Thanks Craftybear, that one sounds a little more like the one I used to make. I did find one on cooks.com but didn't sound like I wanted. I have an over abundance of cabbage out of the garden and was looking for ways to use it up. Thanks again

I'll see if I can find mine, another one of my grandmother's and it's very much like MinniKats. It even keeps just in the fridge for a few weeks and the cabbage doesn't turn to kraut. Great for summer picnics and pot lucks, no mayo to worry about spoiling.

I make my coleslaw about like everyone else. Shredded cabbage, chopped green or red bell pepper, shredded carrots. Sprinkle with salt. Let set one hour. Bring to a boil: 2 cups sugar, 1 cup vinegar, 1 teaspoon celery seed, 1 teaspoon mustard seed. Boil 1 minute and let cool. Drain cabbage. Pour vinegar mixture over and refrigerate. I make mine and leave in the fridge until it is gone. But it can be frozen if you want it that way. We like it fresh. I also use splenda instead of sugar since I am a diabetic.

Frozen Slaw
1 cup Vinegar
1/2 cup Water
1 1/2 cups Sugar
1 teaspoon Celery Seed
1 teaspoon Mustard Seed
1 medium Head Cabbage, shredded
1 Carrot, shredded
1 tablespoon salt
Mix together the first 5 ingredients in a large pan and bring to a boil. Boil for one minutes and then cool. While this is cooling, shred the vegetables into a bowl and mix in salt. Let stand for one hour. Squeeze out all the liquid from the vegetables. Put vegetables into freezer container and cover with the vinegar mixture. Freeze. Thaw before serving.
This is great on hot dogs and hamburgers.
