OK, is your landscape quilt the barn quilt? You posted the link to the pattern elsewhere. If so, you could quilt clouds in the sky and grass where you used green.

oksewglad 05-20-2019 08:46 AM

Yes, it is, Anael. My sky has more dark blue than the original..I can't envision clouds in it. I have hand stitched grass at the base of the barn. Thinking of quilting angles in the night/twilight sky over the barn..very subtle..still thinking.

Anael 05-20-2019 09:10 AM

Night sky? Stars? Moon? Lots of stars and a moon?
At 1/3 of the original size.....wow!!

Here are the next 2 flowers. They still need to be ironed. I might call it a day now.
Tomorrow no sewing. I'm going for a ride, no long one though, about 25 miles.

Did you try eBay?

I did. I'll probably go ahead and order one from there. You ladies are having too much fun without me.

Here's my two mini's. Quilting suggestions welcome...I might put a crescent moon in the sky, Anael..good suggestion. I'm having a tough time getting good photos from this camera.

Anael 05-20-2019 09:24 PM

OK, what about a zigzag? I would audition some possibilities with a clear vinyl sheet and a marker.

Anael 05-20-2019 11:13 PM

No biking today. In The Netherlands you can get a railroad card with an additional subscription which gives you 7 days free traveling. Every two months one day and one day extra in a year. So I thought I still had my yearly day which I would have to use before May 28th. Turned out I already used that day!! So no free train ride for me today.
My bi-monthly day will be used coming Saturday on a trip with my brother :)

Instead of my biking trip I might go on a FART today :D :D I need more background fabrics. Today more fabrics will arrive in the mail. I purchased more KF fabrics. Will show them later today.

I worked on MSW. Here's what I did instead of the hexi block.

My new fabrics arrived. I'm happy with them. I wasn't a KF fan but I am starting to become one LOL

Oh Anael, I love the trees in your MSW. Very nice addition.

Pretty Kaffe fabrics. I do love his sense of color!

Anael 05-21-2019 07:11 AM

Thank you Judith!

I made some more flowers.

Judith1005 05-21-2019 03:50 PM

Ok, I love your tiny minis. Have you thought about quilting Stars in the sky. And, at the bottom, maybe a zigzag to signify grass.

I'm probably the worst person to make suggestions. I am a horrible quilter. And, I have major issues committing to a quilting design.

They are both very special and pretty.

Anael, pretty flowers. You have such a nice flair for color.

oksewglad 05-21-2019 06:12 PM

Thanks for the suggestions!

Lovely blooms! Anael are you hand appliqueing these?

Anael 05-21-2019 08:44 PM

Thanks ladies. No OK, machine applique. I'm using wash away applique sheets, glue the seam allowance with sewline and sew them on.

Anael, is that a baby with her? Striking color on the face of the duck. It looks like the sun was shinning beautifully.

I love how your bright flowers are coming along. They look beautiful on the gray background.

Anael 05-28-2019 04:57 AM

Yes Judith, that baby has yellow and red feathers, looks like a punk baby :D :D I love those chicks!
The weather wasn't great, not much sunshine! We had a great ride though ;)

Teen 06-12-2019 02:02 PM

Hello from Idaho!! Woohoo....I am officially moved. And, I have already picked up some fabrics for my GW pattern...hopefully to start soon but I have to get organized a bit...phew! Hope all is well!

oksewglad 06-12-2019 03:43 PM

Hope the move went well. Welcome back!

Blue Bell 06-12-2019 05:45 PM

Good to hear from you, Teen. Been thinking about you.

Teen 06-12-2019 06:22 PM

Thank you! I missed you peeps! The move went smoothly...new home construction starts next week. Trying to get organized in workshop/RV but I took delivery of a new washer/dryer today so all is good! Lol.. We are trying to decide where to set up my sewing nook. I'm eager to get back into sewing soon....I've got 2 Kingwell patterns on the list that are ready to go..

