Thanks Martina, the vision has been good enough today that I was able to get just about all of the BH Clue 3 stitched (still need to press and trim) and also made some progress on the UFO trivets that are destined for Xmas presents. I was sorry to read about your friend's cancer--I'm sure the quilt will be a great comfort.
Rob |
Belfrybat- I'm sorry to hear about your friend. The quilt you made for him is a beautiful way to commemorate all the things he has done for your church.
Rob |
Belfrybat, that's a lovely comfort quilt for your suffering church-member. I believe that at least some of our UFO's are just waiting for their calling to bring them to life, and that one certainly found it. Good work setting those blocks!
|
That's a lovely quilt Belfrybat, and amazing that you were able to complete it so quickly. I'm sure it will mean so much to your friend.
|
Stepping Stones is completed - actually it's in the wash. It will go to work with me on Monday. Similar to belfrybat's situation, mine is going to a dear colleague who was just diagnosed with a very aggressive cancer. His prognosis is OK but the treatment and sacrifice it takes him to get the prognosis is very difficult. I hope the quilt helps a little along a very painful path. For some reason QB doesn't "see" the picture in my phone. I will have to figure this out and try again later.
|
I'm looking forward to seeing the pic of the comfort quilt you made for your friend, Martina. I have the same problem with the phone thing. I have to upload photos to QB from my laptop. Can't get them to upload to QB from either my iPad or iPhone.

2 more UFOs finished
1 Attachment(s)
Hey everyone,
I have just finished two more UFOs for December. They're smaller trivets than the ones that I made in November. I think they will become part of a set-- 1 large and 1 or 2 small trivets--to be given as Xmas presents. I'm hoping to get another couple done before Christmas. Still have clothesline left....Can't imagine why I bought so much, unless I was intending to make some really large bowls or a rug... Here's pics. Rob |

Well, I grabbed one of the UFO shoeboxes... and man-oh-man, this is an Antique UFO...as in... about 30 years of a UFO!!!!!!
I had just started learning to quilt, and I have always loved the Dresden plate pattern. Unfortunately, I discovered pretty quickly that the applique aspect of DP is not my forte... so there it sat, year after year after year... But I really have issues with throwing stuff away. I have to Really hate it to do so... and while this UFO gives me distress for various reasons, I don't hate it. So, I thought and thought about Why I abandoned it... the applique aspect... how I hate to turn edges under (because it looks awful)... how if I don't, it will ravel... and inspiration struck... I can't do a lot about the blocks that were already finished, but the unfinished ones are now getting backed with fusible before I stitch them down onto their base. So, there were about 6-8 already done... and I completed 3 tonight... and there's quite a few yet to go... I'll hit the stash for sashing and backing when I get that far, but here's a "sneak peek"... will it get finished before 12/31/17? I don't know but it's at least moving towards completion... |
This is darling, QM. It's such a happy project. Toot, Toot for your UFO finish!

At least I finished one during my lunch hour today. I have four more to go. These runners (5) were started three years ago by my husband and me. He cut out all the pieces, I refused. He bought it for me to make for the five kids. Uh, me and handwork do not do well. Hence why so long being done. Hopefully by the end of this week I will have the other four done.

MadQuilter, congratulations on your finish of Stepping Stones. I hope your colleague will enjoy the quilt for many years to come. Toot, Toot.

Congratulations for your 2 UFO finishes, Rryder! Even under the weather so to speak, you make finishes happen. Toot, Toot.

Commercial, I completed 2 ufo’s. My snowman table runner and pink large block quilt. I made the quilt top 5 years ago. It was intended for a friend, but she moved out of the area and I lost track of her. So my grand niece will get this quilt. She likes pink. I made the 5 snowman blocks 3 years ago. I decided it will look good on my bar area between my kitchen and dining room. Now to work on 2 other ufo’s Before the end of the year. Pics will be posted tomorrow.

