Thank you SBG. I sure wish I still had my iPhone. Frustrating issues with the "find my phone app" made it necessary to get a Samsung Galaxy. I dislike this platform & now the QB doesnt give an option to upload photos from this phone.

Technology can sure be frustrating! :D

I posted a picture of my completed vintage looking quilt on the picture thread, Tho, not a UFO since I don't have any of those, I stayed true to my goal of finishing what I start so that is a win for me...woohoo!,

This one has been sitting around for a couple of years. I think it was a New Years' Day mystery quilt. Can't quite remember. Anyhow, quilted it with a bunch of stuff, feathers, pebbles, spirals and easy ruler work just to get it done. May put another line of ruler work in the white triangles.

Nothing new quilted for me, with the weird weather I just want to sit and read. Our local yarn shop closed today and sent a news letter saying happy January 145th. 9+ inches of snow in April makes me want to watch a movie and have a glass of wine. I'm off work tomorrow so maybe I'll clean the sewing room and find something to work on. I know I have projects to finish.
Happy sewing everyone! |
Thank you, Dedemac!! And, enjoy the snuggle weather. Your plan sounds so nice...
|
Dedemac: The weather was definitely weird today! April in MN is all I can say. LOL!
Conchalea: Congratulations on finishing your daughter's UFO! Bless your heart for taking the time to unstitch and resew. I sometimes have trouble with my iPhone not allowing me to reply. I have found that sometimes I logged out accidently or I am not in the web version which I have found on the bottom of the thread pages. I hope you get things figured out so we can see pictures. |
Dedemac, I am using a midarm, but you can easily do ruler work with a domestic. I did for along time before I got my Tiara.
You just have to be sure to get the right size of rulers for your machine. Any dealer should be able to tell you which size you need. I would suggest the Westalee Starter Kit for a place to start. It has the foot and my favourite ruler in it, which is a straight edge on one side and an arc on the other. Watson |
Connie, thanks for the tip on using web version. I scrolled down & sure e ought, it said 'full site' so I wasn't on the web version! I'm not sure why it changed on me, but I try the photo again. Nope. Photo is too large & I dont seem able to resize on the phone. I'll have to do it from my computer.
|
Conchalea: I’m glad you found the full site version. I downloaded a free app for resizing photos on my iPhone.
|
I gave the quilt to my friend today. She got teary-eyed over it. She's been in the hospital for 10 days, had to have emergency surgery, plus a follow-up surgery. It's been a long haul for her & her family, so I was glad to brighten her day a little.
|
Conchalea, wonderful that your friend loved the quilt! I hope she continues to improve.
For the past several days, when I access the site from my phone, I am also having to click on “full site” and then sign in! Even with the “remember me” box checked, I am having to sign in every single time. Apparently it’s a problem the site is having. Maybe we should report it. It’s annoying. |
Have several UFO's that need quilting. The quilt studio should be back in order next wk, so I can return to that project.

Here are two ufos that are quilted, still need binding but getting there. Loaded up my Good Fortune quilt to quilt next. I think I still have 4 tops after the Good Fortune to get quilted- then I will start working on the ones that still need work to finish the tops.
|
ckcowl...such pretty quilts...the rabbit fabric is so adorable. nice job!
|
Love that redwork, ck! The bunny quilt looks sweet and comfy too, with minky on the back. I have yet to try using minky. Nice finishes.
|
Lovely quilts, ckcowl. That embroidery has such beautiful detail.
I've been working on the binding of my current UFO, and have started quilting the next in line. |
So pretty, ckcowl.....I love the red work. My MIL does this and they are always my favorite of her needlework
sewbiz..hoping the tornadoes passed you and your loved ones by. I was thinking of you as I watched the weather. Scary stuff... |

Ckcowl: Very pretty. Congratulations on your progress with the UFOs.
|
Congratulations on finishing Ckcowl! Minky still intimidates me, but your quilt looks so cozy and soft that I may yet give it a go.

