Congrats on the finish. The wonky block is on my 'wanna-try' list.
I like the website www. maryquilts.com I used her pattern Forest Bricks to make a quilt for my brother.

Here's my latest UFO finish. I couldn't resist this "Wander" fabric at JoAnns, so I made it into a quilt for our travel trailer. Finished it just in time for our upcoming glamping trip. The pattern is Twisted Happy Blocks Quilt, a free pattern from MaryQuilts.com. (Check out her website for some great free quilt patterns.) I adjusted the block size to accommodate my fussy-cut squares. DH had a 9" plexiglass square cut for me at a local shop. They only charged him $1, and it was perfect for me to use to square up the blocks. The quilting is SID and ruler work. I used the Westalee Sew Steady 5.5" Spinning Wheel 36 template to stitch the centers of the blocks. I also made a couple of pillow covers. I'm going to give one of them to a neighbor. |
I am starting a UFO from last year; a Baby's First Year Clothing Quilt for my daughter's friend. Well I got the clothes from her last year. LOL, and I cut them for the quilt, then I got side-tracked with comfort quilts, but mostly with not being able to decide which pattern I wanted to use. Baby is now 2, lol, so I have got to get his done!
My reward will be starting an art quilt for the first time ever! It's my impression of a photo a friend took. I'm excited to try something like this. Rob you are my inspiration!! |
Thanks again Anne2016 and Joe'smom (Lisa), for your kind words. Lisa, the very reason I made it a wall hanging. And I gifted to the last great-grand, her mom was never going to use as a quilt.
Leta, (#1079) that baby quilt is darling and the little accents just add to it. |
Great baby Quilt and the quilting too.
|
Letwellman, that is absolutely adorable! Love the quilting.
Cherry: OMG those are super terrific. Love the crossstitch most because it is not something I do. Sophie, those bags are worthy of being finished. Super pretty. DJ; Super finish!!! And pillows to match the quilt. WOW |
two rainy days in a row here = lots of studio time! Somehow I missed all the posts yesterday.
Leta- that is one cute quilt, I love the 3-d effects. Sophie- nice bags, congratulations on finishing both! DJ- quilt and pillows too, way to go! Yesterday I got all the ditching done on my May UFO, might get it done today, depends on how much more quilting I want to do. It's a very busy top and the pieces are small enough that the ditching alone is more than enough quilting for the batting.... rob |
DJ, great job on the wonky squares! I made one last year, and the blocks were terribly wonky, in the wrong way. None of them were the right size, so I just trimmed them all down. Fortunately there was still enough space around the edges.
That's a wonderful baby quilt, letawellman! Beautiful quilting! |
Those baby quilts are darling! Love the bibs you made QM and the purses and tablemats look so fresh and summery. Awesome job everyone!
Happy Mother's Day ladies, enjoy a great day. |
QM, your bibs are just so stinkin' cute. The expressions on the animals' faces make me smile. The couple looks so happy with that quilt. Good job! And the booties are adorable.
|
Jaba, that bright purple floral quilt is gorgeous! If you ever want to rehome it, talk to me first:)
|
Thanks again QuilterMomma (#1085) for your encouragement, I did the stamped hand cross stitched embroidering last summer while doing my summer grand kids sitting in Georgia. That was the only thing that kept me sane.
DJ, thanks for that free pattern link and your quilt and pillows are really cute. Wildyard (Linda, #1082), that idea of the baby clothing quilt sounds great, may be something I might want to play with the last great-grand, cause she is growing so fast. Happy Mother's day everyone |
Sophie2, those bags are adorable.
DJ, love how you used that wander fabric, perfect way to show it off. letawellman, that is such a cute quilt. Great finishes everyone. |
Lovely quilts, Cherry! Hand quilting provides a very pretty finish. Thanks for the pix. Toot, Toot and congratulations on your 2 UFO finishes. :)

These weren't a big project, but they are finished. I consider anything I had before the beginning of 2017 a UFO. Just prior to retiring, three years ago, I purchased a lot of kits as well as yardage. Now I am trying to work my way thru all the kits and fabric. It will be some time before I get thru them all! Will just keep plugging along. This thread has really helped me get some done.

This is a sweet baby quilt with all those fun animals and bright colors. Toot, Toot Leta for a wonderful UFO finish.

OK, so here is my one and only finish so far this year :(
It is embroidered animals, with some 3D effects for the lion's mane, the giraffe's mane and the other animals' whiskers. I have to finish the binding, which I'll do tonight, so I consider this one FINISHED!! |
Thank you Janice, for recognizing that my finishes are hand quilted. It's been lots of fun going back to ole school tactics to finish. I got a couple more UFO's that I am planning that way. Happy Mother's day to you. Happy sewing all

UFO completed!

