I like to put meat & seasoning in the CP,along with water till it's nearly full.I turn it on high in the eve, then low when I go to bed. In the morn, there's enough for 2 large containers of broth to freeze one & use one as a base for veggie soup. The home made broth makes a big diff in taste, especially as I try not to use much meat in my soup.
Like having 2-3 C containers of soup in the freezer. Handy for a quick lunch.....low cal & low fat.

Actually, this morning I put macaroni and cheese in the smaller crockpot and a meatloaf in the larger one. Ended up with 8 servings of mac & cheese for the 2 of us (I froze the 3 extra meals in a baggie) and 8 servings of meatloaf. I don't like taking the time to stir macaroni when I can cook it all at once in the crockpot - same with spaghetti, I always cook several pounds (on the stove) at once and freeze. Makes those cold winter days coming up easier to plan meals.

Re: Whats For Supper?
Chicken Casserole is in the cookpot as we speak - Whole chicken jointed and de-skinned, with mushrooms, white wine, fresh herbs and mini onions. To be served with parsley dumplings, colcannon, carrots and peas from the garden, and homemade crusty bread and butter to mop up the gravy... just the thing for a cold, wet, miserable day. Definitely comfort food in this house...
