That's what we love about quilting...able to make our own choices and tweak our designs. Have a great trip wherever you are off too, Anael.

This is one of the reasons why I haven't started a JK quilt! Check posts #991 and #992 on this page. I have been sewing for families in Nebraska after blizzards and floods earlier.

Anael, could you post a link to hers. Or is it on Facebook? I will go there and look. It sounds really interesting.

Have a Great time on your trip. I can't wait to see your pictures.

Anael 05-01-2019 09:14 PM

You have been very busy OK! Love the quilts you made.

Judith, it's on Facebook. She posted her MSW on April 30st.

The weather won't be nice on my holiday. Cold and rainy.........hopefully I will be able to go out on my bike and take lots of pictures!
Thanks for all the good wishes ladies!
OK, I'm off to Zeeland, in the South West of my country.

Anael 05-01-2019 11:04 PM

Oh wow, I just saw a Long Time Gone in yellow, orange, green and pink. Background and sashings white (or white on white). It's a beauty!! Something to consider when you want to make one :)

oksewglad 05-02-2019 07:26 AM

FYI, it's cold and rainy here in my corner of the world, too. So we just deal with it!

Anael 05-02-2019 07:35 AM

I will too OK, it's just not what I wanted for my first holiday alone ;) But I can't change it so I'll make the best of my time!

Blue Bell 05-02-2019 06:16 PM

Rainy and cool here, too.

I really like the new ones. Once I saw the other top I knew what was bothering me with mine!

Anael 05-02-2019 11:22 PM

And now I'm really gone! I'm leaving in an hour. CU in a week :) :)

QuiltnNan 05-03-2019 02:50 AM

I like the new roofs also.

Thank you QuiltnNan!

As you can see I'm back :) I had a great time despite the weather. It was quite rainy but I managed to go out on my bike every day. Some of the pictures I took:

As you can see the ships are sailing very near to the beach.

This is Zeeland. It's a flat part of our country except for the dunes of course :)

Here I'm standing on a dune, 50 meters high.
I climbed those dunes so often I strained both my hips, left worse than right so I had to quit climbing dunes for a few days :( Still I was able to go to the beach as in one area you can bike on the sea side of the dunes!

oksewglad 05-12-2019 11:43 AM

Great pictures, as always. That's a pretty steep climb. I know how the hips feel when taking my small hills around here. Glad you had a good time!

Hey I bought a GW pattern last week. The first one I've seen in a LQS around here and it was on sale as the shop is closing...I paid $1 for it. Would have loved a SW, too. This is officially on my thinking list, but not starting it yet.

Anael 05-12-2019 12:10 PM

Thanks OK!!
My hips were so sore, I had a hard time sitting and sleeping. For a day or so I was afraid something was wrong with my hip replacement on the left side but it just needed some rest. Lucky me!

You did? Finally a GW? Congrats! When will you start? Don't overthink, just jump in. You can hardly go wrong with a GW.

Judith1005 05-12-2019 12:38 PM

Welcome back Anael. Your pictures are wonderful. What a stunning view. I'm glad to here that a little rest was what was needed for your hips. It sounds like your had a wonderful time!

Teen 05-12-2019 02:53 PM

Welcome home, Anael! Beautiful pics of your adventure and so glad you had a great time, sore hip notwithstanding. Pleased hips are doing better, too..

Happy Mother's Day, you'all. Hoping you all had a lovely day and were made to feel special!

Anael 05-12-2019 09:26 PM

Thanks ladies! I'm happy too my hips only needed to rest a bit :D

Sometimes I think posts have a life of their own. I didn't shout/use caps so I don't know what happened!

Anael 05-13-2019 10:52 PM

Yeahhhhh I just ordered Meadow :D :D :D But I need to finish My Small World before starting another one LOL Do you think I'll stick to that?

Today is another yard work/cleaning day. And I'm going to purchase some new plants for the front yard.
Have a great day!!

Want to see that MySmallWorld flimsy before this one gets started:D:D:D!

Anael 05-16-2019 05:54 AM

Oh dear, will I get punished if not? You're very strict OK :D :D :D

Nita 05-16-2019 06:24 AM

I was at my local quilt shop yesterday and spoke to the staff person who will be leading the Gypsy Wife Club (at the QS) this Fall. I told her that, while I have both patterns, I was planning to make My Small World first. She sort of discouraged me from taking that approach, saying that My Small World is far more difficult than Gypsy Wife. So my quest is to Anael and anyone else on this Q Bd who has experience in making both of these patterns: Do you agree that Gypsy Wife is the easier pattern and that I should tackle that before My Small World? My friend Kathy (also a member of this Q Bd) and I were planning to simultaneously work on My Small World.

I went to the nursery to get some plants for the front yard. On my way back I saw this: a baby lapwing running away from me. He/she didn't listen to his/her mom to hide and wait for the 'all clear' signal, meaning he/she might not survive!

I'm sorry but I really have to disagree. Gypsy Wife is straight forward piecing, no appliqué, no dresdens, just blocks. But lots of ladies have lots of trouble making Gypsy Wife.
My Small World has applique but it's not difficult. It's not like you have to make a zillion flowers, just a few circles and hills. But if you want to skip those and do something else you can. I've seen a My Small World with 2 hills instead of 4.
The sky is all 1" finished pieces but if you want to do 2" finished that's fine too. If you want to make Ohio Stars you go ahead and make those. I don't do the embroidery in the sky, I don't like that.

In both quilts you can use orhpan blocks if you want to.
I think when you follow the pattern and instructions you will be fine, no matter which one you tackle first.

oksewglad 05-16-2019 07:24 AM

You know I'm the UFO Queen...so no worries!!!!