Hi everyone, I'm sliding in to this challenge in the last few weeks for the year! I've just started Christmas holidays and was going to treat myself to a few quilting shop visits - however I could not suppress the guilt of going fabric shopping for a new project knowing that I have an uncomfortable number of UFO's lurking in my craft cupboard. So my goal is to get two UFO's finished by the end of the week. 1) Finish appliqué tote bags that I started as Christmas presents nearly 7 years ago... and 2) Quilt an advent calendar panel that I have had half finished for 3 years.. I'll report back soon!
|
Those trivets are gorgeous rryder! It must be fascinating to watch the unique colour patterns appear while you are assembling them.
|
I have another stocking tablerunner done, no pick because I had to get in the mail asap because he was coming in to get package as I just finished at lunch today. So that is another completed UFO, three more to go by end of week.
|
So sorry Belfrybat, nice quilt which should cheer R up during this difficult time.
|
Nice trivets Rob. You are getting those done.
|
Happylab, am looking forward to the pix. In the meantime, Toot, Toot for your two UFO finishes!

EJ, you can start anytime you want and let me tell you two UFO finishes by the end of the week will take us just a bit closer to our goal of 300 UFO finishes this year. Am hoping you can do it! Welcome.

My March 2017 UFO (En Provence) is finished! I've been in the slow lane this year for sure. Quilted by Charisma.
|
Great finish Fraew- that is stunning!
Rob |
I had a great beginning of November, but then fractured a rib and most of quilting has been very painful. So will have no more finished UFOs. I have significantly less pain and thus more movement but am afraid of causing injury. Also I added to my UFO pile, or shall I say someone else's UFO was donated to me for my UFO pile.
I have been enjoying all the finished UFO on here. Wonderful to all. Jeanine |
Thanks Rob! I still can't figure out why I stall at binding. It's so relaxing once I get going.

Mad Quilter: That is an amazing quilt! It looks 3D. WOW.
Jeanine |
That’s beautiful, Martina!
Rob |
Fraew, your En Provence quilt is beautiful. Congrates on your finish. Are you working on this year's BHMQ? I am, I really like her colors this year. I'm about 3.5 steps behind, but making progress. I like to go slow and enjoy the process.
Madquilter your finish looks 3-d, really nice. Was that made with stripes and 1/2 square Triangles? Congrates on your finish!!! |
Thanks happylab. Yes, I'm working on the current mystery. I'm 2.5 steps behind. :D

Your quilts are beautiful Fraew and Madquilter! Congratulations on your finishes, now you can snuggle under them guilt-free :)
Well, after your masterpieces I will shyly sneak in my finished my tote bags..nothing fabulous but they make me smile :) I finished the appliqué on them about 8 years ago when I first wanted to try my hand at machine appliqué. They are made up mostly of vintage yo-yo's that were made by my great auntie. The half finished bags have moved country with me and how now finally been assembled, ready to send home to my Mum and 2 sisters who they were originally intended for. I decided that they were probably never going to take them out in public so I swapped out the shoulder straps and made them into draw string 'project bags'. Now they have somewhere to store all the bits and pieces of their own UFO's! Now onto finishing my advent calendar! |
Well, now, congratulations on your En Provence UFO finish! It's beautiful. Toot, Toot!

Good evening. Just a reminder that my term is coming to an end on New Year's Eve. We could still use someone to step up and take this UFO Challenge board over. Anyone wishing to do so, please PM me and I'll be glad to share my trade secrets. :) Thank you!

I really like those tote bags. They make me smile!

2 more UFOs done!

Hey all,
Here's the last of the trivets from that bunch of clothesline I bought a while back. Don't know if I'll get any more UFOs done before the end of the month. Rob |

Rob have to give you credit on those trivets. I wanted to make those so bad, bought the clothesline etc. and ended up just dying it. That wrapping drove me nuts and I really had a mess!
Nice finishes on the quilts and bags too, you all have been very busy!! I haven't gotten too much done with moving into our new house, but it's finally pretty much done. I started these placemats and the runner last year, finally finished them last night, just in time for Christmas. Actually have 6 more placemats for the set. Finished this baby quilt this morning, it's been in pieces for 2 or 3 years. |
Rryder, congrats on finishing up those trivets. You are probably an expert at it now. Toot, Toot!

300!!!
Jaba, you get the grand prize! Even if you count the placemats as a single UFO finish, these two bring our total year to date to 300! Toot, Toot for your wonderful UFO finishes and for helping us achieve that 300 mark.
