I'm really excited about this challenge but I have no idea who BH is or how she does classes. Is there anything I need to know?

Did you go to the official link (posted on the first page of this thread but here again):
https://quiltville.blogspot.com/2019...ntro.html#more

If you've never done a mystery quilt before, it's just following a pattern that you don't know how it will end up. Each week there will be a set of homework which some people do right away, some do later, and some despite their intentions don't do at all or will be do later in the year. Usually the homework is pretty easy, but there are often a lot of repetitions. Sometimes the steps seem pretty straight forward but often units are then subcut and reassembled.

I did manage to get my friend Barb in Arizona on this, but none of my quilting group members. The one said "but I thought you didn't like lot of triangles"...

edit/PS: I picked up an extra set of paint chips for those who are having a hard time getting them. Send me a PM if you need them :)

If you love scrappy quilts I don't think you can go wrong with any Bonnie Hunter patterns.

Based on the past mysteries I've sewn, she is very thorough with instructions for each unit. She usually will offer her way of doing things and explain why she does what she does, but will provide alternate methods when possible. She also is very good about providing step by step pictures to help explain things. I have not taken an in person class with her so I can't speak to that.

That's an idea - look forward to seeing your fabrics and how this comes together! After all, it is a floral themed project, right?

No lie, I think I'm going to do Frolic in all florals and neutrals except the green, which will read solid. I have SO many florals I don't know what to do with. I'm hoping for a colorwash effect. If it doesn't appear to be working I'll try a plan B (which I don't know yet, ha).

I love this idea! Can't wait to see your progress.

It's a good idea to print out the clue, and Bonnie recommends that if you don't finish the clue that week, put it aside and go on to the next one with everyone else, to make sure you know how to do each one.

I hope to finish up pressing my mystery fabrics today.

Thanks, everyone! Ice- I don't need the chips but thanks anyway.
I'm excited about this !! :)

Today is a good day to go through my stash. I hope to use everything I already have.

super nice selection Peace and joy, I particularly like how dark the blue is for contrast. And good difference between the light blue and the aqua, well done! I still haven't decided but am still leaning to shirts. Shirts are like 30's fabrics though, there isn't a lot of contrast except in colors, not shading.

I don’t understand what you mean by contrast in shading? What does this mean? Tia

I see both The Quilted Twins and Quilting by the Bay has BH frolic mystery bundles but Quilting by the bay is sold out of the full size bundle already. WOW

Whittles Fabrics and The Cozy Quilter also have Frolic fabric bundles. Whittles prices are great!

I'm going to do this one this year as an actual mystery instead of waiting until the end. I need to make a new bed quilt for my bed because the old one finally died. I'm switching out the colors though. I have the paint swatches for all the colors in our house so I'm going to use those instead. Here's what I've gotten so far.... I've pulled a bunch of FQ from my stash. I ay have to tweak some of the colors. I just don't have a ton of money to spend on new fabric right now.