Anael 06-12-2019 09:11 PM

Yeahhhhhhhhhhh you're back!! Great to hear everything went well!
I thought taking delivery of a LA would be good but you're satisfied with a washer and dryer LOL
Sooooooo what will your next Kingwell patterns be? GW? And?

Teen 06-13-2019 02:36 PM

Lol...a LA when house built. When that is set up, I don't want to move it. Lol... So....GW or Bring Me Flowers..not sure yet. I have other patterns, too, on my list that are kitted up and ready. So many choices... I'm just going to grab one and go for it.

Anael 06-13-2019 08:45 PM

I love the Bring me Flowers quilt but it's all curved piecing and that's holding me back.

When your LA is set up I'm going to move in with you LOL

I've been working on My Small World this week. Here are my blocks so far.

Now I'm working on the triangle blocks - some are roofs, some are skinny hourglasses, etc. I am having an awful time getting them to measure 2.5" unfinished without chopping off corners when sewn. I'm now thinking of paper piecing them. Does anyone have any suggestions before I draft a paper pieced block? Did any of you use templates, and if so which? My Marti Michell ones don't appear to be the right angle.

Anael 06-15-2019 06:24 AM

I like your blocks!!
I use the templates from the book. Still it's hard to get them to size. Most of the time you have to use a scant 1/4" seam and sometimes 1/4".....

Mkotch 06-15-2019 02:26 PM

Thanks, Anael. I ended up appliqueing them, which wasn't that bad. If I had to do more, I think I would paper piece.

Teen 06-15-2019 04:20 PM

Very pretty, Mkotch.... I'm loving the background fabrics you are selecting...

oksewglad 06-16-2019 05:36 PM

Like the start Mkotch

Nita 06-17-2019 04:05 AM

Looks like you are off to a good start, Mkotch ... your blocks look great. Nice choice of fabrics, good contrast.
Though I had planned to start a My Small World this Fall, I have to admit that the frustration involved with trying to make accurately sized blocks is enough to discourage me. I hate that! When it is the complaint from several quilters (and I am hearing this complaint a lot in regards to the My Small World pattern), one has to assume that the designer of the pattern who is to blame.
Have you tried making slightly oversized blocks and then trimming them down to 2.5" square? Search the Deb Turner trimming rulers and technique sheet for more info on her line of rulers that are designed to be used that way. i hope this helps you.

Mkotch 06-17-2019 10:22 AM

Hi Nita, yes I have been making blocks oversized and cutting them to fit when possible. The triangles (peaky and spike-type blocks) were my hang up, so I just appliqued them or paper pieced. I am now on the buildings which are really fun but you have to pay close attention to the sizes. Don't cut when tired or not alert. But they are turning out great so far. Now that I'm sort of past the "fillers," I am really having fun. I suppose I'll whine when I get to the sky again, but I may use some larger blocks here and there just for "interest."

Anael 06-17-2019 10:38 AM

LOL That sky is no fun when you do all 1" pieces. I did several sizes including 3" finished Ohio stars. Makes it a bit less boring :)

Oh how exciting!! Can't wait to see your blocks :)

ckcowl 06-21-2019 12:47 AM

I love the fabrics you are using. This is going to be a beautiful quilt. I often turn to Paper Piecing for those ( finicky) Blocks. Appliqué was a good option too. I look forward to seeing this continue to come together

Mkotch 06-26-2019 01:52 AM

I am working on the hexie hill in My Small World right now. It's quite fiddly, but I'm dreading the New York Beauty-like hill so skipped it until I can figure out how I'm going to do it. I ended up appliqueing the rainbow hill - I started with the largest half-circle, then added each succeeding half-circle on top, cutting away the previous half circle underneath. It looks good. This quilt is quite a good learning experience!

brushbanner009 06-26-2019 03:18 AM

It's magical moment, when i see this designs...

Anael 06-26-2019 07:32 AM

I skipped the New York Beauty hill all together! I saw it, thought.....oh dear.......and made trees instead :D :D
As you I appliqued the rainbow hill. I hate curved sewing!
