You're welcome

Nita 04-12-2019 04:20 AM

I, too, wish to thank QuitnNan for referencing MacyBaby's My Small World ... She did a fabulous job with the pattern! Okay, I'm officially "hooked" ... After studying both MacyBaby's and Anael's wonderful quilts, I am going to order My Small World pattern today. I just love the way it can be personalized to reflect each quilter's style. The choice of fabrics sort of tells a story and gives the beholder a glimpse at the personality of the quilt maker. Oh yeah, I'm hooked!

Anael 04-12-2019 04:41 AM

LOL Can't wait to see your Small World Nita!!
I know I"m having a great time with my own small world :)

Anael 04-12-2019 07:33 AM

Sometimes..........you cut fabric, sew it, look at it and think......no, that's not what I want.....rip rip, next piece, same story........rip rip........3rd piece.........yes!! :D :D Dinner time!!

Teen 04-12-2019 11:57 AM

It's a quilter's lot in life....We know what we envision and seldom settle...at least that is the way it is for me.

Same goes for me. I won't settle unless I'm satisfied or know I can't do any better.

Next section (minus sky) is finished. I'm still not sure about the fabric pieces at the top of this piece. I still have time to think about it.

After ruining some fabric and making a block which was very out of shape I decided on this and I like it.

Ohhhh....I do too....so cute.. Looking fantastic, Anael...

This little quilt has a life of it's own!

Anael 04-15-2019 05:54 AM

:D :D It does OK :D

Judith1005 04-15-2019 08:19 AM

Anael, great change ups. It's looking great!

Nita 04-16-2019 04:35 AM

Love the dotted house with red roof, curtains in windows and arched door! I can see that you have a fun stash to pull from.

How big are the size of each block? Looks like tiny work to me, but beautiful.

Nita 04-18-2019 06:08 AM

It is official: I just ordered Jen Kingwell's My Small World pattern/booklet Online from the Fat Quarter Shop. I am tempted to tackle this one before Gypsy wife ... Just looks like a ton of fun, lots of room to add my own touch of creativity. I am so glad that I discovered this thread, since I had never heard of Jen Kingswell before.

Teen 04-21-2019 02:40 PM

Nita...just saw your note!!! How exciting....you got the Kingwell fever! Lol... Eagerly awaiting pictures of progress..

Anael 04-22-2019 09:58 PM

Didn't get a notice there are new posts here!

Nita!! Can't wait to see your MSW blocks!! How exciting. You could do both at the same time. They're so different, you won't mix them up :)

Nita 04-23-2019 03:52 AM

Yes, Teen, I Did catch the "Kingwell Fever". Of which the only cure is to make at least one of her quilts.
Yes, Anael, I now have both the MSW and GW patterns. But I think that it would be overwhelming for me to tackle both at the same time.
So here's my plan: Hobbycat (Also a Q Bd member) and I are planning to start our MSW quilts in the Fall. We will agree to complete a certain amount of blocks per month. Then, thanks to SKYPE, we will touch base with each other on a monthly basis. Sort of a Quilter's Support Group, lol. I promise to share photos of my progress on this thread.

Anael 04-23-2019 04:42 AM

That's a great plan Nita! Does she share her progress here too?

She does post photos on this board. I will encourage her to "show & tell" the MSW as it comes together.

Anael 04-24-2019 05:06 AM

Yes please and thank you :)

Next section. Now I need one more section, almost all sky and the hills

Judith1005 04-26-2019 04:42 AM

It's going great Anael. Looks like you've been very busy.

Anael 04-26-2019 06:27 AM

Thanks Judith! I was busy but not with sewing! The weather was great here so I've been out a lot!

Blue Bell 04-26-2019 12:59 PM

Looks spectacular, Anael. You are a pro at making Jen quilts. And so quickly.

Anael 04-26-2019 09:17 PM

Thank you Blue Bell!

Teen 04-27-2019 08:06 AM

Looks fabulous, Anael!! Another winner.

Anael 04-27-2019 10:02 AM

Thanks Teen! I can still mess it up :D :D

The start of the hills and sky. For the next hill I need 30 tiny hexies...........don't feel much like making those! Will have to think about that!

Anael, recently I made a shop sample that used "hills" in the border. The illusion was made by placing triangles in the corner of rectangles similar to this example I made up. Hopefully you can tell where the triangles are in each rectangle. You could play with the size of the base rectangle and connecting corner square to create this illusion of your hills. This illusion made its way up to a sky colored block. It may be as much work as the hexies!!!!

Thanks for the idea OK! I made a clam shell block instead of hexies but I still need one more so I might use your hills :) The hills are round, at least the one Jen uses but mine don't have to be!

Anael 04-29-2019 06:37 AM

The open space on the left is where the 4th hill will be.

oksewglad 04-29-2019 06:47 AM

I would pull in a little green from the clamshell block and put as the upper right triangle of your "hill". I'd think about using two rectangles for the hills using some green backgrounded florals for a hill of wildflowers....just my humble thoughts! Love the clamsshells by the way...gotta get some thing done...thanks for letting me play with your design!

Anael 04-29-2019 07:10 AM

You're very welcome. You can play some more if you want to. I need lots of sky too :D :D You could play with the clouds!

carriem 04-29-2019 03:01 PM

Anael--what a fun quilt! I didn't go through all the pages so didn't see other's, but saw another familiar name so wanted to be sure to say "hi". Carrie in Iowa (from FWPC quilt along :) )

Anael 04-29-2019 08:44 PM

Hi Carrie!! Nice to see you here :) You're ok?
Thanks! This is a fun one to make!

carriem 04-30-2019 04:33 PM

Anael--yes I am ok. Life just got pretty busy for me for a couple years so I wasn't on the quilting board much. Kids are all graduated from homeschooling, caring for my 81yr old mother-in-law now as needed. I am working on slowing down again...which means more quilting Lord willing!! :)

Anael 05-01-2019 11:04 AM

Slowing down isn't easy! Take care of yourself!!

I'm leaving on Friday and will be back May 10th. Behave ladies :D :D :D

OK, I didn't make more hills and I might decide to do something else. I saw a finished top and that one has some great features. I asked the lady if I could improve my world using hers :) She said I could! So I started ripping some blocks I didn't like and seeing hers I now know why I didn't like mine. Same with the hills. She has appliqued trees and I like that much better!
