Nice finish, Alvastitcher. Lucy is adorable.
Wow, Auntjo... there's a lot going on, on that design wall! All of the options look pretty to me.

Thank you Auntjo for posting those options. It is helping me to make decisions...I think.

I really like the brown sashing strips AuntJo - it really makes the Aqua pop!

AlvaStitcher, yours turned out beautifully. I just love your shades of coral and aqua.
Wow, that's an eyeful, AuntJo, and very helpful to see the various effects.

Thanks for all your comments. I think I have a better understanding now. I usually like to be in control, know what the ending will be and so look forward to mystery quilts where I have no control. I just thought if you were doing a mystery quilt, you had to follow the directions exactly. Silly me!
When I taught a mystery quilt this summer at our quilt camp, I taught the block and the "mystery" was how to put the block together once I taught the layout and technique of the block. Since there were several different designs (as there often are), the "mystery" was solving how they would put theirs together. So each solved it their way . Wonder why I didn't think of the BH mystery !

I am almost to the halfway point putting the top together, but got distracted with finishing a baby quilt for a friend and making a few zipper bags for gifts that I need on Saturday. I'll get back to it next week and probably finish it up. I have a good size piece of fabric that I think I can use as backing. Cross my fingers, don't want to buy anything if I don't have to.

All the quilt tops and variations in design and color are just stunning, really. You've all done a great job.

To quote Young Mr. Grace from Are You Being Served ...
“You’ve all done very well!”
Sorry, I couldn't resist.

I finally have some blocks to experiment with. I'm afraid my neutral sashing clashes with the bright setting triangles, and I'm not sure the alternate block is helping anything. Any and all comments would be appreciated!
The other option would be to just use a plain light colored sashing. I like the clarity that gives to the blocks. That's my objection to the coral sashing -- the block seems less distinct in the midst of all that coral. But as usually happens, the more I look at other options, the closer I get to embracing Bonnie's design.

Keep at it Joe's mom, remember it is a scrappy quilt. and looking lovely. I'm getting a UFO off my design wall, then I'll be back at the Mystery.
