I like to use the cutting templates as a guide and just go bigger and trim after. It is a lot less stressful for me. And I second the Add A Quarter ruler. Makes trimming a breeze and the way it locks...

Those are beautiful. I just ordered a yard of fabric from Spoonflower and found it too stuff and coarse, even after washing and drying, to use. It is a shame because the printing is very nice.
