I have thought of doing the exact same thing...but my husband said, "With your next husband!"

My mom lived in a two-bedroom house with my stepdad. When they moved into this house, my stepdad suggested that my mom use the large room for her sewing. They only slept in the bedroom at night, so using a smaller room didn't matter--plus it had a bathroom! think of the time she saved not having to leave the sewing room for that! 8^)

it was a great use of the space. and, to quote another wise woman, it's your house and you are the master!

Why not use the master as your sewing room? No sewing/quilting police out here to say no (LOL) and you should certainly use it to your enjoyment! I'd go for it. I am in the process of turning a livingroom in the old part of our house into a sewing room and I have a friend, whose livingroom is her sewing room. Life is too short - make it enjoyable for yourself!

I think it makes sense and it sounds like it would give you a better quilting space!

Haven't read all the posts but I've been thinking of doing the same thing. In fact, what is now my sewing room was my bedroom before my mom died. I have three treadles in my bedroom now so all I'd need to do is move my bed.

If I were not married, I would definitely turn the master bedroom into my sewing room! It has great natural light, like yours it is the biggest of the rooms (except the living room). I would not even hesitate to make that change and to be perfectly honest, I've entertained the thought already. Don't tell my hubby, he'd be hurt ; )

DO IT!!! If you don't like it later, you can move it all back.

I measured last night and the longest wall without a window is 190" (but the door opens up against that wall), that will fit the longarm just fine. The other long wall has a window that I think I'd like to have the sewing table in front of for light. Another wall will fit my Ikea cubbyhole unit, another one would be good for a design wall.

I need help moving the longarm and a huge armoir but my son stops by sometimes on his way home from work so that won't be a problem if I just find out what day he can come by.

Go for it! It's where you spend a good deal of your time. Why keep the best room to be used the least!
