Rob your trivets looks great. Congrates on your finish.

Jaba, congrates on both your finishes and taking us over the 300 mark. I really like the colors in the baby quilt.

I’m not able to post pics of my 2 finishes. I’lll keep trying until I can. It seems to be a hit and miss on this board at times.

So correct, Rose. I was surprised everything that hurt. Even typing. I am much better in that the pain is less, but still there with many movements. I am hoping to soon be able to lift one of the quilts to finish it. I was able to lift the iron today. Improvement. One silver lining to this - I don't have to cook or clean. LOL My hubby is such a dear to do the basics, and ignore the rest.

Thanks Rob also for your wishes.

Those place mats are realy pretty Jaba and I love the planetary quilt, both the colors and the subject are favorites of mine! Congratulations on the finishes!

Rob

There are already 82 pages of people in this challenge. I guess I'll start page 83. I started to put together a quilt for which my grandmother made the squares. I don't know many years ago I started to hand quilt the quilt. I still have several blocks that need quilting and all of the borders and then the quilt needs binding. If I could finish this one UFO this year it would be a major accomplishment.

cherrybsixty 12-25-2017 07:21 AM

I just want to say a very Merry Christmas to all my UFO friends and enjoy your holiday and we try again in the new year to finish what we couldn't this year. Happy Holidays

Here’s pic of snowmanwall table runner. It is very long. 5 blocks of the one you see here. The right edge santa is the backing, and the black blob is my black cat helping me do this. I finished this a week ago. Was unable to post pic then.

I’m unable to post pic of pink quilt. I can only post pics as I take them and write my note. I mailed out the pink quilt last week. So no pic, sorry.

I hope everyone is havinga great christmas.

Back on Board!! I tried last year and did several finishes but wasn't good at reporting back and encouraging others!! This year I plan to retire in April so I will have more time to quilt and see what is going on with others! I look forward to finishing projects, making new friends and doing lots of quilting!!! TOOT TOOT goes the train!!!

So all five of these are done. I am so thrilled to have gotten these done.

Belfrybat 12-26-2017 02:02 PM

QM - the stocking pieces are wonderful. Is that felt you used?
I finished piecing and quilting three prayer quilts over the weekend and hope to get them bound by the end of the week so I can claim 3 more finishes.

QuilterMomma 12-26-2017 03:25 PM

It is a wool felt. A mixture of the two.

anne2016 12-27-2017 07:01 AM

Hi everyone. I haven't posted in a while but wanted to congratulate everyone on the latest finishes. I so appreciated the encouragement I got from all of you this past year.

E. J. .....great bags. They made me smile too.

Belfrybat.....congrats on the finishes. Your take on the T.Frenzy pattern is interesting. Never made the pattern. It always seemed like it was a too difficult.
I am sorry for your friend's medical problems and I hope he enjoys the prayer quilt.

happylab....congrats on finishing the cute snowman wall/table runner and the pink quilt.

QMomma.....Glad you finished your wool felt runners. They are adorable! I like the added touches of lights and buttonhole stitch.

Martina...I like your Stepping Stones quilt. I have had that pattern on my 'want-to-try' list for a long time.

jaba......congrats on the finishes. I like the placemats and runner....lovely colors...and your space quilt is great. I am a fan of science fiction and space movies and I have made a few space-related quilts. I watch for photos of quilts using space fabrics. I have bookmarked your post for inspiration.

cherrybsixty.... added your post to my kids' quilts folder. Have many b/white pieces leftover from another quilt and will use your quilt photo as inspiration for a baby quilt.

Fraew.....Your En Provence is beautiful!
I have never made a BHM quilt but like looking at all the wonderful quilts people do using her mystery patterns.

Leta.....congrats on finishing the unfinished Dresden Plates and getting the cosmetic bags done. The bags will make great gifts.

Rob... do you still have clothesline left? You must be seeing trivets in your dreams. Every time you showed pics of newly-made ones, I kept thinking..'the trouble with Tribbles' and I'd giggle. They are great for gifts.

I wanted to make sure that I acknowledged all your wonderful achievements. I had 2 tabs open for QB and I hope I did not miss anyone or mix up my comments. If I did, please forgive me.

Janice, you are our fearless leader! You have done a wonderful job this past year. Thank you. Hopefully someone will start a new challenge thread for next year.

Everyone......I sincerely hope that 2018 is a fantastic year for all of you. No doubt we will all have some woes but I will pray that the joys greatly outnumber the troubles and that the troubles are made easier to bear by good friends and family.

Good evening! Just a quick FYI that I'm out of town and away from my UFO challenge data. I'll update this thread on Saturday and bring you all up to date. Thanks for your patience!

Those are gorgeous Quilter Momma! There is SO much work in each single stocking let alone 5 panels of them! I am in awe - you deserve to be thrilled!

Also love your table runner and placemats Jaba, a lovely completed set. Did you enjoy using them for Christmas?

