Rainbow 9-Patch finish for June
1 Attachment(s)
Ta-Da! I did it and finished one for June. Nick of time but done except for the label because who knows who it is going to? Now on to the next one that needs quilting and binding. I see June's sunset shinning over the hilltop That means July will rise in the morning.
|
WMUTeach: Congratulations on a wonderful finish! It will be well loved by the person/persons that are chosen to receive it.
I’m declaring July as UFO month! Never mind that I have planned to do UFOs other months too and it never happened. 🤷♀️ My bigger harp machine is acting up again but I hope a new bobbin case will solve the problem. |
WMUTeach….your finish is outstanding!! I love it! So creative….
retiredteach…good luck with your July goal! My goal is to finish my WIP…just have the border to do…then I can get it and another quilt I just finished prepped for LA’er. Then I can start a new project and continue with Harriet’s Journey sampler. I’ve been making small projects and working on an EPP quilt that I started for traveling project. Traveling is over for a bit so I’m working on it in the evenings. |
Trying to stay on the train with you Retiredteacher09. I did the machine sewing of a binding on a second quilt this afternoon. Just need to do hand sew it toward the back. I have three more quilts layered but don't want to plan too far ahead and then disappoint myself. But on the other hand.... this weekend is another Virtual Quilting Weekend, maybe..... We will see what I get done.
|
I ‘thought’ about my UFOs today. Does that count? Lol!
I was given a gift certificate to a craft store from my neighbors for helping with their dogs. Yesterday, I bought some art canvases that are 16” by 20” and hope they will work for the UFO that I’m turning into wall hangings vs making it a quilt. 🤷♀️ I feel that was some progress yesterday. My thought is to border or group some of the blocks together and attach them to the art canvases. Then I can hang them since the canvases are on board frames. Fingers crossed that this will work for some of the blocks. |
WMUTeach...great placement of colored scraps!
Connie, one must think before they get at something, so thinking countshttps://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images...es/biggrin.png and turning UFO's into wall hangings proves it! Please share when you get finished. Me? I'm still in Tshirt land and trying to get ready for the tribe to arrive..should have 11 or 12 of the Grands in the same place for a few days in two weeks...getting out the inflatable beds! |

OK, everyone here is my next. [My June finish and this July finish just needed binding. I am not a wonder quilter.] Just put the last stitches on the binding and since it is RWB, what a perfect choice for this holiday weekend. This is my version of Debby Brown's Color Block quilt for...February. I had all of the 2.5s in my stash but had to by backing. Went for wide back and got two quilts out of it, June's finish and this one that has been hanging about since mid-February. (Post # 522) Done and done!
|
oksewglad: I’m glad thinking counts toward working on UFOs. Enjoy having the tribe. Good luck with getting the t-shirts finished.
|
WMUTeach: Very pretty RWB quilt. I am enjoying the Color Block quilts.
Today I took my art canvas pack down to my sewing area and ‘tested’ a big block on it from the UFO quilt that will be made into wallhangings. I think my idea may work. So I’m making progress. Lol! Now I need to finish the remaining appliqué blocks before I do anything else. |

One more UFO out of the way. Yes, there is a boo-boo but not found until the quilting was finished. Just a creative moment I guess. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/hunf.png Woops! The top is all from my stash but I had to purchase backing. Love these long weekends for getting projects done and out of the way.
|
Congratulations on getting another UFO off the pile!
Rob |
WMUTeach: Very pretty. Congratulations on getting it finished.
|
WMUTeach, you're doing great! I finished quilting a quilt, but there are so many threads to bury! And that is not my favorite thing to do.

Finally have the binding on and it is finished!
|
Good job Quilbaer. Congratulations on getting it finished!
|
QuiltBaer: Congratulations on finishing a wonderful quilt.
|
Beautiful finish QuiltBaer! I hear the Ahhh of one more finished echoing across the miles.

After trips to see my family, I'm finally back on the board. I went back and read June's tally. In that group I discovered 2 more UFOs for May, for a total of 8. In June we had 8 more UFOs. So far this month we've had 3 UFOs completed. Summertime! I've spent what time I had here mowing. We've had more rain than usual for this area and my grass is growing like crazy. My sewing with K has even suffered. They have a large garden and will go on vacation soon. Our lap quilt tally is up to 26, with 9 to go. I hope to stay current on the board & apologize for staying off for so many weeks.

