    Maybe she was referring to fussy cutting? That initially leaves tons of holey fabric but scrap quilters know how to deal with it, yum yum :) curves always leave waste fabric, but straight hexagons...

    I think the controversy goes back in time when most quilts were hand quilted. High thread count fabric of any kind is difficult to hand quilt through.
    cotton sheets are indeed difficult to find...