Sounds like fun...Nita..make sure you share, please.

Anael 05-16-2019 07:36 AM

I'm not going to count my UFO's!!!! No way!! LOL

oksewglad 05-16-2019 08:46 AM

Neither do I! Just taking a breather...been outside digging in veg and flower beds. Transplanted a couple of asters...beautiful purple color in the fall. Picked asparagus...we eat them green here and also have a purple variety. Want to go plant some marigold seeds. Rained early this morning...a nice warm one, then temps rose... now 23 degrees C and 70% humidity...will be sticky out later! Now for a quick drink and figure out what's for dinner...duh asparagus!

Anael 05-16-2019 09:03 AM

LOL Enjoy your dinner! I purchased some asters this week, they're bright pink. The plants I purchased today are still not planted, my granddaughter will be staying here this weekend and she wants to help me. Temps dropped again here, windy, no sunshine.......not so much fun to be outside right now.

Teen 05-16-2019 01:19 PM

Oooooo....lovely fabrics, Anael, for Meadow. I love that pattern. That might be a good pattern to work on during construction since there is alot of applique.

I did not plant anything, obviously, with me moving, but I sure enjoyed my roses blooming. Since I gave my niece all my house plants...which were a lot, I have had no plant life inside house so I grabbed a couple of mason jars and kept them filled with the roses that bloomed. Helped with stress cuz I need love things around me. Lol.. I would love to dig up the rose bushes and take with me. The best I've ever had.

Happy Birds is my only UFO and only cuz I can't quilt it until I get my patooty moved. It's a priority to get it done. So...Oksewglad...having one UFO should tickle you...lol..

Movers tomorrow!! Woohoo...

I let you wallow in the despair of a UFO! You will get used to it and then pretty soon you will have two. Happy Birds would be great to hand piece while you are waiting. Yeah off the stuff heads north. Are you leaving then too? Safe travels!

Anael 05-16-2019 08:54 PM

Thanks all! I just purchased the fabrics because I liked them. If I'm going to use them for Meadow? I don't know yet. Maybe.

The only time I had just one UFO was when I started quilting, didn't finish my very first quilt and started my second one. That's about 9 or 10 years ago now.

I once had lots and lots of house plants too. Now I have 3......LOL.

Moving time!!!!!!!!!!! Yeahhhhhhhhhhhh. Finally! Good luck with the move!

Nita 05-17-2019 04:25 AM

Thanks, Anael. I was sort of wondering how I could "tweak" the My Small World pattern to make it less fussy and more fun. I love your suggestion about increasing size of sky blocks to finish at 2", rather than 1" ... Amen to that! as far as the hills go, I am intimidated by the hexi block (No, I don't do English paper Piecing, so any suggestions for how to get around that would be great. I'm guessing that the woman at the QS who is in charge of the Jen Kingwell Club is a "By-The-Book" type of person. I have no problem with tweaking a pattern to suit my skill set and personal preferences. That said, you have convinced me to stick with Kathy and my plan to start our "girlfriend synchronized" My Small World quilts this Fall. We'll keep y'all posted :-)

Anael 05-17-2019 04:35 AM

You're very welcome Nita.

I don't like those hexi blocks either. You could skip them all together and make a grass like foundation (just like the sky) and applique trees or flowers (or both :) )
I made 3 hills and I'm skipping the 4th - being the hexi one LOL !!

Anael 05-17-2019 04:53 AM

I ordered some more wash away applique sheets so I can start Meadow whenever I want and a book: dare to be square quilting. I have too many books already but I saw this one and found pics of finished projects online and I liked quite some of them. Can't wait to get it.

Judith1005 05-19-2019 05:07 AM

Anael, love your new fabrics. I just saw Meadow on Facebook. And, it is a gorgeous pattern. I love the changes you made to your Small World pattern. It really defines the roofs better.

Teen, Hope you have a great move and get some great movers.

Nita, I couldn't offer up an advice on the Kingwell patterns as I haven't made any yet. I'm still trying to decide which pattern to buy first. But, I know you won't be sorry taking the adventure with you friend. I'm sure you'll have lots of fun, laughs and support along the way.

I couldn't resist so I made 2 Meadow flowers! Here they are.

Judith1005 05-20-2019 05:03 AM

Very pretty Anael. This is going to be another colorful quilt.

oksewglad 05-20-2019 05:58 AM

Oh but the blocks are soooo good! Love the light grays with the softer brights.

Been working on some tiny's. Finished a rectangular log cabin with 4 3 x 4 inch blocks using 3/4" fabric pieces. Have the handwork done on a landscape quilt made with 3/4" strips as well. Trying to figure out have to quilt it...can't SITD as I pressed the seams open to get them flat. It needs some quilting to anchor it, but don't want too much to take away from the piecing. Oh well must go to the office today, so have some thinking time ahead of me.

Anael 05-20-2019 06:09 AM

Thanks OK!

Oh goodness !!! That's tiny! I can send you my scraps :)

Isn't it possible to follow some of the landscape features. You could stitch almost in the ditch too. But maybe there are too many seams to do that. Please post a picture!

Barb in Louisiana 05-20-2019 06:41 AM

All of you ladies are having so much fun that I am thinking again about starting a Jen Kingwell project. Does anyone have a Gypsy Wife that they would like to sell at a bargain price????

Anael 05-20-2019 07:09 AM

So sorry Barb, not going to sell mine any time soon. I made two GW's and planning a 3rd :)
Did you try eBay?