I managed to finish quilting another of Ben’s quilt tops today. I guess they count as my ufos because I have a stack of 8-10 of them he made during the shut down that are waiting for me to quilt. It is nice to get each one done and onto the next. The next one I have to create a back for. I decided the wide back I thought I would use is just too bright- so a pieced one will be the way to go. I hope to get that done and the quilt loaded- possibly started tomorrow. Progress has been slow for me but I keep ( trudging along)
here’s the one I finished today ( teal/ purple/ black the second photo is the one that is next |
Welcome back, Conchalea! Family time is important and so is the mowing. Please send some of that rain to me. 🙂. It seems like it rains north and south of us. 🤷♀️
ckcowl: Very pretty and you are making progress. |
Ckcowl, very pretty quilts. The strong jewel tones catch my eye! https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/smile.png

Beautiful finishes, everyone!
Prepping 2 quilts for LA’er today…I’ll be delivering 3 to her this week. None are UFO’s and will not become one..lol.. |
Very interesting quilts, ckcowl!

I finally have a few pictures of one of my May finishes. The Big-Boy-Quilt with the embroidered hot rod cars.
Not certain why they are sideways? |

I also made sure that I actually took pictures of my July finishes-2 flimsies and 1 Quillow. The two flimsies also count for the Moratorium challenge because they are all from stash material and have been cut and pre-positioned for over two years and the quillow for over a year.
The first flimsie is all child prints and lap quilt size. The second is a miscellaneous assortment of scrap blocks I have had that were left over from other quilt tops over the years. I did the-toss it in a bag and sew it as it comes out attempt. Surprisingly enough, no prints are sitting right next to itself. The last three pics are of the quillow for a coworkers daughter. He left our organization and came back. Before leaving he married a nice woman with 3 kids. For the wedding gifts, they got afghans and the kids all got quillows so they would not be left out. They also had a baby before he left. I finished the top before but did not finish it. We have the front, back and it folded. |
Did we have totals of finishes for July? Or did I miss it. I have finished my two deadline quilts and ready to take on one UFO for August. See you all soon.
|
Not a UFO but FYI 2nd T shirt quilts done. Think I will post in a new thread
|
Glad to see UFO thread again. Still not up to quilting after hand surgery.
|
Motorcyclemad: Very unique antique car quilt. I like your flimsies and quillow also.

I was able to get another two flimsies done this past weekend (even around a crochet lesson). Both of these have been staged for over two years. The first one just 5-1/2 inch squares with sashing. The second is a "Zero Waste" Quilt from the YouTube channel. Having a senior moment on the young ladies name. Of course, I couldn't leave the pattern as is. I added sashing which changed the borders, but I did get it up to twin-sized. Now I know what to do with the second one that is waiting to be sewn. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/wink.png These two are packaged and waiting for my Labor Day trip to get dropped off. I am definitely going to work on something simple next. |
Is the pattern for your Zero Waste from Jordan Fabrics? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ghg7aXt6qMc

I managed to get the binding done on 2 more quilts then found backing and pieced a batting for the next one I need to finish up-
I have one loaded to quilt that is taking some time- I thought about taking it back off the frame and doing a couple different ones before going back to it- but, we shall see what today brings.I have until 11:30 this morning before I have to work so- I shall see what I can get done in the next 3 hours to help me decide what I’m going to do next. Even though the pile doesn’t seem to be shrinking it doesn’t seem to be as ( daunting) as it was. There are more fairly small quilts then I had realized, which helps my brain see an end possible. |
Look at you go, ckcowl! Woozers. You are putting me to shame. Actually I have too many "quilt-a-longs" going on so it seems like I never finish anything. https://cdn.quiltingboard.com/images/smilies/hunf.png
|
ckcowl: Sounds like you are making great progress.
WMUTeach: I decided I can’t do any quilt alongs until I get my UFOs finished. 🙂. Although, the monthly Color Blocks doesn’t count. 🤷♀️ I hope to finish my 2 current projects by the end of this month and then concentrate on my UFOs. 🤞. Of course, I also planned to work on the UFOs in July and I only pulled out the box for one, Lol! |
I still have the last t shirt quilt to do...put my GDaughter on the LA yesterday and she meander quilted a baby quilt she made 2 summers ago; now to get her to bind it. She's 12 and wants to quilt a kitty panel for her brother's girl friend as a college dorm room lap quilt. That's next for her.
|
At least 25 UFO's left my house today..
We're moving across the country; California to Florida. Today the comfort quilt leader took over 30 quilts in different levels of finished; needs label, needs binding, needs quilting, needs piecing. We averaged 6 yd/quilt so over 180 yds. She's doing some counting on them so I'll have a better idea. There are emply spots in the room now. Next week we're going to do a work day to make pillow case kits. If someone wants a kit for them personally she said she'd tell them how much it'd cost at $12/yd fabric. May the downsizing continue. |
oksewglad: It’s great your granddaughter can longarm her own quilt at 12!
petthefabric: I like the idea of people buying a kit if they want it for personal use. |
