I have free motioned on my FW and can't lower the feed dogs. I covered them with an index card secured with painters tape. It worked like a charm.

I was thinking of doing a decorative stitch that would capture the edge and the background. If I try this it will be a decorative with a lot of stitches so I feel like it will hold together well....