I have finally finished my advent calendar panel just in time for...er..Christmas next year...oh well, better late than never :) It is a makower panel from a few years ago. I've been working on it on and off for probably 3 years. I attached the pockets, tacked it to batting, quilted around the train outline and border, pieced the backing, attached a hanging sleeve and bound it. I'm happy to have it finished and looking forward to Christmas 2018 when I can pull it out of the cupboard, guilt-free, knowing that it is ready to use :)

Kassaundra this is from the swap I was in too right? Is that my boat? It is nice to see quilts that are finnished from swap blocks. I like all that you added and the layout. I ended up using mine for the NICU baby quilts, so they also got a good home. Thanks for posting the pictures.

This one is finished. It is Sunrise and made from one layer cake and one charm pack. This is Roses on the Vine. It is only a top, but that is as far as I am taking them right now. That makes 8 in the pile to go to the L.A. Yikes!

Kassaundra 12-29-2017 05:58 AM

Yes those were from our BYC swap. I posted a pic on the BYC thread, but I don't think to many people go there anymore. I know I rarely do it is so hard to navigate w/ the new updates, and all my thousands of pictures disappeared. I still haven't even started any of the other blocks yet.

Nice pattern. Congrats on the finish.

oksewglad 12-29-2017 08:16 AM

Sew great to see some more finishes...not happening here for a while...work and family are at the head of the line for a time...

I like the "just the tops" as a finish, too. I too have 8 ready to quilt. In fact have one almost done, and battings and backings for 6 of them!

Happy New Year everyone...let's plan for a productive 2018!

I have two more finishes and three that only need the binding. These are all throw sized prayer quilts. Not sure I'll get to the last three before January as I got behind on On Ringo Lake mystery and would like to get caught up this weekend. This is the second earthtones snowball quilt I've made and this time I used smaller squares and like it better. It's a pattern from MSQC.

More finishes just in time for the new year! That is a lovely pattern Battle Axe, it looks very cosy and calming in the the colours that you have chosen.
Two finishes and a weekend of stitching to look forward to Belfrybat! Sounds like the perfect way to see out 2017 :)

Janice McC 12-29-2017 04:45 PM

Quick news flash! Looks like someone is stepping up to lead this challenge for 2018. Fingers are crossed! I'll let her post if she wishes.

In the meantime, I'll finish up 2017. I've been out of town and should be able to catch up sometime tomorrow. :)

cannyquilter 12-30-2017 01:52 AM

Thanks Janice. Still have two UFOs to finish, haven't been active on thread for a while but have been following along. Thank you for all your work on this thread. Happy New Year to all.

Janice McC 12-30-2017 08:19 AM

Well, Marymild, you still have two days. Any chance you can do it??? If not, it could be an early finish for next year!

I hope to get a confirmation PM that the person who expressed interest will actually take it over. I'm not 100 percent sure but I know this challenge will continue.

Thank you to everyone who participated this year. It's been filled with hundreds of gorgeous and inspiring finishes. And take heart, even if you had "only" a couple of finishes (like me) or even no finishes, if you worked on a UFO, it's a win. Keep plugging away!

Anyone else have more finishes for 2017 to post? I'll continue to check this thread for a few days into 2018 to pick up those last minute finishes and I'll post the total.

letawellman 12-30-2017 12:26 PM

Well, I know I won't have any more finishes for this year, but when I got home from Christmas with the grandbabies, I decided to do a "walk thru" to see what I have.

Without looking into the closet, I have 11 UFO's, 7 kits (not started), 1 commission quilt (which I really need to get started on) and two quilts that I hope to have ready for MQX - one of those is also a UFO. If I finish all these this year, that will give me my goal of 1 per month.
I have no clue what might be lurking in the closet and totes. :D

So, I'll definitely be on the 2018 UFO train, as well as the 2018 Fabric Moratorium.

Belfrybat 12-30-2017 03:28 PM

Yes, I'm in for 2018. I've managed to get the easy UFOs done, thanks to the encouragement of this group, so the ones left are more difficult. But I need a challenge, right? Right!

Rose_P 12-31-2017 09:51 AM

We had our family here for a few days, and I didn't go near the sewing room. Now I have caught the lovely cold one of the kids brought for us. Can't complain, though, because it's the first time I've been sick all year, and it's not too bad. I'm much more in the mood for reading about quilting than actually doing anything. I have really enjoyed visiting this board and seeing all the great projects that got done in 2017. You all have been an inspiration to me, and I wouldn't miss it in 2018. I still have a bunch of UFO's waiting for me. I don't even want to count. One at a time is the only way to approach them. Happy New Year everyone!

A few late finishes. Actually, the finishes aren't late, just the posting :) Trying to remember where I got to in posting my finishes, but here it goes:
First one is a panel I picked up a couple of years ago. Finally got inspired and put borders on it at a retreat. Quilted and bound in time for Christmas. Second is from a set of fat quarters I bought a few years ago. Finally decided to do something with them - and now I have my January window display.

I see that neither of these photos have binding on them. Hopefully you'll take my word for the fact that they are 100% finished and in use.
