Glojean....congrats on the finish. Great colors. Made only one LC and not likely to make another. Like the look but don't like the piecing.
|
Amazing work, QuilterMomma! I'm sorry about your foot troubles.
That's beautiful, GloJean48! Janice, you have been such a wonderful leader for us. Thank you for all the time you have put in encouraging us and keeping tabs! |
It is a sateen fabric from Fabric.Com. Thank you all.
GoJean, pretty log cabin. Love that pattern. |
Glojean48, congrats on the finish. It looks great.

GloJean - fabulous quilt. I've never heard of a half log cabin, but after seeing yours I'm going to search out the pattern. Thanks for sharing.

Good heavens, QM! I cannot imagine how difficult this was and the time involved! It's absolutely beautiful :)

Oh, and this is a finish, not a UFO, but a finish. I had to hand dye the jacket and those pintucks in front take some time. I quilted the rest of the outfit. Will be on display at Pacific International Quilt Show in Santa Clara, CA.

Glojean, just waiting for your say so that the quilt is done! It's lovely with the browns. I think browns are so earthy and soothing and often underrated.

I finally got another one of my Half-Log Cabin quilts finished and only have to do the binding on another one so will post a photo when I'm done. I've taught this class several times so I always make new blocks and have quite a few quilts, plus blocks to make more.
|
Thanks for the compliments. :) You all have inspired me these last two years. I hope to finish one more UFO before the year is up to cap it off for me. I will continue to work on my UFOs and hopefully have some finishes to add next year as well. I certainly have several years' worth at the rate I finish them.
|
I spent 3 days at a quilting retreat. Did I work on any UFOs? No. Did I start a new project? Yes. Shaking head in disbelief.
|
That is hilarious MadQuilter. Yeah, we tend to do that don't we.
|
Tonight's roll call at guild was what is your next quilt? Ha...I think I had better work on one of those ...I refuse to count...UFO's! Almost finished with a UFO top which has used almost 3 yards of stash fabric for setting squares and triangles....Yeah! Then onto my little house quilt...also using border and setting fabrics for stash...another win win!

Before my sewing session, I plan to finish my scarecrow wallhanging, my snowman table runner, and finish a disappearing 4-patch throw for charity. Oh, I did finish a small cat quilt UFO for my kitten. I put it on the bed so she could sleep on it. So we could use that as an October finish. Still unable to post pic. Have fun sewing everyone. |

My UFO for this month - I won these blocks at a guild Block Draw a year or two ago. Finally put the binding on this weekend.

Well, I decided to cut up one of my UFOs to make a convergence quilt. Apparently I am still not particularly accomplished at following directions, so after mangling the cutting and piecing instructions in Ricky Tims' convergence quilt book, I decided to cut my losses and just do a quick quilt and bind job on it. All is not lost as it can be used on my nightstand and it's one more UFO off the pile!

I like it Rob. Very interesting - I think the ratio of what draws your eyes and places of rest is great (at least for my eyes:))I really like the binding as well. Is that a decorative stitch or zigzag front and back? Really sets it off.
|
Thanks Erin,
There are two stitches front and back. The stitch that holds the rattail binding on the edge is an overcast stitch--Usually I just use a zigzag to attach the rattail, but wanted to try using my overcasting foot. Then I used one of the decorative satin stitches on my machine to stitch just inside the binding and then another round just above that. Rob |
Congrats on the finish, Rob.
|
Nice finish Rob. I do like the quiet colors and it should look nice on your nightstand.
|
A fun finish, kristakz....it's amazing how different one fabric looks when you cut it...nice job, rob
|
Nice mangle job, Rob! Was part of that a picture of the forest? I like it a lot.

Rob, that's beautiful! I always enjoy seeing your work.

Lol, Rob. I have that book too and haven't attempted one yet. But a UFO finish is a UFO finish so one more for you. Congratulations and Toot, Toot!

QM, I am sorry to hear you are having problems with your foot. Trust me, I would NEVER let Fred loose on anyone, he is a cruel and heartless taskmaster and never confines himself to one part of the body, nor to one system. Fibromyalgia Fred makes his co-tenant, Arthur Arthritis look like the epitome of kindness and consideration. LOL
I just finished a weighted and textured quilt for my grandson who has high-functioning autism. He was able to visit for a few days and learned to piece some blocks that we used in the quilt. We worked together on making the blocks and planning the design, then I finished the quilt after he had to leave. It weighs 7 lbs. and has many textures of fabrics as well as added textures such as embroidery, ragging, beading, etc. |
