces, quilted them and finished so each one of them could have a piece. The other 3 are on their way home with the new owners.

Kassaundra 05-28-2017 01:14 PM

Congrats Jaba, you have been busy! What an awesome idea dividing the last work so each child could have a piece, Solomon would be proud!