Hey all, I have a UFO finish for May. This one was started in either late 2015 or early 2016, and is all from scraps. After I got 4 blocks put together I realized I didn't have enough of one of the fabrics in my scrap pile. My design wall at the time was too small to lay it out and figure out what to do to get around the not enough fabric problem, and I got frustrated with it. So it got thrown on the UFO pile and completely forgotten about until last week when I was looking for a UFO other than the 2 that were supposed to be my next finishes LOL.
35 1/2 inches square. first pic is front, 2nd is back Rob |
That's very cool Rob, and I keep loving the way you mix your fabrics. You open my eyes more and more! Thank you for that, you and everyone!
|
Rob (#1097), that is one gorgeous quilt there, we all love and respect your work. Just gorgeous
Happy sewing y'all |
Nice finish, Rob.
|
Love the border break-up, rryder.
|
Congrats to everyone on the wonderful finishes and thanks for sharing!
I started the year with 2 and still have 2. Lol! I really need to concentrate on finishing them this summer! Connie P.S. My Bonnie Hunter quilt still has until her next one starts in November before I will add it to my UFO list. |
I finished Alleitiere (sp) the week before En Provence started. But this year I have done better I only have binding left to do on En Provence de' Noir (my version has black neutrals)

I got a red and white flimsy on the quilt table today, it's quilted, binding sewn on 1 side and now just to do the hand sewn binding. Not quite done yet but soon....Finished one large table topper and have the binding sewn on a spiral runner...hand sewing left on that one too. Finishes soon I hope

I've stalled here..with nice spring weather I've been working outside..Thursday I'm leaving for a week to meet our 2 new grandsons and spend time with their 2 yo sister...I think I get a Gram pass!
|
Congrats on the finish, rryder.
|
Thanks everyone.
connie- not to worry, you still have plenty of time to get to them. Oksewglad- Gram passes are a good thing. Have fun! Rob |
Very cool finish, Rob! That's an interesting combination of fabrics.
|
How cool is that finish, Rob!!
I love the "interrupted" border - I would never have thought to do that, and even if I had, I would not have thought that it would look as good as yours does. As always, you challenge my ways of thinking about quilting. I ordered some new threads that I will be "testing" before I use them in the UFO Lone Star. I also need to order some black batting. And some kind of high loft batting, as I will double-batt it to emphasize the quilting. One of the ladies in my longarm group recommended Superior Threads "Magnifico", as it has enough shimmer and shine that it almost acts like the metallic threads. I've marked my main registration lines on the "sample", and will use leftover batting, so I can't wait for the threads to get here. With the encouragement of everyone here, as well as my LA group, I'm hoping this will be an awesome entry for MQX next spring. Of course I'll post here. It will get a UFO out of my way, and perhaps some "kudos" as well. :) |
Congratulations, Rob, on another UFO finish. It's a good feeling to finish one that caused frustration. Now you never have to deal with it again, at least not in an unpleasant way. :) Toot, Toot!
Hey all, I have a UFO finish for May. It hasn't been the quiet week I'd hoped for so finding quilting time is difficult. I've got 7 or 8 of my 12 blocks quilted but I'm going to redo one I'm displeased with. It's the block itself, not the quilting. Glad some of you are busy working away and others, I don't blame you a bit for enjoying nice weather or "gram" time! Laundry calls. :( Enjoy the rest of your week. :)
|
Totally fabulous Rob. I love that you used the blocks on the backing. That is so neat. Great job and bet that feels refreshing to have another finish.

While I was waiting to go to my dr appointment yesterday am, I was doing some embroidery on the machine so thought to do some sewing. Here are some ufos that sat there for about a year and half, squirrels left behind. LOl I cut them up, but did not get them finished for presents. Silly me. Well I am ahead of the game now aren't I.
Nice thing is that I did not cut up anymore than these. Hubby wants me to make the snowmen for our placemats. I may, we shall see though. No promises till I get there. |
QuilterMomma, nice finishes.
|
QMomma... great finishes. I have bookmarked your post because I want to try the Snowman as a table topper.
Also like the purses. Love the use of bl/lgt/gray fabrics. Is there a pattern for the bag? |
Rob that's really cool. Love the "interrupted" border as well.
QM snowman is so cute. Those bags are great too. |

Thx for the reply. I will check out Jenny's tute.

QM- love the snowman and those bags! I've made a couple of bags using Jenny's tutorial, but never thought to do any quilting other than vertical lines. I particularly like the one with the crosshatching-- gives it a Japanese look.
Rob |
Adorable Santa and the bags are very nice, too. I'll look up the tut as well. Thanks for letting us know where you found it. Congrats on your three UFO finishes and Toot, Toot QM!
