When the weather gets cooler, my husband and I get together and make different soups or stews. I cut up the meat and veggies and he puts it together. We have good soups and French bread. It makes a delicious supper. Sometimes we freeze some for another day.

Like grannie cheechee, I don't mind cooking, I just get tired of trying to decide what to have. My hubby will eat anything I fix or suggest too, so satisfying him is easy. One day a while back when I couldn't get a suggestion from hubby, as a joke, I made up a menu with 9 different choices as well as diner's choice and cook's choice options and let my husband decide what we should have. I only included things with ingredients I knew I had on hand at the time, and made the notation that things like pot roast or pork loin would require at least 5 hours notice. It worked well and we had a big laugh over it. Since then, I've done a menu a few times. I might add that if I cook, hubby does the dishes and if he cooks, I do them. Of course, if he chooses to eat take out, that's ok too! haha Altho we never did it very often, we still aren't comfortable eating out at crowded sit-down restaurants.

I’ve decided to pull out old cookbooks one at a time & search out something new to make.[/QUOTE]

My sons and I played this game for years! DH worked from 3:00-Midnight for years. He was never home for dinner, so the kids got to go through my cookbooks and chose. They would search, laugh, point, giggle and come up with some doozies. Cookbooks were a favorite gift. Both sons are now excellent cooks, and still send ideas for family get-togethers!

Now that it's just DH and me, and he has a lot of stomach issues and restrictions, he chooses what we have, based on how he feels.

I love to cook most of the time, but when I don't feel like it, I order Chinese or wraps carry out. Lately, we've been having hot weather (for VT), so I've been making chicken salads (with curry mayo and grapes or traditional style) and fruit salads. Add some store-bought rolls and you have a cool meal.

It all sounds great to me. My problem is I don't have an oven at the moment. Just after having my kitchen remodeled which took 8 months to finish it due to lack of materials, my oven decides to take a hike. Still have my burners but no oven. Luckily I bought a Ninja Air Fryer to replace my toaster oven so I had that to use for baking pies, etc. Now I have an Instant Pot and finding all sorts of things I can use it for. It's just me and sometimes I just don't feel like making anything big just for myself. Winter time I have all my soups I made in the Fall and froze using produce from the garden but summer time is a hassle as who wants to cook when it's hot?

Your menu sounded great to me though.

Ha...I bought my insta-pot last fall....and have yet to use it....I got a couple of cookbooks, the air-fryer attachment, and several utensils and additional cookware for it. Hoping it would inspire me to cook. Sighhh....so for supper last night, I opened a can of spam, fried it, opened a container of cottage cheese and stuck that on the plate...then for my veggies, I took a stroll in the yard and ate some cherry tomatoes and green beans off the vine and a crap apple off the tree. OH MY, I am so not a cook.

Oh gosh, I love my three Instant Pots. There are plenty of "dump" recipes, so easy. Sometimes all three are going at once. Also got a Ninja Flip oven which has air fryer function. Like that too.

I have had good luck cooking turkey breasts in my crock pot in the summer. That results in turkey in many forms for the whole week.

I cook dinner every night, it's a chore sometimes. We are not big eaters so it's a waste to go out to eat. In the heat I do make a lot of salads with chicken, or taco salad with beef. Often time the protein in salad is beans and eggs. All the meals I make are pretty easy, I like that I can control the fat, cholesterol, calories, etc. In the winter it's a lot of soups, stews, pasta, meat loaf and roasts. I always make enough for two meals and freeze it for later. Luckily we have a freezer so I also make 4 quiche's at a time and cut them in half and freeze them also. I make cookie dough and freeze that too, great for when I have a sweet tooth attack.

Every time I say I don't want to cook anymore I find a good-sounding recipe that I just have to try so it's never-ending here either. I really love to cook but sometimes I am just tired of it.