I managed to get my good fortune quilt quilted and the binding machine stitched onto the front of this one and onto the bunny baby quilt. I’m getting there. I dug through my shelves and found backing fabrics for 4 more so I can continue. Amazing what you find in the back and bottom of Stacks of fabric on your shelves.
|
Very pretty Good Fortune, ckcowl! Thanks for showing it.
|
That is so pretty, ckcowl!
|
Very pretty Good Fortune, ckcowl!
and great that you were able to shop stash for backings for your next batch! Rob |
Three beautiful quilts sooo close the completion, I'm here to cheer you on! Love stitching down the binding by hand. I'm a odd one. :p :D
I have been working on the GHG forever quilt. I did finish the poncho I was knitting, but it wasn't a UFO. I am waiting for it to finish drying so I can unblock it and see if it fits the way I hope. |
Just so you know...why I better quit starting new projects and buy fabric only to finish these!.....
I spent 4 hours in the sewing room after 2:00 am (then slept for 3 hours). Quiet time with lots accomplished, except I found 10 UFO's, 7 WIP's, 2 homemade kits...pattern and fabric ready to cut, and 2 PIP (plans in progress). And those are only in my sewing room! I have 2 WIP's upstairs! Whew...at least I know what I can do when I get bored with a certain project. These are all larger than lap size so will take some time to get through |
Time to join this group since I have been destashing, organizing and am on a fabric moratorium. Gathered UFOs that are in gallon bag and smaller together in a handled basket. Made a list of UFOs and started on one that is four years old. Will try to post picture once I get borders on next week.
|
Way to go, OK!! Bummer you uncovered more stuff to do but must feel good to get this all done..
Welcome, AUQuilter!! Good luck on your commitment! We'll be cheering you on.. So, I haven't started a new project yet...though I'm helping my SIL finish one of her quilts..but no new projects for me. |
Welcome to the group AUQuilter, just take your UFO's one day at a time. I look at mine and some times sigh that they are still unfinished, some day. :) Looking for a small one to give me a sense of accomplishment. And I don't want to start something new.
|
Welcome AuQuilter. This is a fun group, and we all manage to finish some UFOs too!
Rob |
It's crazy...one of the UFO needs a border on the pieced center section, then add 2 pieced borders which are already done...another border, then 2 more already pieced borders! So little to do! It may come to the top of my to do list.
Welcome AUQuilter...this challenge help us be accountable to our UFO's...good luck on yours. |

Joining in the UFO challenge!
Finished this one last week, it had been sitting in a bin, all sandwiched with batting and backing, and even the binding had been made. Since around 2006 I think. Our guild is having a show next month, so that was the impetus I needed to finish it. Pattern is from a booklet called “Lessons from Mama”. I am calling my version - Springtime in Paris. |
FYI, VQW has started early today.
|
That is a beautiful quilt, OhCanada! Love it in yellow.
Happylab, thanks for the head's up! |
Welcome here, OhCanada and congratulations on your beautiful, finished UFO!
Rob |
Oh Canada...cheery and so Easter like..well done.
|
OhCanada, that's a beautiful quilt. The touches of dark red are wonderful!
|
Yesterday, went to a group sew. Trying to decide what to take, the sewing studio shelves had a UFO. I didn't like the way it was going and put it aside. Pulled that down, and took the whole stack to group sew. Wanting to cut the time to 3 hrs to finish top, replanned the project, finished the top & back, returned the other fabrics to stash and it will be sandwiched today. Yes!!! It's beginning to look like an active sewing studio, not a storage facility.
|
Beautiful finish, Oh Canada.....soft colors with a pop of dark...just lovely.. Welcome!!
|
Petthefabric, I love your reference to a storage facility. It made me laugh. I have been out of conversations here because I have not been sewing. It is the end of the university semester and grading and student requests are a bit intense. Next week should allow me a little quilting time. Just a little! :o
