I always use no show mesh. You can use either fusible or non fusible it helps to keep your stitches from puckering. No show is thin and does not add bulk.

I use Deco-Bond instead of the foam. It works great. I also use heat-n-bond for the appliqué part. Both are a lot cheaper than the foam.
