Need ideas for snacks for a weeklong quilt retreat. Everyone brings chocolate and other sweets. The food provided is not local either. Any ideas out there?

Pete, how about bringing a vegie tray, fruit and nuts? You will be prepared with a healthy snack when everyone is munching on chocolate. I need to think about this for myself too. I will be at a retreat the 14-16th. If you have a Sam's Club membership, they have a nice vegie tray for $9 or so; maybe $10.

Wow a week long quilt retreat. How much fun.

Snacks can be a challenge. I would suggest some of those 100 calorie packs you can get. Also think about some fruit and nuts.

Drink plenty of water. Also lemons are a natural diuertic (sp?) I drink lots of water with lemon in it.

    Enjoy your time.

A quick tip, probably mentioned on previous weight loss threads. Buy smaller dinner plates. I have some glass plates that are about 2 inches narrower than our regular dinner plates. If I fill my glass plate I have about 3/4 the food I would have if I filled our regular dinner plates.

I still feel like I have had a full portion of food.

I am lucky that I do not have a sweet tooth. I do not like sweetened drinks, so pop has never been an issue for me. Baked goods are not an issue either, but if you put a bag of kettle cooked chips in front of me, I will eat the whole thing, even a family sized bag.

However, I love red meat and tend to abandon portion control when I eat it. I also only like potatoes when roasted or baked and loaded with sour cream and bacon bits. I am better off loading my plate with non starchy vegies and not eating any spuds at all.

My dh, who also needs to lose weight loves all things carb, cookies, doughnuts, candy and more. He used to drink lots of pop, but discovered fizzy water when on a business trip to the Netherlands. He is happy to drink sparkling water instead of pop. He loves the mouth feel. This year for Christmas he got a Soda Stream to make his own fizzy water at home. You can buy flavouring for the water, be he likes it plain.

Good Morning, I am heading out to work this morning. I am not 100% over the crude but feel better than I did on Friday.

Made some chicken chilli for dinner last night, and will take some for lunch today. I don't have much of an appetitte. I am making myself eat.

Have the best day you can.

glad you are feeling better cindy. my DH is fighting it, but he just keeps on going, and spreading it. so maybe he isn't too bad. i'm popping the vitimin C and Lysine, to fight the cold sore coming on. dull headache for the last 2 days.
glad to see everyone on the scrappy mystery quilt paintmejudy is doing. this is the 2nd one of hers, that i have done. the last one turned out sooooooo nice.
trying to get back in the wt loss mindset. doing better each day. made a 'school girl list'
---no ice cream, no cake, no sugar, drink lots of water. move more. ' it's written in large print, and laying on the counter, so i see it all the time when i walk in the kitchen. send your positive thoughts my way. need them. another 10 lbs, and i will be back down to retirement wt. so would like to get there, and shed all this 'sicky' retirement wt.

I had a nice weekend and didn't even have to fight with myself to much. Stayed on track all weekend!
I did however make the mistake of watching the biggest looser on sunday night. I know i am overweight and i needed a kick in the butt to get myself in gear again, but the way they treat the contestants is terrible. I will not be watching it again. Dont they know that bulling is out.

Pam I have seen all of those studies that say you need to sleep more. I go to bed some time around midnight and get up at 5:30 or 6. Even on the weekend that is what I do. Once in a great while I will sleep in until 7. How am I supposed to get more sleep. I am tired when I get home from work but if I take a nap I am up all night. Sometimes I take a 10 minute nap.
I don't like the biggest loser either. Too much yelling at them . They do have some good recipe ideas. I had their recipe book from the library and they have some good stuff in it. I am always looking for new ideas. I get bored with food and make new stuff.
I finally exercised today. I haven't in a while. The scale is still the same but my measurements are up. I think I am turning into a bowl of jello. Gotta stop that.
I am working on the mystery train ride quilt too. Gotta finish my table runners, they need binding then I can go back to the mystery.

    Hey Pete,
I've been on WW online only since 10/10/12 love it bye bye 30lbs. Eat most anything but in moderation the points + really work if I do Caution on the nuts very high fat. Keep sewing at your retreat - sew sew sew drink water go to the water closet and forget the snacks you'll be happy you did.
